a celebration with neighbor contributions. The dish on the right became a deep dish dinner pie when the crust shrunk to much in the pre-baking that I knew it wouldn't hold all the ingredients required. So I placed the crust in the bottom of the dish, added everything on top and baked it.

In my world, cheesecake is pie!
Cheesecake (from homemade cream cheese and sour cream) slathered with homemade Meyer lemon curd and topped with raspberries.
Knowing that there would be many sweet pies, and remembering Andrew Bird's gleeful "both savory and sweet" description of the snacks there would be at the end of the world, I decided to make a savory pie for Pi(e) Day.
From the recipe, continued:
When you're ready to bake, remove the pie from the refrigerator. Tent the top of the pie loosely with aluminum foil, making sure not to let the foil come into contact with the cheese.
Bake on a pizza stone or cast iron surface in a 425F oven for 12 minutes; then without opening the oven, reduce the heat to 375F and bake for 35 more minutes. Remove the foil and bake for 10-20 more minutes until the edges are brown and the cheese is golden and crunchy.
mission accomplished!! my boss is adequately pie-faced.
I have no idea what I'm doing with my hands, but I was laughing quite hard!!
good times at work!!
I believe this will end up propelling me up the corporate ladder!
:)
not taken by me, obviously, taken by Leslie.

Since I am occasionally asked how I created the Claridonut (see www.flickr.com/photos/jonsphotos/2306164693/) I thought I would illustrate the process.
Mrs Riemann giving birth to more Claridonuts (TM) both conformally and holomorphicly. No sure if she is married since singularities may be involved. Also may live in eastern Europe since there may be some poles involved as well.
If none of this makes any sense please feel free to completely ignore it. If it does make sense feel free to question your sanity.
...and, no, I have not really trademarked the Claridonut since I really can't figure out how to actually play it.
Pi Day was dreamed up 27 years ago to celebrate 3.14 on 3/14, but this year the geek dial is being turned up to 15 — as in 3/14/15. And this'll be the only year until 2115 that you can turn the dial up to the max, at 3/14/15, 9:26:53, an exact match for pi's first 10 digits.

Almond-Pear Tart.
Pears were tossed with lemon juice, cinnamon and sugar. Filling is made of almond paste, an egg and powdered sugar. Dotted with butter and sprinkled with cardamom before baking.
Good thing we installed that gazillion-place-setting dishwasher last year! But I think we're missing half a dozen cups...
