This dress was $10 at Target. Score!

For $10, I didn’t get silk, but I really have no problem with modern polyester. It’s the old-school, double-knit stuff that is kind of horrible. Polyester or silk, the dress still makes delightful swishing sounds as I walk and moves well.
(Wikipedia)
The smells on the Odorama Card were as follows: 1. A rose flower. 2. Flatulence. 3. Model Airplane Glue. 4. Pizza. 5. Gasoline in a can. 6. Skunk. 7. Natural Gas from an oven. 8. A new car smell of leather upholstery. 9. Dirty shoes. 10. Air Freshener from an aerosol can.

(Playboy, May 1974) One searches for the right words at a time like this...one can't find them...one gives up and goes to try to read instead, perhaps weeping silently all the while.

'Grunge the Lumberjack': Polyester Crepe de Chine proofing swatch printed by Spoonflower. Spoonflower's newest fabric, lightweight and delicate, would be ideal for thin blouses and scarves. It's pretty well the exact opposite of the dense flannel modeled in 'Grunge the Lumberjack', which was my entry in Spoonflower's '90s Nostalgia Contest'. I was so so happy that my entry placed 13th (out of 185 total entries): THANK YOU to everyone who faved/ voted/ commented: truly made my day!
'Grunge the Lumberjack' is a classic red, black and white flannel plaid with grimy textural overlays, channeling the grunge look of the early 1990s, described by Rick Marin in a NY Times piece in 1992 as: “the smelly-caveman look”, “ratty rec-room chic”, with “the boho-hobo staples of second-hand attire” including “ripped jeans, untucked flannel and stomping boots”. The components of the look were cheap, durable and timeless – rather than chosen for their high fashion statements. "It wasn't like somebody said, 'Let's all dress like lumberjacks and start Seattle chic!' " according to Jonathon Poneman (a founder of Sub Pop - credited with inventing ‘grunge’). “Grunge: A Success Story” by Rick Marin, published November 15, 1992 in the New York Times.
