I've watched several makeover design shows where the first thing they do is rip out the ceiling fan. Well, that to me seems incredibly irresponsible. Ceiling fans apparently use less energy than standing oscillating fans and they circulate air better. They obviously use less energy than air conditioning and can keep you quite cool, especially on a mild night. We love ours.

Just liked the colours in this shot, despite the lack of sunshine today.

I didn't edit this photo at all - It's straight from the old iPhone 3GS camera. :)

It's official! I've gone sporty! Buy myself some running shoes today and some running socks. I can't even remember the last time I had sports shoes - it was probably when I was 12 and playing netball. Bounce my way around the house and then out the door for a run.

Here you go, Adina. I got one of those disgustingly fatty sandwiches from a lunch truck at Drexel. This one is called the Big Fat Jimmy and it has chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, and french fries along with a marinara sauce. It basically tastes like a chicken parmesan sandwich, just with extra breading and extra breading and extra fried!! I couldn't eat the whole thing, it was huge!

Mouse carvings by the Mousemen of Kilburn! The green and white stones are from Columba Bay on Iona and the black and white striped stone from the beach at Tintagel Castle.

Our latest addition. My cousin Mary brought this from Peru.

Azli's D2H finally arrived today, purchased second hand off the web. I still can't get over it's shutter speed. It's insanely fast.

And big. My D50 looks pretty puny next to this monster.

Pippin and I went to the newish organic cafe on Friar's Entry for dinner because we were both helping out that some director-of-music auditions at Univ in the evening. Anyway, this is some of the cafe's window display from the inside.. I was intrigued by the orange-gree stripy-topped squash, though I guess it's just a winter squash with slightly less regular orange colouration. As for the food, we both had salads (feta-less greek salad for me, felafel salad for Pippin), and they were both delicious and very nicely presented as well :-)

Invite our Dad's up for a Father's Day lunch - it's a gorgeous spring day so we eat on the deck.

I have become slightly obsessed with This American Life in the last couple of weeks.

I set up the crib for Augie and rearranged Wyatt's room to make it fit in there.

The baby's diaper needs to be changed.

Contemplating whether to take the plunge.

DILLINGER FOUR - "Contemplate This On The Tree Of Woe."

These obvious manipulations

Predicated on the basis of morals

The unseen eyes, so careless in their calculations

Forever washing the blood from their hands

With an appetite insatiable

Forced down your throat, demand your full attention

Forging their way, no sorrow, no sense of shame

Eyes to the floor

Didn't we see this coming?

Five bitter years, this lie is indefensible

Countless bitter tears, and more shed every day

But there's a change coming on

We gotta right these fucking wrongs

They can cover their ears

But we won't stop screaming!

The mighty fall, this curtain's coming down

Sputtering excuses for the mess they brought us all

Keep them inside, maybe we can block the exits

How do they live with this blood on their hands

With an appetite insatiable

Forced down your throat, demand your full attention

Forging their way, no sorrow, no sense of shame

Eyes to the floor

Didn't we see this coming?

Five bitter years, this lie is indefensible

Countless bitter tears, and more shed every day

But there's a change coming on

We gotta right these fucking wrongs

They can cover their ears

But we won't stop screaming!

Did we turn and look the other way?

While our fates were sealed and plans were made

Did we choose to stop this run-a-way train

And it just kept on rolling

Deception is what brought us here

Now truth will end the fear

This cross road lies before us now

And the world watches our every move

While we choose which way to go

We still have so much left to lose.

Sunday morning in the park!

Oscar escaped, and had an argument with the wire joining the phone socket to the router, which he clearly won. There followed an internet outage till Pippin stripped the ends using a craft knife, twisted them together, and bundled the join up in electrical tape.. it's been fine since then :-) There are also meaures to stop the degus getting anywhere near those wires next time they manage to get loose in the living room!
