A sweet roe deer poised to run - on the edge of Portlethen, Aberdeenshire.

My intent was a square, top-down, close-up of this fragile beauty, with appreciable DoF behind, as well as some shadowing from it being evident at the lower right of the capture.

A juvenile Pale Chanting Goshawk surveys the area around the Kalkheuwel waterhole early in the morning. Shortly afterwards he flew down to the waterhole and took a brief bath. This bird will be primarily gray in colour when it matures.

She is in her domain, the confidence rolling off of her, poised and graceful in the eerie fog that surrounds her, seeming to part before her. She makes death look beautiful.

Poised, waiting...

A sphinx moth was another visitor at the butterfly bushes

Friday night, I got a timely text that there was a rotary move heading across the Creston up the Council Bluffs and was poised to run up the Bayard Sub Saturday morning. I cut off the train last night in Pacific Junction and got a few pretty awful post-dusk shots, but loaded up the kiddos and we chased it up to Templeton. I was getting bored with the standard Railroad Highway shots and looking for some just random stuff and remembered there was a nice meandering stream in Panama so thought a drone might do the trick.

White-throated in early spring. Funny enough, they haven't yet arrived around my place this fall. Looking forward to their arrival, even though it signals the beginning of winter. However, I think winter is going to be really fun this year because of my new lens.

Wild Iris - Dietes

The local reds are beginning to look ready for winter with bushier tails and evidence of ear tufts. Good timing, it felt really cold today.

No Group Banners, thanks.

Sock was the only one around after dinner this evening and so he was voluntold as my model. Poor pupper, but he's a trooper.

He was fairly cooperative and I was able to get a shot pretty quickly so it was a relatively painless process for the both of us.

Additionally, this is the first time I've actually felt like I'm getting the hang of my speedlight. I had the lights set just as I wanted with just one or two minor adjustments.

Nice!

Hope everyone has had a good day.

Last week I decided to put the Lloyd's bulk loader into service, and bought 100 feet of Ilford Delta 400 and started rolling my own!

Great film. My favorite 400 speed B&W emulsion. Such wonderful tonal values.
