Double exposure of Avebury and flowers with lily photogram

photogram created in Darkroom Magic Workshop, Carclew Holiday Program, January 2010

I had so much fun making these last semester. When i randomly grabbed some pages from an old magazine, I was going more for the images, but I ended up LOVING the way the typography turned out.

Becky and I's first attempt at a photogram. This kind of photography (if you can call it that) was pioneered by Man Ray.

This is not computer edited effect. Objects were placed on the enlarger easel and expose. These are my belongings. No wonder my bag are piling on my shoulder.

Year produced : 2001

Photogram through a chiffon top- placed ilford (multigrade cooltone- pearl) inside the top and exposed for 2 seconds

Another go at a fractal landscape photogram. This time reversed using the initial print as a paper negative.

More experimenting with technique than anything else but pretty happy with how it came out. (My piece of plant is beginning to show the strain, especially round the stem.) The background could maybe be a bit better arranged but you try and balance three rocks on top each other in the dark, without moving them relative to the paper..;)

Next step is to see if I can get a bit of texture into the hills with retouching.

A photogram using a crystal glass and thread.

my first time ever to even develop a piece of photographic paper...

SO MUCH FUN!!!

(the assignment was dealing with various density)

First output from my photography class this semester. Haven't made one of these in ages.

Lumen Print 541 Silver Maple Seedlings. Ilford MG 8x10 RC paper after fixing with sodium thiosulfate.

I am taking photo this semester and the first thing we did was learn to develop prints by making a photogram!

This is my first ever print made in a darkroom!

go team!

photogram made with matches was developed half-way, washed and dried, then once more exposed through the enlarger.

This was fun:) A photogram is made by placing objects on photo sensitive paper. Once u start it's hard 2 stop...

1. this is a photogram. it was created with an enlarger in a darkroom, not a camera.

2. yes, the borders are off. yes, the picture is crooked (that one is my scanners fault). enjoy.

Rosebuds (actually one, split in half with a razor blade)

Polaroid ID-UV film (expired)

A traditional photogram is a photographic image made by placing objects directly onto the surface of photographic paper and then exposing it to light. This creates a unique image more like an x-ray than a typical photograph.

This image has been made with a digital photogram technique that allows me to create similar images in the digital darkroom.
