Don't you just immediately think of Japanese electronics catalog when you see this image? I know I did. Thanks for the lady for this beautiful smile in Esplanadi Park, Helsinki, Finland.

Hmmm... What to call such a place? I know. Green Park.
Santa was kind enough to take time out of his busy Christmas schedule to make an appearance at the Fairfield VFW club on December 10th, 2011. All the children got to sit on his lap and tell him what they most wanted for Christmas.

Low light and a less than steady hand did not give me the sharpness I would like in this shot of these ferns. Yet, I wanted to post it because I love seeing how they are uncurling before my eyes. So, I tried three different filters from Adobe Photoshop Elements 10.0.
This was taken on the Valley of the Ancients trail at Highlands Nature Sanctuary, which is a part of the Arc of Appalachia Preserve System.
It was a blah kind of day, but I still wanted to explore along the creek and see if I could find some late winter photographic treasures, as the sky was creating a nice bluish-green cast on the surface of the water. That made the water really stand out among the shades of brown surrounding it. It was a little breezy, so there weren't any reflections being made on the rippled surface.
Since it was a drab sort of day, I also decided to process some of the photos in black and white, using the various contrast modes that Adobe Photoshop Elements offers.
In 2012, I caught my first glimpse of Pilot Mountain in North Carolina on the way to Myrtle Beach. It had been years since I had gone to the beach and we did not go by Pilot Mountain on the previous route. New roads have been added, which now lead us past Pilot Mountain.
Since this was the first time I had seen the mountain, I took lots of photos, including a stop at the scenic overlook. I still have to take at least one picture when I go by. I've been to Myrtle Beach two more times since 2012 - once in 2014 and once in 2015.
I am becoming more and more impressed by this tiny camera. Shooting an hand-held macro with wide open aperture under weak lighting condition and without the help of any external artificial light source is quite impressive.
When I shoot jpeg with my S95, I usually set the camera to VIVID mode.
In order to get this option do this:
Click on the "FUNC SET" button (the button in the middle of the rear dial)
Click down two time to the "OFF" option.
Click one to the right to V (VIVID color mode).
Hit FUNC SET to exit
SHOOT!
Unfortunately if you shoot RAW, the vivid option will not be available in the raw converter software (DPP) provided by canon.
I have noticed that the results I get with the vivid mode are similar to what you would get by increasing massively the vibrance option in Adobe Camera Raw or Lightroom. The resulting colours are going to be very agreable without taking the risk of burning the single colour channel (which is exactly what happen when one abuses of the saturation slider..).
From left to right: Kodak Playsport ZX3, Kodak Playtouch Zi10, Flip MinoHD
First of all, I needed to replace my 4GB Flip MinoHD (1st gen) as it's inadequate for my needs as a dash-cam. 1h recording time is not enough, and it shuts down when too hot. - Sold
So I purchased the Kodak Playtouch Zi10 off Dell.ca as it was on a sale. I am very unimpressed with this camera. The touchscreen and UI is nice, but video quality is rather horrid. At 720p, the video looks like upscaled and over-sharpened 480p. Audio quality is also subpar. Though the camera worked fine indoors. - Returned to Dell.
The same day I received the Zi10 I purchased the Zx3 locally as it was coincidentally on a sale. It has much better video quality for my needs, and decent audio, though it's not as good as the Flip IMO. - Returned and replaced by a GoPro Hero 960
Dome directly above "The Divine Healer" at Johns Hopkins University Medical Center. I've not had much time to pick and crop at my images...you get what I got...I've never said I was a great photographer, only that i love to make pictures!

visit
This will wrap up my extensive uploads of Luna Moth photos (unless I find another one before the frost hits). I do have one other photo on my iPhone of my first Luna Moth of the summer, but I have not posted it yet. The white one that I just posed was the third sighting of the summer.
This series was my second separate Luna Moth sighting. I was surprised and glad to see this one managed to stay unharmed, clinging to the stairs leading into a local high school athletic complex. With so many people coming and going, it would have been easy for this moth to get in harms way. It managed to stay there, headed up a step, for several hours. What became of it after I left is anyone's guess.
There are eight more photos saved in comment boxes and behind this one in my stream.
This is one of my famous (or not so famous) through-the-windshield shots. I hadn't ever seen a big chicken like this before to advertise for chicken inside this gas station.
He was a bit too much in the shadows but I like the shadow patterns also along with the movement of the pedestrians.
My friend and I visited Barefoot Landing briefly during our visit in 2012 because she had one particular store she wanted to patronize before we met some other friends for dinner.
While walking through, I noticed this turtle swimming in a pond. When I paused near the edge to take its picture, it started swimming closer to me. This sequence of shots shows it getting closer and closer. I'm sure it was hoping I had something to feed it, but I didn't have any turtle food.

One of my favorite skirts...wore it recently during our trip to Austin, TX...out on the town. Had a wonderful dinner at Louie's 106, and drinks later at the Driskill Hotel Bar...for my 50th from my best friend. She sent us tickets to Austin, too...Do I have a fantastic best friend or what?!!!
