I have only just learned from an erudite English mathematician that March 14 (3.14) is Pi (π) Day in countries that use the month/day date format. In Australia we use the day/month format so our turn will come on 22/7. However, as I type, it's still 3.14 in some parts of the world, and so in recognition of Pi Day, and in deference to Archimedes, here's a π crop of a big swell I was watching this morning.

Hope you've all had a great Pi Day! But please do me a favor - do not tell the chickens they are sitting on a chicken pot pie!!! :D

The Mosaic Montage Monday theme is "Pi Day".
3/14, is Pi Day, a day to celebrate the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter. Pi, also written as the Greek letter π, is an irrational transcendental number. That means it can't be written as a fraction, and its decimal places continue forever.
This piece of digital art combines sections of two previous digital pieces, an extruded letter Pi (filled with the actual number itself) and an old photo of mine of the RMIT Desgin Hub building that has it's entire outer surface covered in circular discs.
When I was at school I memorised Pi to 15 decimal places, and can remember it to this day 3.141592653589793 ......

A SpaceX Falcon 9 launches the twenty-second batch of Starlink satellites at 6:01 this morning, just before the first light of the morning. This is actually the first Falcon 9 booster to successfully launch and land nine times, thus being the current fleet leader. I must also wish you happy Pi Day, which is the perfect holiday to launch a rocket on!
Happy Pi Day to me! 68 years around the sun and I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up!

Macro Mondays
Pie (aka cake)
Pi-Day ...
I am better at baking cakes than pies ...
Pas de tourte aujourd'hui mais du cake aux raisins.
Niente pasticcio oggi ma dolce all'uvetta.
Pi Day is an annual celebration of the mathematical constant π (pi). Pi Day is observed on March 14 (the 3rd month) since 3, 1, and 4 are the first three significant figures of π, and was first celebrated in the United States] It was founded in 1988 by Larry Shaw, an employee of a science museum in San Francisco, the Exploratorium. Celebrations often involve eating pie or holding pi recitation competitions. In 2009, the United States House of Representatives supported the designation of Pi Day. UNESCO's 40th General Conference designated Pi Day as the International Day of Mathematics in November 2019. -- Courtesy Wikipedia
So today is the day to enjoy a big tasty slice pf Pie!
For Macro Mondays theme pie.
I really didn't think I was going to get a photo made for this week's theme but circumstances led to pizza for dinner today and I had a few minutes of free time.
And yes, I did cut the number "3.14" out of a slice of pepperoni.
On July 22nd the “We’re Here!” gang celebrated the Real Pi Day at The Real Pie group. I celebrated with a spinach quiche pie I made the night before, but my photo is late because the Real Pi Day was also the day I worked from 5:00 am until 9:30 pm on a crunch assignment. Then the next day, Thursday, was internet disaster day in my neighborhood, and I did not get back on line until this evening (Friday). It’s great to be back in touch with the world.
Nice of you to visit on #PiDay. I'm a big fan of rationality, but you... I love how irrational you are! #MathIsCool

It’s March 14th, which means The Hereios are in a tizzy about PI DAY!
Pi Day began at the Exploritorium in San Francisco in 1988. Physicist Larry Shaw organized a celebration with staff and public marching around one of its circular spaces, then consuming fruit pies. The Exploratorium continues to hold Pi Day celebrations.
I thought I’d try the 22/7 trick on my phone calculator to see if it would come up with Pi. It did not – although I did at least get 3.14. Oh well – after the day I had, it will just have to do. I’m going to bed!
Happy Pi Day!
It's 20 years about that I have been having this Cymbidium orchid plant and every time it blossoms I photograph it, trying new arrangements, angles and framings. It was gifted to me for my Birthday and the number of flowers corresponded exactly to my age. Lately the plant can't keep up blossoming additional flowers in the same amount as my years, oh well, maybe it's me who can't keep up ;-)
Shot in leaning diagonal perspective with the effort of keeping the whole composition totally in focus from the closest to the farthest flower.

What better way to celebrate Pi Day than with a homemade Apple Pi ? How about some homemade Mince Pies, or a Key Lime Pi, a Chocolate Mousse Pi, a Raspberry Pi, or maybe a Pecan Pi. We've invited the neighbors over to celebrate and that's the dessert menu. Main course ? A half dozen Pizzas with all manner of toppings.
Have yourselves a great Pi Day, friends ! Slainte !

I had to shoot this through a bunch of trees. I heard them up in the Church yard so had to sneak up the laneway. Unfortunately, the sound of the shutter even though I was sure I had it on quiet startled them just after and they all flew into the trees.

How often does Pi Day fall on the full moon? Perhaps an average of once about every 29 years.
This is a very small slice of Key lime pie.
Today is Pi Day. Cherry 🍒 says every day should be Pie Day! 💞💕💖🍒
This was previously posted in February 2021 for Cherry Pie Day.
Don’t worry about Cherry getting sticky in the pie pan. She was cut & pasted into my photo of the pie pan! 🍒👱♀️

It's March the 14th.. also known as the day of celebration for the superstar of math.. Pi!! 😃
I had planned on doing something outside with friends for Pi-Day.. and taking some pics of that. But everyone is self-quarantining themselves and so am I.. just to be safe.
Hope you're still all having a great weekend and that you're safe and healthy! ❤
