Happy Cliche Saturday everyone!

PLEASE , do not comment with GROUP INVITATIONS or GLITTER IMAGES !

Experimenting this morning with a glycerin, a weed seed, light and my daughter's sparkly shoes. I find it fun and frustrating to try to create the image I have in mind. Off to play some more today with my family, enjoying our time off together during this month. Thanks for stopping to see my light and fluff today, may your day be filled with sparkly goodness too.

Wintermorgen Spaziergang

It's nearly Halloween, heres my pumpkins. I'm sure I'll probably be light painting with pumpkins tomorrow night too, and Halloween night of course 👻

Experimenting with spraying the bubble with a fine mist while taking my photo. It left an interesting pattern on the bubble and luckily I had a neighbor driving down the street that illuminates the bubble from behind. I also had an idea to drop food coloring onto the bubble to see what sort of effect it would have. After turning the fire hydrant blue I sort of panicked worrying that it would be permanent, I can happily report it cleaned off easily and I am excited to try more experiments with paint, food coloring, and who knows what else. Feel free to give me other ideas to try, this has been such a fascinating subject!

There are so many websites and self-help books for people who are chasing happiness. I can understand this because oftentimes when I have chased material acquisitions it has never actually made me happy. I am someone who immediately gets buyers remorse after making a large purchase and feel that monkey on my back and resent the stress it creates.

My daily happiness comes from feeling alive, free and connected. I get up early, start with exercise, 10 min of mindfulness, coffee or tea, nourishing food, creativity (photography or writing), and connect with family/friends even just a quick text. This routine sets the stage for my day and I find I notice more of the little things each day that bring joy to my life.

Tea bag wisdom - if we give happiness to others we will end up happy

FYI - to light this shot all I did was open the door to let the light in

Playing with light

Amusement park ride called the Sea O Ray. Basically it was like a pirate ship swinging from side to side. Again, I like the light trails it emitted.

I like nonsense; it wakes up the brain cells. Dr. Seuss

I taped a purple gel on my window to get the background color. The tulip petals are pulled back to reveal the inside of the flower and I am using the 100mm macro with 2 extension tubes.

Playing with light and high key, don't know what I actually wanted, just tried something...

no photoshop - just playing - the kids had much fun !

I've been wanting to try light trails with a camera mounted inside the car. The Christmas lights are up and it started to rain so it seemed like a great time to give it a go - and quickly discovered all the pot holes in the road.

One of my cousins is in the hospital right now and she is in critical condition because of a blood clot that went to her brain. She delivered her baby boy, a preemie, a couple of days ago. I can't imagine the grief and stress that they are all going through right now. We are all just waiting and hoping and praying that she will recover. I wanted this image to represent the chaos that is life.

This amusement park ride elevated really slowly to the top, then suddenly just dropped. Not for me! But I liked the light trails. :)

Exploring more light table subjects. I'll work this out of my system soon but wish I had a bit more artistic flair in the arrangements. I sort of just plopped things down. Trying to figure out the best way to process these too, I guess I need to watch some Photoshop tutorials on layers and HDR processing.

Happy Father's Day! Not everyone has a Father who should be celebrated so I hope that there are men in your lives who have been positive influences.

I decided to capture a quick splash image using my speed lights and a softbox behind my subject. Next time I would do more cleanup on the surface because it is a bit sloppy. It was a learning and a play day which may not produce the best results but I am just sharing the process, mistakes, and all.

Victorinox or Swiss Army knife with all the attachments—amazing they’re still there. Focal point is on tiny scissor tips. Grid only looks warped. That's what is fun about playing with light. A trip back to the Matrix: I just had to think I was the steel grid, or something...

Just think. If we replaced guns and assault rifles with these tiny Victorinox tools, what a happy, productive society we could be, at least in the US.

Off to write my congresswomen.

Las sombras no son más que el eco que proyecta la luz del sol. Un teatro de sombras chinas en donde solo se muestra una parte de lo que ves.

play it

I experimented with glycerin drops on a metal pizza peel and a purple gel over my ice light to create this abstract image for Purple Week. It is always fun to play and see what can created with few props.
