Summer 2001: I developed a crush on a Slovakian girl in New York City. She looked like a young Sophia Loren and also just happened to be a very good basketball player. She said we should play a game. So we did, which I lost, and yada, yada, yada, I never saw her again. Today, I put that behind me and once again stepped on to the court.
Having been on summer holiday since Christmas my office still bears some faded festive remnants that I didn't quite get round to taking down before I left. Start my first day back at work sorting some of it out. The spray on snow is the worst though - it has flaked off in the sun and drifted to my desk coating it in a layer of red crumbs.

These guys had managed to blockade me into my house before realising anyone had a front door on that side of the terrace!
Today we went to the Abbey of Chimay, and we bought these two bottles of 1,5L of Chimay "Bleue" (to keep in the cellar for one year or two for more maturation), and a piece of Chimay cheese.
Back to work tomorrow after the Christmas break. Alarm all ready and set for ridiculous o'clock.
3rd January.

I don’t know how to describe 2010 except that it has literally been life changing for me. My whole world changed! Uni is amazing, my friends and family are all awesome, and Jamie is growing into an amazing small person. I have plans for the next 12 months which will just be one step above amazing.
Back in February I never thought I would feel like this, even back in July when I went through some really tough times with court and the verdict and some other mental things that have happened all around me, I was wishing the year away at many points but now I am so glad it all happened, "everything happens for a reason" maybe that’s right but I know I am just going to look for the good more now because even when you think everything is falling apart, there is a golden sky at the end of the storm! I believe I am in the happiest place I have ever been in.
8/17/13. Went for a good hike this afternoon: seven miles, two geocaches. (It's an area in local BLM lands that doesn't actually allow caches; I'm not even sure why these two are there, but apparently Carmel Valley Boy Scout Troop 127 got special dispensation--perhaps for a merit badge?) Stopped by the market for some chicken breasts, broccoli, and corn (ah, summer). And then: chillax time, before preparing our simple meal. David is reading Theft by BK Loren--a very good book. Milo, meanwhile, is wondering when we'll get him a NEW platypus. He's got about four or five raggedy ones scattered about. But I do know of a secret cache of squeaky platypus eggs. I should start lobbing those his way....
Have lunch at the cafe where my brother works for Kitty's birthday. Sit outside and have ricotta hot cakes with passionfruit and lemon curd. Delicious.

Rob takes a break from his squash tournament and we get lunch - I opt for the quesadilla.

Hurray! My last day of work before taking the day off to pick Mum up from the airport (she's been in the UK for four weeks and I have missed her sooooo much).

Every so often you just have to have them. It is impossible to resist their flavour, and their price!
Needless to say I overdid it. I still have a packet left to eat.
