So this was part of a set of 5 photograms that I did, they were my first ever. I used a block of crystal that I found. It was more like a rock as it had sharp edges and many different angles. Looked like some kind of rock that had been pulled out of a quarry and converted into crystal.
This was a straight up photogram, no fooling around.

Photograms. Experimenting with found objects and printing on translucent materials. Influenced by MoHoly Nagy and Man Ray.
We were asked to create all the letters of the alphabet and numbers from different surfaces or objects found in Elephant and castle where our college is based. I went over to the shopping centre and came across these objects which I then took to the dark room and formed letters using the technique photograms. I thought this would be a way to capture the letters clearly by messing around with the different objects, but also capture the transparency of each object depending on how clearly the light travelled through.

I printed a copy of a manipulated negative with an ink jet printer and then used it as a paper negative to reproduce this "photogram".
This photogram is made by Emilio Amero in 1932 and is called "Wine and Hair". I chose this photogram because I found it very interesting looking. The first time I looked at it, I thought it looked like a large sea shell in the middle with very thin strings all over the photogram, wine glasses and small objects that resemble bubbles. This photogram made me look twice and made me think obvious objects are different from what they really are in the photo. I also like how the glass that is in the upper left corner has a glow and foggy appearance. All the objects are very well composed. This is a very well made photogram by Emilio Amero.
