My first attempt at astrophotography, i.e. making images of starry skies and the Milky Way.
These images were made at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon during two evenings in late October, 2016.
The first evening I shot at Yaki Point, the second evening was at Grandview Point.

The closest point to Hawaii from the Continental United States, Point Arena was a geographically important location for navigation. Hence in 1870 a brick-and-mortar lighthouse was built atop Point Arena. This was damaged beyond repair by the 1906 Great San Francisco Earthquake and for its replacement, the United States Lighthouse Service specified that it needed to withstand another earthquake. It eventually contracted with a San Francisco company specializing in smokestacks, accounting for its long, thin design. The 1908 Point Arena Lighthouse is thus the first lighthouse built of reinforced concrete.
The lighthouse is 35m tall, tied with the Pigeon Point Lighthouse as the tallest lighthouse on the Pacific Coast. It has a 1st Order Fresnel Lens, made up of 666 glass prisms focused toward three sets of double bullseyes, providing two flashes every six seconds. It was automated in 1977.

Clio wore her Sexy Robin costume. It became evident that leggings were necessary. Fortunately, comic book leggings were already on hand, even though my female wardrobe only had 173 items back at that point. [It has over 1000 as of 8 months after this photo.]
Transition Progress at this point: On hormones 2.5 months, full-time female 5 weeks, publicly out as trans 11 days. Boobs sore/growing 6 weeks. Had seen endocrinologist/primary therapist 3X, and concluded secondary therapy after 7 sessions w/2 therapists. Weight down to 143lbs (54 down from 2012). Hair removal: 16 electrolysis treatments (12.5 hours); 25 laser hair removal sessions (41 area treatments: 12/11 mouth/face&neck, 7 chest/armpit, 6 leg, 5 Brazilian, 4 ear); and bi-weekly at-home IPL on arms for 4 months. Latisse for eyelash lengthening for 6 months. 2 dental implants. Pierced ears. Dyed/layered hair (no haircuts for 2.75yrs). Female wardrobe replacement was at 173 items. Total transition expenditures were over $11,000 at this point.

BACKSTORY: We had known about the DC Trans Ladies meetups for awhile, but we had never gone before. Now that Clio was officially out as trans, we went to the DC Trans Ladies Halloween Soiree meetup. It was a costume party, so Clio wore her Sexy Robin costume (and fake boobs--for the last time in at least 8 months), and Carolyn wore a Midnight Angel costume thatwe bought at a yardsale.

Organic gardening is a big deal at the Point Roberts Garden Club which has an annual tour that showcases a breathtaking array of gardens. Their site has "must see" pictures of previous tours and funds raised each year go towards community beautification projects.

The ruins of Fort Crown Point, built by the British in 1759 to secure the strategic Lake Champlain arrows against the French it is now a national historic landmark and part of the Crown Point Historic Site.
A trip to Carmel, California meant a visit to Point Lobos, and an attempt at some Edward Weston-inspired photos of the famous state park.
Whilst most of the UK was recording temperatures, at Spurn Point on the Yorkshire coast it was a beautiful 25 degrees, and great for walking. The remains of a wartime battery now on the beach.
The historic Victorian era station at Point Of Rocks, MD still looks fabulous in the late afternoon light although the signals and the ADA cabinet clutter the picture somewhat. Designed by E. Francis Baldwin and built by the Baltimore And Ohio Railroad in 1873. It is situated at the junction of CSX's Old Main Line and the Metropolitan Subdivision.
