I found this pink Charlotte Russe dress a while back in the women's section at either Goodwill or St. Vincent de Paul (I can't remember which), sneaked into the dressing room, tried it on... and immediately fell in love. It's a size medium, which creates a nice form-fitting feel on my frame. It also has a nice crisscross pattern in back, which I'll display in a couple more photos in this set.

I can't believe I've never seen the John Waters movie "Polyester".

Very funny! Tab Hunter, and of course Divine as Francine Fishpaw. (you won't see this on Lifetime)

Deboxing the Disney Store's Cinderella Disney Film Collection doll in the blue Royal Ball gown. The front plastic cover has been removed, leaving the doll attached to the cardboard backing.

The Disney doll is nice, but the Mattel doll wins in almost every way. The hair style on the Disney doll is nicer, although neither is very accurate (the promo images of the Mattel show hair that is more accurate than the actual dolls that I have seen). The DS shoes are more movie accurate, but I like the totally clear Mattel shoes better, since they look more like glass. The DS doll's face has a pout, and the Mattel doll has a more pleasant expression, but the DS doll has more personality. The Disney doll's head is larger (like most DS dolls), whereas the Mattel doll has better proportioned head. The Disney gown is bulky and much less accurate than the Mattel gown, although the skirt's stiffness and the petticoat makes it keep it's shape very well. The Mattel gown is truly magical, and flowing, with double layered purple tulle over blue satin. It is much wider than the Disney gown, and the tulle overskirt helps keep its shape. It has many delicate 3D butterflies of different shapes and sizes, made of thin fabric covered in glitter, and attached to the tulle portions of the gown (shoulder and skirt). There are also smaller flat silver glitter butterflies throughout the skirt. The Disney Store has far fewer butterflies, only being in the shoulders of the gown. They are made of thick iridescent plastic, with embedded crystals. There is also glitter throughout the gown, which does shed quite a bit, as well as rhinestones in the organza overskirt. The only area where the Disney Store doll definitely wins is in articulation. The Mattel doll has stiff arms and legs, made of hard plastic, with the arms in fixed but differing poses. The Disney doll has jointed elbows, wrists and knees (internal) that are lacking in the Mattel doll, so she is much more posable. The legs are made of rubbery plastic, that is prone to glitter sticking on them, and this doll has this problem that is common with DS dolls. Finally, the Mattel doll's box is much more impressive and reusable than the Disney one. It is also much wider, allowing for the gown to shown in its full extent, rather than being cramped in a narrow box like the the Disney Store one.

Hear No Evil, 2010. Polyester Resin, Stainless Steel, Light.

Born and based in Barcelona, Plensa has installed numerous iconic sculptures across the globe, including Crown Fountain (2004) in Chicago's Millennium Park and Nomade (2007) in Antibes. UK projects include Breathing (2008), a memorial to international news journalists placed on the roof of BBC Broadcasting House, which projects a fine beam of light every day during the 10 O’clock news bulletin, and Dream (2009), a 20-metre high sculpture created for St Helens as part of Channel 4’s Big Art Project.

Plensa has an international reputation for major exhibitions and public art projects around the world, making sculpture, drawings, prints, acoustic installations and designs for opera and theatre. Pushing technical and artistic boundaries, his often transparent, large-scale sculptures incorporate light, sound and text, inviting the spectator’s active participation in a space where art and language, nature and culture, sound and communication collide and entwine.

The Ariel Eric Doll Set, #12 of 6000, in their boxed state. Photographed using built-in camera flash.

My pre-ordered Ariel and Eric Doll Set, from the Disney Fairytale Designer Collection. It arrived on October 15, 2013, and I was thrilled to see that they are numbered #012 of 6000! It matches the number of the other doll sets in the pre-order, except that Snow White and the Prince is #4508 of 6000. There are some slight scratches on the gold nameplate and on the acrylic cover of the display case, but they are very minor, and don't diminish the look of the set. Ariel's head is posed a bit awkwardly, but I'll see if I can adjust it a bit without undoing any of the shipping restraints. There is also a loose thread hanging from the left sleeve of Ariel's blouse. Otherwise, Ariel and Eric look very beautiful, and in perfect shape. I'm so happy that I have them after failing to get them in the in-store raffle earlier in the day.

I'm not going to debox the dolls in this set, but I am going to take photos of it boxed, with the cover sleeve off, and with the clear acrylic cover off, to show off the dolls as much as possible without actually removing them from their factory restraints.

A polyester male body on top of a chapel as an artform, that is what this is. This building, the Maria chapel in Hoorn, North-Holland, The Netherlands, used to house an art collective. When it became a cinema, this prop probably belonged to the leftovers. It looks really cool, especially when you stand in front of the entrance and look up. Sort of a Flying Dutchman ;-)

The Wicked Witch of the West 11.5'' doll by the Disney Store has been completely deboxed, and is posed standing, supported by a doll stand (not included). She is a movie accurate collectible doll based on a character in the upcoming Disney mixed live action and CGI film Oz The Great and Powerful.

She has green skin and is bald under her black hood. Over the hood is a tall and pointy witches hat, which fits snuggly over her hooded head. She has an angry and determined look on her face, has beady littler brown eyes, arched eyebrows, a pointy hooked nose and pointy chin. She has a heavy dose of rouge on her cheeks and chin. Her small closed frowning mouth has pink lips.

Her fingers are missing the long black claws of the movie character. They are carrying her broom, which is attached to her hands by rubber bands, which I have elected to leave alone. She has the old style (2011) Disney princess body, so she had articulation in her neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists and hips. She has rubber legs, with internal click stop knee joints, and feet in a fixed angled position for wearing high heels.

Her all black outfit is a very accurate copy of what she wears in the movie. Her dress has a faux leather bodice with puffy upper sleeves and stretchy lower sleeves. Over her hands she has cloth half gloves. Her full length knit lace skirt is over a glittery stretchy underskirt; both can be opened in the front to reveal her legs. She has full length stretchy leggings, and knee high boots.

She is very unstable free standing, so I have posed her standing supported by a doll stand, which is not included with the doll.

Cast and polished polyester resin (know in USA by the general name "hard plastic") were made with great craftsmanship in the late 70s and 80s here in Brazil. These are fine examples.
