Native to Asia and easily grown in the Napa Valley, the camellia is one of nature's examples of perfect symmetry. Like the identical wings of the butterfly, the various forms of the camellia flower are perfectly shaped, with golden stamens as punctuation marks that say, "Look at me."

Camellias of the japonica species have six different flower forms. Some flowers are rose like; others resemble anemones or peonies. The three other forms are known as single, semi-double and formal double. The japonica varieties may grow to 20 feet or more. Drive around Napa's Old Town to see some of the older camellias that have grown into trees.

A forest of pink flower heads. Sedum is an old-fashioned perennial forming blue-green rosettes of succulent foliage throughout summer. Towards mid-summer, flat tightly-packed heads of green buds form, opening later in the year to reveal masses of tiny bright pink flowers. Sedum is highly attractive to butterflies and insects.

Some Muslim women chose to wear black abayas (long gowns), odd given how black attracts heat, particularly in the hotter Arab countries. Wearing black is often peddled as the colour for Muslim women but this has no basis in Islam, rather it is a cultural practice. This is proven by many things, including Aisha, the wife of the Prophet Muhammad for example, wearing a pink abaya when she went on pilgrimage from Medina to Mecca. Thankfully, large swathes of the Muslim world do not follow this cultural practice with Malays and Indonesians (the world's largest Muslim country) wearing the most beautiful bright colours, including pink.

Come on Summer these shoes need wearing!

'Miss Twinkleton here achieved a curtsey, suggestive of marvels happening to her respected legs, and which she came out of nobly, three yards behind her starting-point.'

Interestingly the pink one is also known as 'Queen Sirikit', (Queen of Thailand). It was so named to commemorate her first visit to the Philipines in the 1970's. The only mussaenda ever to be given a name of a person not of Filipino origin. And the white Mussaenda - Mussaenda philippica ‘Aurorae’ was named after Dona Aurora, wife of a former President of the Philippines. Interesting, isn't it? .. Some Internet research :-))

I fear the wet heavy snow last winter has ended the bulk of the chinense. It is broken and beaten, but still able to produce the odd blossom. I think we will cut it right back and see what happens.

Pink petals passing

Scents above so high

Painted porcelain perfection

Blossoms caress the sky

Swaying silent shroud

Suitors strolling by

Pink petals passing

Lover's gentle sigh

Pastel hues falling

Slow fluttering grace

Pink petals passing

Lining streams in lace

Pink petals passing

Smoothest transit by

Soft essence floating

In most subtle lullaby

Inducing springtime slumber

Upon a satin shore

Sailing with the current

Pink petals pass before

It a bit difference as I experience on Flickr. I don't know is it the same for another countries?

The rocks around the flowers and the aperture created the misty effect and I could not resist adding a pink hue to it...

A Pink Rose for someone who cares

A Pink Rose for someone who shares

A Pink Rose for someone who loves

A Pink Rose for someone who is called Mother.

PINK, PINK, PINK

Pink is pretty,

Pink is nice.

A lovely little colour,

Filled with sugar and spice.

It makes you feel happy,

It makes you feel great.

Pink is my favourite colour,

If it were human it'd be my best mate.

All kinds of pink, I sure do love,

But why? I do not know.

It's just the sight of that colour,

That picks me up when I'm low.
