Morning Glory Pool is undoubtedly one of the highlights of the Upper Geyser Basin despite being less beautiful than it once was, since large amounts of rocks and trash have been thrown into the pool by thoughtless visitors, significantly reducing the water temperature. The pool used to be filled by rich blue water, with a narrow ring of orange-yellow bacteria only around the edge; now the water is more greenish and the algae band is much wider. The pool is 20 feet in diameter, 23 feet deep, round and symmetric, with a conical vent at the center, and may be viewed from a raised boardwalk that extends along nearly half its circumference. The spring drains westwards into the Firehole River, 100 feet away. It was named in 1883 for its resemblance in color and shape to the morning glory flower.

I've been exploring the coastal areas around Wellington, New Zealand to find interesting compositions to photograph under the night sky. Earlier this month I came across this rock pool which aligned perfectly with the rising Milky Way. Access to the pool over the rocks was difficult, but it was worth the effort to set this shot up.
One of my goals during this trip to Grand Teton and Yellowstone was to mostly shoot it differently than the last trip, and reshoot some areas where I'm still trying to get the image I want. Along those lines, more time was spent at the geothermal pools. The color in and around these pools comes from the thermophiles, a form of extremophiles, that live and thrive on high temperatures. The colors of the thermophiles changes depending on how hot the pool is. When it's clear blue, it's too hot for anything to live. This is Abyss Pool at the West Thumb Geyser Basin. It's aqua blue is one of the prettiest in the park and a great contrast to the deep orange/brown of the surrounding thermophiles. Some clouds are reflecting in the thermophiles. I went for a little Coalcliff action this morning, with Jeff, Dex & Ant. A high tide and big swell made for some interesting times around the pool here.
We had a couple of phases of colour either side of sunrise separated by about 15 minutes of flatness. I took this shot around 10 minutes after the sunrise during the second burst.

The Silent Pool is a spring-fed lake at the foot of the North Downs in Surrey.
It is considered by some to be a sacred site, being linked to a folklore tale which says that King John, on his horse, abducted a woodcutter's daughter, who was forced into the deep water and drowned. According to the legend, the maiden can be seen at the Silent Pool at midnight....
The Blue Pool at Pontsarn in the Brecon Beacons/Bannau Brycheiniog. Apparently a wild swimming spot but not the day I was there, the flow of the water was ferocious, although a couple of brave people did swim in the pool above the waterfall whilst I was there! The biggest challenge was keeping the camera dry given the amount of spray from the falling water.

6 vertical shots combined panorama taken at Porteau Cove Provincial Park near Squamish, BC. It was a low tide night revealing this night pool near the campground. walking along this night pool and take photos was a great experience.
The lights behind the mountain on the left is from Gibson, BC. And the lights on the right side is from Squamish.

Rixton Clay Pit, one of the pools, the Coot has one chick, the pool goes under the bridge I was stood on and opens up at the other side.
Found in Gordon Falls Reserve Leura, NSW, Australia. Taken a day after heavy rains had visited the area. Already the flow had dropped off, but still a very lush environment.
I've had this shot of a coastal tidal pool in mind for a long time. On the morning of the shoot the wind was blowing a gale and the tide was rapidly on the way in. This is not the sharpest picture but i'm pleased with the overall look.

Eas Chia-Aig are pretty little falls to the East of Loch Arkaig. This image shows the lower of two main falls. The falls are named after a witch hence the image title. Also, as a bit of movie trivia this waterfall is part of the scene where Liam Neeson in Rob Roy, evades capture by jumping off a bridge to only fall down a series of waterfalls with the English in hot pursuit. I believe it is a sequence shot at a few locations but Rob Roys final fall is into the Witches Pool. Take a look at the below link if interested.
