Turquoise Pool is a hot spring in the Midway Geyser Basin of Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming. Turquoise Pool has a temperature between 142 and 160 °F and was named by members of the Hayden Expedition of 1878.

The library hosted a swim party for all kids 6-18 who had read over 30 books in the Texas Reading Club. There was fun in the Friendswood pool, plus grilled hot dogs by the Boy Scouts and popsicles for everyone!
Bromborough Pool was developed from 1853–58 as a "model village" for the workers at the factory of Price's Patent Candle Company. The completed village comprised 142 houses with a church, school, institute, shop and library for Price's workforce. It predates the nearby model village of Port Sunlight just to its north, started in the 1880s.
The village hall was designed by Julian Hall, and was originally a school. It is in yellow brick with dressings in red brick and stone, and with a corrugated iron roof.

Tricky to do justice to the pools and springs. Now I'm home I've been musing that a better way to capture them might be to put my camera on the end of a very long telescopic monopod, so the view is angled down, rather than horizontal.
This is the Dona Beja Pool, found at the start of the Levada do Alecrim. This was a hand held shot, do please with outcome at 1/6 sec.
I was out for a wander in Soho yesterday and came across a small park that included a swimming pool (not terribly unusual here in NYC). Given that its winter and too cold to swim, the pool was drained and closed and had collected a fair number of leaves. The abandoned ladders and stainless siding seemed interesting to me, so I grabbed a few photos through the fence as best I could. These were the shots that stood out for me from the rest of the series.

It may look prehistoric, this 65m - diameter hot spring pool is in fact very "young", only 900 years. 50 000m3 of boiling water are bubbling in a 62m deep hole...

A shot of a pool 200-metres downstream from my usual pool (in the previous 2 photos). This photo was taken in December 2023 - during the hight of the annual wet-season, so the water is flowing pretty rapidly here. This was a live-photo taken with my iPhone at wide-angle and converted to long-exposure.

Cargill Pool, built between 1925 and 1926, is the only Buffalo grain elevator located on Lake Erie (all the others are on the Buffalo River). The grain elevator was invented (or, some say, perfected) in Buffalo in the 1840s and there are still over 30 of these beautiful giants to be seen in Buffalo today.
