As you approach my hometown of Norwalk while traveling west on Imperial Highway, to your right you will see this auto salvage place. What makes it a little interesting are the two metallic dinosaurs perched atop their roof.

Marcel (left) turns 50 this week. Here, he and his wife are traversing (climb horizontal) on a beautiful multipitch-route in the Orpierre area in the south of France. This half-a-day climb and descent is one of my most favoured climbs in the area.

I used a small, light pocketcamera for this shot. When you do such a climb, you have to go as lightweigthed as possible.

A beautiful Autumn day at Beaulieu Abbey.

I photographed these two weeks ago and they were nice and full.

I thought I'd see how the Macro feature worked on the Olympus Tough TG6.

I still have some experimenting to do in better situations.

Note to self, when down on my knees trying to get close to something .... the goat AND the dog MUST also see what you are doing.

I'll go back without my hiking pals to try this again.

I'll also try out the in camera focus stacking to see how IT stacks up.

Near Fells Point in Baltimore on a water taxi...I loved the reflections on the water, and the peaceful trip across the harbor.

According to the plaque, the clockface facing the docks is intentionally missing its clock. Apparently to stop clock-watching.

It was a year ago today that we had services and burial for my mother...I was fortunate to have had my mother for 50 years of my life...She was 92 with Alzheimers, when she passed after a long five years in nursing care. Mom was tired and it was time for her to meet up with my dad and my brother who had gone before her.

Today would have been like any other day that I miss her, except for one more loss. My former work friend, Linda, left this world at the age of 50, last Sunday. She has two beautiful young women for daughters who will miss their mother dreadfully, as they are barely grownups. Their mother will miss their weddings, babies, dinners, birthdays, and their tears. Many of the conversations I was blessed to have had with my mom, they will have with aunts, and friends of their mom's.

Linda died from a breast cancer of a most virulent type...while she was not saved by early detection, we as women all know friends and family members who have been given more life from a mammogram.

I for one, am horrified by the recent "findings" espoused about our health, and the numbers they SAY, prove it is NOT worth it to do mammograms on woman under 50.

Let's storm the mammogram clinics and demand they squeeze 'em, because losing one more sister, aunt, mother, cousin, or friend, is not acceptable.

These are roses from my mother's memorial and I dedicate them to Linda Sue Faulkenberg.

In honor of the first day of Fall/Autumn, I have to say farewell to summer.

Cousins Andrew and Anna were more than happy to oblige my quest for water photos when I brought my waterproof camera to our Labor Day weekend gathering. I think they were more fascinated with taking the camera underwater themselves than actually having me take their picture with it.

The surprise of the day was having a cloudburst rain downpour come during the middle of our pool time. This is Andrew trying to peer through the pounding rain.

I've never been in a pool during a cloud burst before this downpour. The rain was blowing sideways with huge droplets splattering about us. Even with goggles, it was hard to see through the rain and wind. I just kept taking photos the whole time with my underwater camera and hoped they would turn out "cool", and they did. But as usual, it took me a while to post them.

Below is a photo of Anna doing a one-armed handstand.

"Always carry a camera!" -- There are potential photos etched in my memory from times in the past when I didn't have a camera. Most of those times were in the film days. Once digital pocket cameras became affordable, that problem was resolved. Now in the age of smart phones, nearly everyone has a camera at all times.

I wrote all of that to say that I've taken a lot of car window photos since getting that pocket camera and I have no regrets. Digital is so forgiving. If you don't like it, delete it.

This is a series of "out the window" shots taken in the fall of 2013. It was golden hour and late fall. That combination made for some nice shots, even if it was from a moving car.

"Attention! Road under construction" So now you know :-) It's the road from Kalikratis to Miriokefala in Crete. If you take this road anyway and you're driving a normal car - you're out of luck. After a few kilometers you really need a 4x4 to go further and turning back is not that simple either...
