Point Clark Light is one of six “Imperial Towers” constructed around Georgian Bay and the Bruce Peninsula by John Brown in the early 1850’s. All six towers still stand.
Built between 1855 and 1857, the Point Clark light is the only Imperial Tower located on the mainland, and therefore accessible by vehicle. The 90-foot high limestone tower warns mariners of a dangerous shoal which lies a few miles off shore. The tower is topped by a 12-sided lantern framed in cast iron.
The light has been proclaimed a Canadian National Historic Site, and continues as an active aid to navigation.
The keeper’s dwelling and garage also survive. The keeper’s dwelling has been turned into a maritime museum owned by the Canadian Parks Service and operated by Huron Township.

next trip to California will surely include this beautiful spot, which happens to be my favorite place in California. This photo was taken in 2012.
It really should be called "Point DOOM!" with the exclamation mark.
Took myself shooting all the way from Huntington Beach to Malibu. It was a nice drive and had to be thankful for a full tank of gas.
I'm starting to like playing with water in Lightroom 5. Its an awesome program for photo developing.

Point of Ayr lighthouse stands on the beach at Talacre in Flintshire at the mouth of the Dee estuary. Built in 1776, it has been inactive since 1844.
Point of Ayr is the northernmost point of mainland Wales.

About Point Cartwright:
Located close to Mooloolaba on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, Point Cartwright is best known for the Lighthouse perched atop the rocky cliff. The rocks that surround the point are known to be volcanic, due to their unique formations, carved over many thousands of years by the surging tide. The beach is popular with surfers in the region.
This unique headland is surrounded by the Mooloolaba River to the north and the sea to the south and east. The grassy and rocky slopes feature relaxed walking paths and spectacular ocean views
Very seldom do I decide to leave an image alone except for a few minor adjustments. I liked the subtle feel to the image as well as the subtle color. I don't know the name of the plant, so anyone with that knowledge, please speak up.
Pigeon Point Light Station or Pigeon Point Lighthouse is a lighthouse built in 1871 to guide ships on the Pacific coast of California. It is the tallest lighthouse on the West Coast of the United States. It is still an active Coast Guard aid to navigation. Pigeon Point Light Station is located on the coastal highway, 5 miles south of Pescadero, California, between Santa Cruz and San Francisco. The 115-foot, white masonry tower, resembles the typical New England structure. Because of its location and ready access from the main highway, Pigeon Point entertains many public visitors.
Small Romanian Point Lace ornament, about 3.5". When it is washed and stiffened, it could be hung on a Christmas tree. The braids are ecru #20 Cebelia, and the fillings are #30.
I visited in hope and it was realised. These 3 species joined my @22 folder for species/races taken this year.
Prior to walking down to Haunted Bay I took advantage of the early morning lighting around Point Leseuer, this additional walking actually tired me out for the walk as it was a hot day. Here is a broader view of the point taken on Sunday 11th November, 2012.

After the formalities, we were treated to a video recording, transmitted via Zoom, of the one-act play "Fixed Point". The author, David Stuart Davies, played Holmes, with Matthew Booth as Watson, Mark Jones as a reporter, and Kathryn White as a nurse.
It was good to get a WA coded F-35A visiting Lossie this week for the Point Blank exercise. I think this is the first USAF one to actually have landed here. Even practice diversions are rare up here from Lakenheath based jets. Bring back the F-111 with their regular visits.

Frail yet erect, a man gestures with his left arm and points with his right. We have no idea what he points to, or why. Anonymous and alone, he is also almost a skeleton. For the Existentialist philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre, in fact, Giacometti's sculpture was "always halfway between nothingness and being."
Such sculptures were full of meaning to Sartre, who said of them, "At first glance we seem to be up against the fleshless martyrs of Buchenwald. But a moment later we have a quite different conception: these fine and slender natures rise up to heaven. We seem to have come across a group of Ascensions."
In the years leading up to World War II, Giacometti abandoned his earlier Surrealism. Dissatisfied with the resource of imagination, he returned to the resource of vision, focusing on the human figure and working from live models. Under his eyes, however, these models seem virtually to have dissolved. Working in clay (the preparation to casting in bronze), Giacometti scraped away the body's musculature, so that the flesh seems eaten off by a terrible surrounding emptiness, or to register the air around it as a hostile pressure. Recording the touch of the artist's fingers, the surface of Man Pointing is as rough as if charred or corroded. At the same time, the figure dominates its space, even from a distance.
