I made this today in my drawing and composition class. We collected garbage and made scans and next we're drawing our scans.
Using washing up liquid to create bubbles in a glass dish on top of the light sensitive paper. Light shone from above on 9 sec timer.
Challenging traditional representation of ordinary/mundane to look alien here - like a satellite image.
Samples (right): Various melted plastics, canvas, paper, dyed linen, hessian with stitch.
Photograms (left): Photosensitive paper developed in darkroom.
This photgram was done by Anna Atkins who was the first woman photgrapher. This was from her book of works, Photographs of British Algae, specifically this print was named Cyanotype Impressions.
Rather than exposing through a negative onto the photography paper I splashed water over the unexposed paper and placed my hand over the paper under the enlarger and exposed the paper.
I developed as normal and this was the result.
