An acquaintance invited me to use his yard to witness the nightly incursion of egrets to a nearby tree. It was astonishing.

I was trying to photograph a Great-Crested Flycatcher when I realized the pollen was covering my son's car. When I looked at the hood, I realized the reflections of the pine trees were blurred by the yellow pine pollen that is covering everything! It even gets in my eyelashes when I am in the garden and the wind blows.

Just some tree shots from earlier in the year....all to soon they will be covered with snow.

Snow at sunrise in the pacific northwest. I will never tire of how beautiful the snow looks on these trees. A pink sky is an added bonus.

The little things

I was set to shoot birds, but didn't see any. Then I saw this Pine Tree branch some 50m away. Well, I had my 1.4TC on my 400L lens so I gave it a try! Of course it is hand-held!!!

The Sumac trees are beautiful here this time of year.

Try clicking to enlarge; it's neat!

Thanks for looking, etc.:)

A pine tree photographed at Fontainebleau State Park from the old boardwalk which is no longer there....but maybe someday they will replace it. I was watching an osprey at long distance when I shot this tree. This tree survived Hurricane Katrina. :-)

I can't even tell where it came from. No sign of a stump. Maybe it's the top of a tree still standing. It must have done a flip since the base is pointed in the wrong direction.

Our tree lady is busy getting the tree off of that neighbor's house.

Pinetrees on a mire outside Arvidsjaur, Sweden

Imperial Palace, Kyoto, Japan

Started yesterday morning and then started accumulating in the afternoon. It snowed for more than 24 hours with about 12 to 18" of snow here! This was taken early yesterday before the accumulation really started.

The shot kinda has a little lens glare but I like the colors

God loved the birds and invented trees. Man loved the birds and invented cages.

A picturesque picnic stop along Yosemite valley

This is a pair of volunteer Pine trees. They began somewhat undetected about 2 feet (60cm) from the foundation of our house on the north side. I know that these would grow and expand, both above ground to where their branches would brush against the house. Underneath, their roots could compromise the foundation. I will need to transplant them, but should I keep them together like this, and preserve their current root system, or separate them and possibly threaten their survival? Any botanists out there that can offer a suggestion? I want to get these transplanted this spring if possible. Thanks in advance for your advice.

The subtle background color is what makes this shot interesting; although there is snow, it was taken in the fall when the foliage had not completely changed, so there is a hint of orange/red in the background.
