With the Sun now moving northwards since our Summer solstice, more opportunities arise for random spot lighting. A plastic rubbish bag took advantage this afternoon.
Playing around with Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) and one of my light tools reflected in a bathroom mirror. Love this fun technique.

As for the shot above it was done at an abandoned retirement home. It was a collaborative effort w/ Jeremy aka tackyshack who is a light painting genius.

Hawkes Bay Club.
The Club House is a Heritage Listed Building, category 1, which has existed through two World Wars, The Great Depression, the Napier Earthquake 1931, and many other momentous events in New Zealand / Aotearoa
I was experimenting with different lighting angles, ISO settings and White Balance when I took this one. I love the way the tulip seems to glow from within. I'm going to use a polarising filter next time, to try to sort out the double reflection, but this was a first attempt and it was fun :-)

La qualità e la composizione della foto non è delle migliori (ho dovuto eliminare la sfocatura) però, l'effetto creato dalla luce del sole, che scende dall'alto mi ha colpito tantissimo.
Mi sa che mi dovrò dotare di cavalletto: consigli? Qualcosa di leggero ma solido, robusto per affrontare gli "sballottamenti" da viaggio.

Monday was a very busy day with very little time for much other than what needed doing; spent the evening out with my Mom getting some last minute shopping done and realized as we were about to leave that I hadn't turned the camera on all day.
Tried a few things, but the mall was limited in options so I ended up shooting the lights hanging by the elevator, bokeh style.
Simple, but effective!

Most people familiar with my stream will be aware of my fascination with people. But my recent retreat to some gloriously deserted coastline made for an equally glorious peopleless distraction.
So… here’s a short series playing with the light in The Gower [South Wales].

I designed my costumes on the fly this morning when trying to come up with a photo idea. We had record low temperatures yesterday and today doesn't feel any warmer. The sun popped out for just a few minutes while the snow barely started to fall. I hope you are staying warm wherever you are.
cause there are things that I've seen that I don't believe. So cling to what you know & never let go. you should know that things aren't always what they seem.

Scurolo di Sant'Alessandro Martire - Fontaneto d'Agogna (NO)

Lo scurolo, come comunemente viene chiamata la rotonda di Sant’Alessandro, si articola a sud della parrocchiale della B.V. Assunta di Fontaneto.
Questa chiesa è frutto di numerosi interventi architettonici. Indirettamente è citata la prima volta in una carta del 1330, riguardante il “prato magno di Santa Maria” di proprietà dell’Abbazia benedettina di Arona. Le indagini archeologiche del 1999 la attestano come edificio cimiteriale romanico. Ricostruita nella seconda metà del Quattrocento dal miles Filippo Maria Visconti e riconsacrata nel 1472, acquista l’immagine barocca tra il 1628 e il 1630, secondo le prescrizioni tridentine dei vescovi novaresi. Più tardi, nel 1827, è ampliata in tre navate per iniziativa del vicario don Martino Jelmoni.
Ricevute nel 1839 dal canonico Paolo Durio, allora in prelatura a Roma, le spoglie del martire Alessandro e traslate in pio pellegrinaggio in compagnia della contessa Caterina Lucini Passalacqua Visconti, l’arciprete nel 1841 contatta l’architetto Alessandro Antonelli per la formulazione del “disegno” del sacello.
Antonelli è di casa a Fontaneto: fin da giovane vi trascorre le vacanze presso la zia materna Lucia Bozzi Cavallazzi. La sorella Giuseppa dal 1836 è qui residente e per un certo periodo abita un’ala del castello acquistato cinque anni prima dal fratello primogenito Antonio. Al momento della commissione il cognato Giovanni Morotti è sindaco del paese.
Nell’ottobre 1842 il professore è in loco per tracciare la planimetria dell’edificio in rapporto al preesistente e il 27 novembre viene benedetta la prima pietra. La struttura circolare coperta da cupola è propedeutica alle successive e più complesse sperimentazioni del maestro.
La pianta dell’edificio (12 metri di diametro), definita dalla sequenza di 12 colonne alveolate nei diaframmi murari, è in assonanza con il metodo antonelliano caratterizzato dal sistema costruttivo a fulcro, lo stesso che in quegli anni l’architetto utilizza nel progetto per la cupola di San Gaudenzio di Novara.
Gli esiti eclettici sono il risultato della sintesi di ricerche tecnico-strutturali e di presenze di derivazione classica: come la forma che richiama quella del Pantheon romano, l’ordine corinzio delle colonne e i lacunari fioriti dell’intradosso di copertura, un tempo arricchiti dal rosone in stucco.
Le parti murarie sono completate nel 1843.
Per l’elegante apparato decorativo viene contattato lo scultore novarese Giuseppe Argenti, che due anni dopo esegue le 12 statue in terracotta con i santi onomastici degli illustri committenti, proprietari in Fontaneto.
Iniziando da destra si susseguono:
San Melchiorre, (offerta da Melchiorre Sacchi);
San Luigi (offerta da Caterina Verona Fortis);
San Carlo (offerta dal conte Borromeo);
San Giuseppe (offerta da Francesca Scalini Ferrari);
Santa Elisabetta (offerta dalla Contessa Elisabetta Visconti Borromeo Ottolini);
San Domenico (offerta dalla signora Domenica Conelli);
San Sebastiano (offerta dal Conte Pirro Visconti);
Santa Caterina (offerta dalla contessa Caterina Lucini Passalacqua Visconti);
San Gaudenzio (offerta da Carlo Andrea Ferrari);
San Giovanni Battista (offerta da Giovanni Battista Zenoni).
Sono di Argenti anche i quattro angeli dei pennacchi dello sfondato dell’altare e dell’arco di ingresso all’invaso.
I dieci bassorilievi in stucco bianco, che coronano le specchiature, sono commissionati allo stesso Argenti il 29 novembre 1847. Come si legge in alcune memorie lasciate dall’artista rappresentano:
1) Congresso dell’Imperatore per la persecuzione dei cristiani;
2) Ordine dell’arresto del Santo;
3) Arresto del Santo nella cella;
4) Il Santo davanti al giudice;
5) Pene di strazi per convertirlo agli dei pagani;
6) Altro martirio;
7) Il Santo in carcere visitato da un angelo e confortato che presto avrà acquistato il Paradiso;
8) Il martirio del Santo che lo conduce a morte e l’anima che sale al cielo per essere fregiata di palma e corona de martiri;
9) I Cristiani trovato il corpo del Santo cercano di sottrarlo dalle guardie dell’imperatore;
10) Il Santo portato nelle catacombe viene depositato in un’urna come altri cristiani.
Il “marmorino” Stefano Bossi nel 1849 realizza l’altare con le balaustre. Nel progetto Antonelli ripropone la stessa forma a tempietto, di ascendenza zanojana, già impiegata nella sua prima opera giovanile datata 1821: l’altare dell’oratorio di San Rocco in centro al paese.
L’intagliatore Bosio di Torino esegue l’urna in legno dorato; nel settembre il pittore Giuseppe Raineri dipinge in stucco lucido le pareti e Giovanni Maggi indora i capitelli “di lucido e smorto”.
L’11 agosto 1850 la Rotonda è inaugurata con la traslazione solenne delle reliquie del Santo.
