It's a beautiful day. We have brunch on the deck and read the Sunday paper.
Sunday, 20 March 2011.
This weekend I:
* Support my squash team in our Friday night competition (I can't play because of my Labyrinthitis)
* Watch lots of downloaded episodes of The Amazing Race with Rob
* Go on a last minute and super secret mission wedding mission with my Mum
* Whizz around on a scooter with some children at the badminton court while watching Rob play
* Continue using our bounty of summer tomatoes - make a green bean and cherry tomato salad from Smitten Kitchen and a roasted tomato and ricotta penne dish
* Eat far too many caramels
* Soak up the sun on the deck while eating raspberry blueberry and lemon french toast strata (with lashings of maple syrup)
* Finally feel well enough to hit the squash court again on Sunday
* Play iPhone hangman games with my bosses children and receive a pretty stone from one of them
* Do some much needed gardening (and Rob mows the lawns)
Cupcakes to share with Mum and Geoff.

Complaining about paying taxes is a time-honored tradition, after all. I got the lovely contractor double-whammy: I had to pay taxes for last year AND for the first quarter of this year. Fun times.
Decide to kick back into running properly tonight and am so pleased to bust out an easy 8km. All my fitness is not lost!

It's a long weekend as we celebrate Queen's Birthday. Rob's Mum arranges for us to visit an elderly lady for a pre-garage sale viewing. We come away with a few bits and bobs (including two old L&P bottles) but the real treasure is a very cool set of horns.
Monday, 6 June 2011.
This long weekend I:
* Welcome Rob's Mum for a visit
* Feel a little sick
* Burn up the dance floor at my Mum's wedding party
* Catch up with family and old family friends
* Get pizza from our favourite place
* Start watching "Morning Glory" but we are too tired to make it to the end
* Visit the art gallery - my favourites are the old photographs and the collection of tree images
* Make kumara burgers with Rob
* Help Rob's Mum look for a new sound system
* Run into an old friend at the supermarket - she has moved back to town and has a job interview at my work on Tuesday
* Have Rob's grandmother over for afternoon tea
* Play Wii baseball with Rob and his Mum (not well though)
* Hit up the Briscoes Queen's Birthday sale (buy some new knives and a cake pan amongst other things)
* Visit a very old lady and hunt through some very old things - come away with a few good finds
* Watch the final of "Sherlock"
The piano arrived at Imladris! Louise, Andrew and Becky came over to help assemble and admire it :-)

Today I did my first ever "proper" photo shoot. My friend brought her boys around and I set up the dining room with a black fleece backdrop with a white sheet to the side for soft reflection. Lighting was in the form of large north facing windows. this little boy was sooo cheek and loved pulling faces - but was still quite serene as well. I love this image for the peacefullness and child like innocence.
Forgot to take pictures over my weekend. Oops! What I did: walked on the beach twice, went spontaneous camping, swam in a lake twice, got coffee and Umpqua oatmeal, pillaged a natural foods / pet supply store (literally perfect combo), long drive, podcasts, cleaned out my room / living space, and made sugar free brownies.
In Brooklyn, even the vehicles have 'staches.
YOUNG MOUNTAIN - "Hipster"
If being a hipster was part of my plan
I'd walk around with a coffee in my hand
But it's not, so I won't
That's okay
And if wearing glasses was part of a trend
I'd wear 'em all the time and so would my friends
But it's not, so I won't
That's okay
And what ever happened to you?
And all the things we used to do?
Well you hide behind your glasses and your pack of Kools
Quite frankly, you're a fool
If smoking cigs made me look sheik
I'd get cancer by the end of the week
But it's not, so I won't
That's okay
And if listening to Ben Folds made me cool
I'd wanna listen to him just like you
But he's not, he's okay
Not that great
And what ever happened to me
And all the things I used to be
I hide behind a scarf and a graphic tee
Quite frankly I am weak
And if being hardcore was part of my plan
I'd draw some X's on the back of my hand
But it's not, so I won't
That's okay
And if going to shows was my first priority
I wouldn't miss a show each and every week
But it's not, so I won't
That's okay
And what ever happened to you?
And all the things we used to do?
Well you hide behind your camo and you look like a tool
I thought that you were cool
And if the new fad was following the trends
I wouldn't want to be any of your friends
'Cause it's not that cool anyway
'Cause it's not that cool anyway
'Cause it's not that cool anyway
We decided to take an "urban day" of shopping and eating out in fancy restaurants, rather than chasing more old temples on a very long bus tour as had been the original plan. We still managed to fit in a bit of history and culture with an art gallery and a visit to Tipu's palace, where this alcove is located.
Toy Safari reminds me of Toy Stores when I was a kid. Filled to the rafters, just somewhere you want to explore. Not sterile like a big box store. Kit Lens at 18mm, HDR, F/5.6, ISO 100 #photoaday #project365 #toystore toysafaritoys.com/
This guy has built his home from the side mirror of the green truck to the entry gate that leads to our front door. His web is about face height and yes, you have guessed how I discovered him earlier this afternoon.
I must have really pissed him off because he almost immediately started tearing his web down after I set up the flashes. How was I supposed to know that 2 flashes on a spider web was unreasonable?
I had hoped to use a macro to take these pictures, but here's the short version of that story:
UPS left me an automated message this morning saying that my 100mm macro would be delivered today and that it needed a signature.
I worked from home, which is one of my favorite things to do, but as of 7:30 tonight no macro has arrived.
Day 236 -
Cocktail time! Unfortunately not a screaming orgasm or slow comfortable screw against the wall....but still enjoyable!
