Amsterdam cyclists generally ignore all traffic signs (and traffic), but for a phone call...

“You hang up. No, you hang up. Wish you were here now. Would love a kiss. Want to be in your arms. Night sweetie.”

"What happened to the girl ? Is she still in the dark place?"

A recent scrapyard save of mine after a quick phonecall from a mate, D782 DTR is a 1986 Peugeot 205GRD diesel in fetching Antelope Beige. This is it's good side but it has cleaned up fairly well.

It's now my second diesel Peugeot on fleet, my aging 740GLE having been replaced on daily duties by a 19-year old 406 2.1 LXDT estate a few weeks ago.

The phone call....

Work can kill the fun sometimes. Your day off can become a headache with a single phonecall...

The Queen Elizabeth II Great Court, commonly referred to simply as the Great Court, is the covered central quadrangle of the British Museum in London. It was redeveloped during the late 1990s to a design by Foster and Partners, from a 1970s design by Colin St John Wilson. The court was opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 2000.

The court has a tessellated glass roof designed by Buro Happold and executed by Waagner-Biro, covering the entire court and surrounds the original circular British Museum Reading Room in the centre, now a museum. It is the largest covered square in Europe. The glass and steel roof is made up of 4,878 unique steel members connected at 1,566 unique nodes and 1,656 pairs of glass windowpanes making up 6,100m2 of glazing; each of a unique shape because of the undulating nature of the roof.

A man on a brightly-colored billboard seemingly offers moral support to a phone caller standing directly in front of him.

"You've got this! Great phone call, Ishida-san! Don't take 'no' for an answer!"

Or something like that . . .

...Thats in my bag!

Im sooo behind on the trend, but I finally had time to do one of these. Mine is not as girly as most of these i've seen =S I might call this the winter edition, because my bag looks so much different in the summer haha.

Not in the photo but usually in my bag too: my phone (I got a phonecall while taking this, yes you Edward!), my mascara and my notebook.

A business meeting interupted by a phone call…

Visited a long time friend this weekend up in Birch Bay for her graduation party. We've been friends since we were 4yrs old & although she moved about four years later we have always kept in touch through letters, phonecalls, & visits.

Anyways, took this photo along the beach at the state park; and no, I haven't a clue who the family is in the photo but they seemed to be having a lovely time.

I apologize for the recent lack of photography; I just haven't felt 'up to snuff' in my skills lately so I haven't felt too motivated to post anything. It's just as if I've slipped into a little lull. But I leave for Yellowstone in a couple weeks so look forward to some good photography!

Boreal Owl (Aegolius funereus). 17.4.2009, Tornio.

Prey

Well...I continue on the carrion line....

Got a phonecall today from Seppo that there has dropped an owlet from the sky to one walking road. Place was just 5 kilometers away so I immediately turned to there. While I was driving there got also a text message from Pirkka (who lives 200 kilometers from here:)) that there is some owl on the road in Tornio. Send immediately sms to Pirkka that I have one kilometer left there....

When I came to place Seppo was already there talking to the lady who had found the owl.

Owl was lying on the ground and couldn`t get to flight. To my eye looked that something like an owlet had stucked to it`s feet. I thought it was owls own nestling that for some reason had stucked to the feet....While I tried to get owl caught from the ground it flew away to a spruce nearby. On the ground was lying a dead Pygmy Owl (Claucidium passerinum). Boreal Owl had catched it and because Boreals weight about 120 g and Pygmy Owls 50 g it couldn`t obviously fly with it and both had dropped to the road - we presumed.

Boreal Owl was still sitting on the spruce where it did fly. I went closer slowly and catched it with my bare hands from the twig. Looked to my eye that there was no problem with it. Maybe it was a little bit exhausted but othervise it looked well.

We tried to set Boreal Owl on top of the Pygmy Owl so that it could continue with it`s plunder but it couldn`t do that. Now it was in big trouble itself - well to it`s brains it was my plunder!

It flew again to one tree. I threw the Pygmy Owl under the tree and after 30 seconds Boreal Owl dropped above smaller one and stayed there while we took some pics....

After one hour I went back and Pygmy Owls was lying headless on the ground. Couldn`t find Boreal Owl anywhere, but I`m quite sure that it sat on some spruces twig well hidden as they use to do in daylight and waited till it could eat the rest of it`s plunder...

(Story`s as short as I ever could write.)

Epilogue: It`s quite rare to see Boreal Owl in the daylight. It`s really rare to find owl as a prey to another owl. And I think the lady who first called for help is still thinking that is it really so easy and fast to get help with from sky-dropped-owls so than this time...

"Carol?"

*long pause*

This is a second tribute for the best film ever made - "Carol". Funny thing is, originally I was going to make this scene only, but BrickLink went down for a few days, which prevented me from searching on its database for the most suitable minifigure parts immediately. When the site was running again, I had an idea that I can take a picture of the famous scene in the department store as the Christmas picture, which became my first tribute for the film, and I'm extremely happy that I did it, it looks so great, please, check it out! :D

I chose this scene, because it's the second best scene in the film (after the ending, of course! the third best is letter, it's also important, but it's almost impossible to capture as a single recognizable shot, I think). Just a one line (three, actually, but the last is repeat of the second) from only one character, but oh my goodness, the acting, the acting! How comes the film never got an Oscar, just the nominations?! The acting is impossible to show with the bricks, but I'm doing my best. :)

I was considering using the full quote as the title, but I would rather let it be mystery. Spoilers! ;)

Instead of taking two pictures, I decided to split the space to include both places. Well, phone calls travels a distance, why pictures can't? xD I already used this trick for Doctor Who scene, but I think here I did it better. Especially considering the lights were tricky - I didn't get the result I wanted, because in my lighting kit for a particular set I don't have the color I needed here, so I had to fix it in Photoshop, and it is still not what I wanted, but I tried. I hope somewhere in the next year I will get the lighting kit, but it's pricey.

Also during minifigure casting I noticed once again how few there are sad minifigure faces in flesh colors - actually only three for white female minifigures! And neither one suits the character because of different face features. So I had to use another pattern, but once again I had to change the colors of the eyebrows, because this is a whole different problem I encounter while selecting heads - I need a particular emotion, but the eyebrows in the wrong color. It's harder when I need both the eyebrows and lips in certain color. This is the reason why I need LEGO to make a set with Taylor Swift - there's just no head with light eyebrows and red lips (ComicCon exclusive and Disney Alice doesn't count). Not a single one! I can't build my own Taylor if I'm not doing a render like this one! This is sad. We need more complicated emotions! And more faces with eyebrows other than black and brown!

As for the phones, I drew the pattern with the permanent marker. I used the real pattern of rotary dial from 1980s LEGO set as an example, so it's just like the real part, except this is custom. xD

They are getting ready to open their street side noodle shop and making a phone call. Taipei, Taiwan

Inspired by a phonecall with my sister last night...I think we should live closer together....see her inspitration here: www.flickr.com/photos/hug-a-horse/4290731482/

I took the photo trying to achieve a watercolor effect, then added a watercolour paper overlay. hope you enjoy! I am home for a "snow day" but it hasn't snowed much yet so I am off to get a new driver's license to replace the one I lost a month ago...first time I had a day to get it...

I had set up shop on a downtown street corner, taking shots of interesting people as they passed me by. This woman stopped right in front of me and stood there, just as you see her in the photo, apparently on hold, waiting for someone to answer her call.

Just a few feet in front of me, she appeared not to see me at all, which is pretty amazing given my size and the monster of a wheelchair I need to get around. Nevertheless, it is not the first time I've noticed this.

Some people seem to pre-program their mind to see some things, and other things not at all, and they do this without being aware that they're doing it...

So, there she was, for several minutes, and I took full advantage of the situation. If I had know she was going to stay put, I would have changed to a portrait lens...

Bruce comes walking out of the room with Joker in handcuffs. On the floor is Dick laying covered in mud, with Barbara and Tim on his sides.

BM: "I see you took down clayface."

Rbn: "We see you took down Joker."

BG: "Did he show up?"

BM: "Yes he did."

Jkr: "Who did?"

BM: "Shut up. You weren't really concious."

NW: "Really?"

Jkr: "So I missed all the fun? Damn it..."

BM: "Again, shut up. However, yeah, I did."

NW: "Did you do what I asked?"

BM: "Yeah, I put a tracker on him. He's moving to Star City. You should be able to be faster then him."

NW: "Thanks Batman. Let's go Batgirl. We have a few phonecalls to make while we go. I owe someone a favor."

BM: "Robin and I will take this guy to Arkham."

Jkr: "Really? You know I'll break out again, don't you Batsy?"

BM: "I know, and I'll be ready and put you right back in, the second you dare to escape."

Jkr: "Ohw, I'll be looking forward to it Batsy. I will."

A quick candid shot captured at the end of what I'm sure was a very busy day in Les Baux de Provence.
