If you live in Newcastle, why don't you pop into Blackwells and buy a copy? But if you don't live in Newcastle, you can always head here - webstore.ncl.ac.uk/browse/extra_info.asp?compid=1&cat...
:-D
we all met up with Raine this morning for our own personal walking tour. first we visited the famous Infant Jesus of Prague, which is housed inside a church. we weren't the only ones there to see him, i guess many people make religious pilgrammages to Prague just to pray to this infant doll. afterward, we made a pit stop at Starbucks for some warm holiday drinks before heading back out into the cold. we walked across the Charles Bridge again and this time it was very crowded and full of artisan stands. after some photos on the bridge, we walked down to the John Lennon wall for a photoshoot and to each write our own musings on the wall in gold sharpie. Brit, Mahala and i met up with our tour guide Filip again for a tour of the Prague Castle. it's interesting because the towers you see from the city actually belong to the enormous cathedral up there and not the castle itself but is still considered a part of the whole. again, we listened to so many intriguing histories of Prague while freezing from windchill on the hilltop. after our tour, we met back up with Raine and grabbed dinner at the corner restaurant, Meduzzy's. i ordered gulas, a typical Czech meal. after relaxing for only just a little bit, we decided to go check out the five-story club called Karlovy Lazne, the largest club in Europe. it was a very fun night to finish off the weekend in Prague.
I almost forgot my photo today!!! I had a busy day and was sooo exhausted on top of it and kept falling asleep!!! This is an icecream sandwich that I enjoyed immediately after I took it's "portrait" It was very yummy and refreshing on such an warm evening here in the summer heat :)
Flying a Parrot AR Drone in the Campaign Monitor offices. See a short video of Ben's shaky flying skills here. :)
Some custom made joinery specifically installed at Campaign Monitor for the storage of table tennis balls. We take our pong seriously.
went to the Australian embassy, had a productive day at work, salmon and potatoe gratin for lunch (selfmade with the noisy boys), went to the gym and watched a movie
8/2/13. Spent today driving down to the southern parts of Monterey County, then inland on Nacimiento-Ferguson Road, a steep and winding line of tarmac. At the top (after visiting the fire station just over the ridge), we turned left, and drove to the end of the dirt road. Talked with several people along the way, including 3/4 of a family from Egypt--two of the three-quarters were hooking rugs while sitting in the shade (but not avoiding the flies... damn flies). The only fireplace maintenance we did along the way was near the bottom, a rogue camp. Otherwise, it was just driving, chatting with folks, showing directions. We ended the day on Plaskett Ridge, off the South Coast Ridge Road. This was our view at sunset. (Well, one aspect of our view.)
This is Wyatt working at the desk we set up in his office. He very carefully chose what he wanted on his desk and decided that a poster of the man-eating lions of Tsavo was the proper decoration. He's been working at his desk several times per day since we set this up.
Lacey is the cat that Kahli received for her last (10th) birthday. So far she hasn't had any proper photo's taken with her so whilst Lacey was in the mood to be cuddled we grabbed the camera and snapped away.... We were waiting for an arborist all day to come to look at the big tree in the front yard in the meantime - guess what, he didn't show!! Augh!!!
I was trying a few different processing techniques but they didn't work out the way I wanted so played with some layers instead to produce this image.
after a long twelve hours on the bus, we arrived at 9am to a cold Prague. we had just enough time to settle into our rooms and eat some breakfast before we met up with our guide from New Europe for a walking tour. Filip was our very Czech guide who shared many interesting historical tales about the city and the Czech people. we first took the tram and metro into the historical center, the Old Town Square, where we saw the cathedral and the astronomical clock (makes the top ten disappointments for tourists, says Filip). then we walked along the streets and entered the Jewish Quarter of Prague. our tour ended after three hours and Brit and i decided we wanted to eat some Czech food for lunch. we stopped in at a restaurant, ordered two sausage plates and even a Pilsner to share (had to have one while in its home country). by the end of today, i felt pretty knowledgeable with the metro system of Prague. and also very jealous of the convenience of it, wondering why Florence doesn't have a tram that runs through the city. we were freezing cold after spending the entire day outdoors so we returned to the hostel to warm up for a bit, where we met Mahala in the evening. the three of us got ourselves ready and then ventured back to the city center to meet a friend of Brit's who is currently studying in Prague. we were out for the night with Raine, who took us to a couple of bars and we wandered around to Wenceslas Square to have some sausage and cheesy bread (some late hours Czech snacks). we walked over the Charles Bridge at 2am. it was completely deserted and very eerie. it felt like a scene out of Beauty and the Beast!
