Panoramic shot of the Pool Deck on the Independence of the Seas. This was taken from a raised deck reached by steps from deck 12 - which has the running track around it. The structure toward the rear of the ship is known as the Viking Crown. It contains a bar and lounge area called Olive or Twist. It also house a games room and a special club room for frequent cruisers who join Royal Caribbean's Crown and Anchor club.
There are not too many people in this shot. It was taken on the first day of a cruise from Southampton down to the Med. The ship was near the start of the Bay of Biscay at the time and the temperature was cooler than usual. When the weather warmed up and the ship was not in port it was a lot more crowded.
This is my 2 year old daughter Emme. My wife and I adopted her from Zhanjiang last year. Here she is playing in her pool.

A glass-topped table sits directly inside a shallow infinity pool at this resort in Baan Nai Wok, ตำบลเกาะพะงัน. Black wicker chairs are arranged around the table, allowing guests to dine while their feet rest in the water. Red-draped cabanas line the edges of the pool, providing shaded seating areas for visitors. Tall palm trees frame the view of the ocean in the distance, creating a tropical atmosphere. The calm water reflects the surrounding greenery and the clear sky above.
Abyss Pool is a 53-foot deep beauty spot along the shore of Yellowstone Lake at West Thumb. In August of 2022 it made the news when a park employee found a shoe containing part of a human foot floating in it. The park service has not updated the original press releases, so I have no additional information to share about the mystery.
In spite of the spooky story, Abyss is one of my favorite features in West Thumb, for its color, clarity, and depth.
more pictures from Laura and Wayne's wedding. They had a pool party after the reception. :) FUN stuff!
Abyss Pool is a 53-foot deep beauty spot along the shore of Yellowstone Lake at West Thumb. In August of 2022 - on the very day I happened to be visiting West Thumb - it made the news when a park employee found a shoe containing part of a human foot floating in it. I, and I imagine all the other visitors like those on the boardwalk to the right, were at the time oblivious to the incident.
The park service has not updated the original press releases. Interestingly I can't find any details about the July 2022 death referenced in the news stories about the incident.

The shadows are of me, and of the railing on the boardwalk that permits viewing of this hot thermal feature from a safe spot.

Quaint card game from 1947 based on making up a train by collecting the necessary 5 cards and moving it out of the station by the use of signal cards. Four sets of cards covering the LMS, GWR, LNER and SR plus a 'wild' or 'Pool' set. Illustrations are a curious mixture of pictures of full size locomotives and wagons and others based on Gauge '0' Hornby. Believed to have been published by Pepys (Castell).
There were further editions of the game, but this is the one which includes "fold out stations". The blue and white box / packet is long gone but the 'stuck on' card' with the illustration of the little girl and the puppy is still with the set.
The Pool Pavilion in St. Louis' Tower Grove Park. The pavilion was built in 1914, restored by a gift from the Gateway Foundation in 1997, and further updated for public use through a Whitaker Foundation grant in 1998 and 1999.
From spring through fall, the Tower Grove Farmers' Market is held adjacent to the Pool Pavilion, when families also can enjoy splashing in the wading pool on the other side of the pavilion.
This pool had a volleyball net and always had music playing. The played all kinds of music but everytime I went by never heard anything I liked. I can never find anything I like on the radio either, I don't think my music is that odd but apparently it is.
