My first attempt at a photogram

Jello Print. One of the first that I did. Printed on a color enlarger in 1974. It always looked somewhat like outerspace to me.

Using washing up liquid to create bubbles in a glass dish on top of the light sensitive paper. Light shone from above on 9 sec timer.

Challenging traditional representation of ordinary/mundane to look alien here - like a satellite image.

Dandelion photogram from the Photograms project in Photography A Level 2016

Photograms are something students play with in the early days when learning how darkroom materials work. They are then abandoned, never to be experimented with again. I made this to show how photograms can be taken further when scanned and manipulated with computers.

It is an unfortunate fact that we can secure peace only by preparing for war.

A digital photograph layared with an example of my experiments with applying developer to a photogram in different ways e.g. using a spray bottle, a sponge or paint brushes.
