Phoebe is out of commission today as we took her to Dr. Kelly to be spayed. The only really responsible thing to do, as I am only a dog lover, and companion, not a breeder. Don't know the 1st thing about what makes a good pekingese, dachshund, or any other dog breed for that matter. There are too many pets that will be put down, because someone didn't think about what would happen to those cute puppies, or kitties if no one wants them???!!! Over 10,000 animals in Indianapolis, will most likely be euthanized this year. How many in your city or town? Is your pet spayed or neutered?
It was a blah kind of day, but I still wanted to explore along the creek and see if I could find some late winter photographic treasures, as the sky was creating a nice bluish-green cast on the surface of the water. That made the water really stand out among the shades of brown surrounding it. It was a little breezy, so there weren't any reflections being made on the rippled surface.
Since it was a drab sort of day, I also decided to process some of the photos in black and white, using the various contrast modes that Adobe Photoshop Elements offers.
My first Canon camera.
I bought it as a gift to myself for getting a job at the hospital I currently work at.
It goes without saying that I continue to give myself gifts.

A sleeping bat was the last thing I expected to see prior to going inside my chiropractor's office on this fine September 2013.
Here was this little bat sleeping away on the bricks beside the window by the waiting room. I am certain that it was sleeping and not dead because I could see it was breathing.
I approached cautiously as I didn't want to wake it. In a way, I wish it could have woken up long enough to lift its head and give me a better shot.
This is the first and only time I've photographed a bat in the wild (not in a zoo).
Does anyone know what kind it is or if this is normal behavior? It was sleeping on a flat surface - not hanging on a brick wall.
The employees at my chiropractor's office did say they saw bats quite frequently and sometimes they are on these bricks. The bats like the lights over the sidewalk at night because there are plenty of bugs.
Hubbie worked today...so I was watching and listening to a DVD of music videos by director Spike Jonz...can't help but move, baby!!!!!!!!

The Chaika 14 is a Soviet limousine. It was built by the GAZ factory between 1976 and 1988 for the officials. President Gorbachev ordered the destruction of the production tools just before Christmas 1988. He wanted to dismantle the privileges of the Communist leaders during the Perestroika.
Imagine my surprise when in Paris suburbs, round the corner of a street, I saw this car. Only 1100 units were built. Very interesting, because it's a piece of History of a gone era.

The Ohio Foothills challenge theme for the month is "Take me out to the ball game."
So, as teaser/promo photo, I am sharing this baseball-themed photo that I took while photographing a high school baseball game.
