Little Egret Fishing

American Avocet feeding

This needed a low viewpoint to make the picture work.

The Avocet was serious about finding something to eat and was constantly moving. I had to patiently wait for the moment when the bird would stop long enough for me to click off some shots.

Thank you very much for your visit and comment.

Caracal Griffin, poised to jump. He's 8 years old.

The Caracal is also known as the the African or Desert lynx. They can leap around 3 metres in the air from standing still, hunting with extreme precision. They are highly elusive cats who hunt in woodland, savannah, scrublands and arid regions.

Green Heron

Seen in a classic hunting pose.

From Audubon:

Feeding Behavior

Forages mostly by standing still or stalking very slowly at edge of shallow water, waiting for prey to approach. Sometimes uses "bait," dropping feather or small twig on surface of water to lure fish within striking distance.

Life is an affair of mystery; shared with companions of music, dance and poetry.

(I hope this works for the theme.....the blades of the skates are very sharp)

Male Northern Cardinal ready to fly

A fox poised to pounce on its prey in a field on Ham HIll in Gloucestershire. This attempt was unsuccessful and its prey whatever it was escaped! This was one of a pair of foxes I saw when out with the camera this morning, it is the first time i've been out in over six weeks and the sun was out for most of the day. It's been so long since I last saw it that i'd almost forgotten what it looked like! ho ho ho!

A 22-spot ladybird, poised on a daisy petal. Needless to say, this was from a couple of months ago - not seen either daisies or ladybirds today.

White-faced Heron (Egretta novaehollandiae) juvenile

I spotted this young Heron on a visit to Sneydes Rd. on this day in 2018

Large on black for Ella, since she asked so nicely.

Junonia almana, the peacock pansy, is a species of nymphalid butterfly.

It exists in two distinct adult forms, which differ chiefly in the patterns on the underside of the wings; the dry-season form has few markings, while the wet-season form has additional eyespots and lines.

I just realized I haven't posted a squirrel photo in awhile. Shame on me.

Jumping Spider

This one had been watching the Drone Fly but turned its attention to a smaller Fly as a possible meal.

ID Pending

I spotted this wee one (around 25 mm (1 inch) long, excluding antennae)

I have submitted for ID and will update when I know.

Blue-throated hummingbird

This Great Blue Heron was standing on something natural in the water that was floating freely and was a nice place for him to fish from. Until he made a sudden movement to catch a fish then his floaty-blob perch started to roll and he had to flap around to regain his balance. PS....Hope my Floaty-blob perch reference made sense to most of you and wasn't too technical. ;)

MAGIC SPELL

To explain its efficacy to the point,

sympathy of nature becomes anoint.

The agreement of opposite forces,

like or unlike potential endorses.

Converged in multitudinous attraction,

divine utterance and holy shit fraction.

Spell binding dependence strife,

primal sorcerer and magi arts live.

Ensorcellations by being a fan,

upon another one of the clan.

Love induce mutual approach,

becoming a soul to soul coach.

Evocation and invocation of living things,

wisdoms and virtues liberating wings.

Enchantment in greatest demand,

like prayer and its fascinated wand.

Wrought like musical strings that vibrates,

into a third dimension migrates.

Perception in image of harmony,

affecting others quiet partially.

Sympathy constituted in contraries,

echoes of divine companies.

The soul that knows its history,

is aware and a tuned mystery.

Her source poised to the intent,

the magic spell and cosmic content.

After being taken aback by another pair of Loons that moved into his territory, this confident fellow takes an aggressive posture before chasing the newcomers away. It was quite a sight to see for my daughter and me as we had an up-close and personal view of the display from our Kayaks.

Thanks for viewing and please have a great weekend :)

It was nice to have this Fantail pause on something other than a fence yesterday, and for long enough to get a better image.
