Marino Rocks, South Australia

Yesterday afternoon was yet another beautiful afternoon. Drove down to Merino for sunset while watching the tide come in over the rocks. Found a small island to sit and wait for sunset - note to self : watch tide coming in behind rock islands next time.

Pool Party at a friends home.Taken 050922

Well yesterday, I had some time to myself as the wife went shopping with her Mom, so I decided to head out to Hamilton Pool. It's a swimming hole west of Austin, TX by about 30 miles or so. From what I gather, it was an underground lake or river in which the roof of the cave that it was in fell in and left it looking like so. Pretty cool place I must say

I read something once about being a pool of peace and this leaf brought the memory back to me. It was raining and the wind was blowing hard as I took this image. I noticed that as the wind subsided, the ripples would settle in the leaf. Some days feel that way to me. Out of the blue a wind of anger or sadness might blow over my life but I know the storm will pass. The peace that follows a storm is always a welcome friend.

I described in the caption of this earlier shot how Saiful, my couchsurfing host while I was in Singapore, and his friends spend their time together. It was interesting to contrast this with what I saw of the lives of expats working in lucrative industries like finance and law: condominiums, pool parties, sirloin steaks on the barbecue, single malts and nightclubs I couldn’t afford to get into.

Opal Pool in the Midway geyser basin is one of many geothermal hot springs in the Yellowstone National Park Caldera. Water heated beneath the ground to near boiling surfaces in these springs under low pressure, creating a clear pool. In other areas it arises as geysers or mudpots. The bright colors around the springs are from bacterial action. Opal Pool actually does erupt occasionally as a geyser, but is unpredictable.

This condo unit had a central pool, so I got half of the condo and half of the pool.

Beautiful Image of Ender Falls. I was around this location for a different shoot and when that didn't pay out I turned to this location. I'm glad I did ...

The falls weren't as fierce, but nonetheless, they were still beautiful.
