photograph taken on leipzig südfriedhof during pentecoste 2004, using a very very simple pocket camera
Since "Frosty Formations" is the theme of the Ohio Foothills challenge for the month, I have been looking for frosty items to photograph. Then on Monday morning, I got into my car to head to work and noticed how cool the frost looked on the window from inside the car. So, I used my trusty pocket camera and this is what I got.
There is a color version posted in the comments section. I wanted to process it both ways. For this black and white version, I used the infrared setting in Adobe Photoshop Elements 10.0.
Santa didn't seem to be in any hurry to get going when I passed him on a frigid walk today on Christmas eve. He was waving and singing songs. I hope he gets his job done or there will be a lot of unhappy children in the morning! ;)

One of the better streets. Didn't dare to take pictures in the poorer aeras with my pocketcamera. I looked too much like a tourist.
The branches of the barbed plants along the creek have wrapped themselves around this fallen tree trunk as they extend over the water.

Magrish Riverlands Preserve
5000 Salem Rd., Cincinnati, OH, 45230
The James Magrish Riverlands Preserve is a rich river bottom habitat situated along the National Scenic Little Miami River. The present tract exists as a result of the efforts of the city, the Cincinnati Recreation Commission, Little Miami Inc., and the Cincinnati Park Board. Substantial funds were donated by Edith Krohn Magrish, in memory of her husband, James, a strong supporter of Little Miami Incorporated, to make the beauty of the area more accessible to the visiting public. The occasional flooding of the preserve provides an environment suited to the needs of an interesting variety of water-adapted wildlife. Wood Duck, Blue-Winged Teal, Willow Flycatchers and various species of frogs, as well as longed-legged wading birds, like Great Blue and Green Herons reside here. Fox, deer and muskrat can often be seen, as can signs of Beaver activity. The riverside location of this preserve also offers ideal vantage points for viewing river wildlife like painted and snapping turtles, Kingfisher and Osprey. The park features hiking trails, a scenic river overlook and a canoe launch.

When I left to go exercise, I thought I should take a "good camera" with me. I was right.
Walking the path along Crooked Creek today, I heard all kinds of racket coming from two birds. When I finally spotted them, they seemed to be chasing each other back and forth above the creek. The sound they were making was short, sharp repeated chips at a machine-gun like pace.
Unfortunately, I only had my pocket point-and-shoot camera along, so these very poor shots were the best I could do. I'm only posting them in hopes that someone can help me identify what I saw.
I went home to get my Canon 7D Mark II and 100-400 lens, but when I returned, the birds were nowhere to be found. The consolation prize was getting some shots of Cedar Waxwings working on berries in the woods and a few butterflies.
Bird Identification Information: This photo was taken in Waverly, Ohio, USA on November 6, 2016.

It is county fair time again! I found this photo in my stash and pulled it out to share. These hazelnuts were too interesting to pass by without photographing them. I had no idea what hazelnuts looked like straight from the tree. I only envisioned hazelnuts as flavor in coffee creamer and a large component of Nutella spread.
Apparently these were good hazelnuts since they had a blue first place ribbon attached.
So, there's your fun facts for the day!
I'm still working on getting caught up on everyone's uploaded photos. See you soon!
Fence line in the Chilcotin, the clouds were kind of neat hence the title it looks like the clouds are moving.
