Princess Street - Edinburgh

Our visit to New York was extended due to volcanic ashes over Europe, - so we had the chance to see some of the 31 lifesize figures by the British artist Antony Gormley. The title of the art project is "Event Horizon".

During the first week of the project police had several phonecalls from people being nervous about what they saw, - and the mostly used reply was "he's not gonna jump".

As it is absolutely miserable,, my mother forced me to go to the library via phonecall and then claimed it was so I could fit in with the we're here theme of umbrellas for umbrella day.... thanks?

Sweet Serenade | Jeffery Smith

~Love’s call

In a world of droplets dancing down,

A symphony of rain, a soothing sound.

Upon my umbrella, nature's call,

A gentle rhythm, a liquid thrall.

Beneath the silver curtain's fall,

I dial your number, heart enthrall.

Each raindrop on my umbrella

echoes our connection,

A phone call, a sweet reflection.

Whispers of drops, a sweet serenade,

Conversations bloom in the rain's cascade.

As raindrops tap, our voices entwine,

A melody of love, so tender, so fine.

A dance of souls, a love that will entwine.

Through the twists of fate, our paths combine,

Our hearts interlace, a bond forever divine.

but who is calling?

C-124 Globemaster on display at the Pima Air and Space Museum. My last shot of the evening, and I got the "Waitin' on you, Princess!" phonecall from everyone else getting ready to leave the museum while I was shooting it. Came out underexposed, and lightening it up in Lightroom introduced a butt-ton of noise. Still like the way it came out, but wish it wasn't so noisy.

So here is my first full piece of digital art. I put this together using stock from sxc.hu and a photo I took of my cat tonight. I've experimented with editing alot but this is the first make-believe piece I've done where I've constructed the scenery etc. I taught myself how to make shadows too!

When I took up 365 days, the aim for me was to make sure I practice photography and photo-editing every day. I am completely sick of taking photos of myself, so I might modify my 365 project - i want to start making images using other people so badly, but I never have enough time because I spend it all doing 365s. Because of this I think I'm gonna make it so that instead of taking a self-portrait a day, I make a picture a day. Most of them will continue to be selfs because I won't be able to capture models every day, but it'll be fun seeing what I can come up with and allow a whole lot more variety!!!

I have a really big important phonecall to take tonight... i am nervous!! eep!!

I've had a few emails from people telling me my photos here on flickr are being used on other sites without my permission, and instead of blabbering on about it here, you can read up on it on mine and aaron's blog :)

Brodie Castle is midway between Nairn and Forres or Forres and Nairn whichever way you are travelling. The castle has now been in the care of The National Trust for Scotland since 1982. The castle is very neat and well maintained and has the feeling of fine country mansion, it is a very homely place. The tour takes about 40 minutes and is very interesting, the guide said he had been doing tours for a year now and the castle was full of interesting history, the castle has its surprises.

I hope you have had a good week I had a very nice time with the family I will try and catch up later.

Well I have a real good news story for I applied to come and work/volunteer at this castle for the next six months (April – October), to my delight I got a phonecall to come and see what is involved. It was an easy decision so I will be at Brodie Castle over the summer months which I am really looking forward to. Most of you know that I travel a lot between Aberdeen and Inverness to see my mother and that will continue and it is good I can keep my base here in Aberdeen. So next time you are in the area pop into Brodie Castle I might just be on the welcome desk.

This telephone box does nothing really and just stands near to the Cathedral. It does feature in many pictures around Birmingham and the light from the street lamp makes it stand out from the dark morning.

She watched me as I pulled on my stockings and hung them on the garter belt, then I put on my pumps and she put a coat over my shoulders, telling me that would be enough.

She then led me to her black car and made me sit in the back in the leather seats, then drove off and drove through town.

She stopped in a street in front of the Pickwick club, right next to a phone booth and asked me to get out. She then told me to stay here under the lamppost and wait for her phone call. Then she parked in front of the club before entering without a single glance at me, certain that I would obey her.

Hi everyone sorry for not commenting on your pictures and just faving just had a phonecall from the gp who has been told by the neurologist that I need to get to hospital as soon as possible will catch up when I can 4/6/2013

For those who are surprised...I was not any less so when I methodically went through the Frisco slides from '72 and '73. As I said before, the Frisco still ran a couple of hot connections from the southeast - Birmingham and Memphis - to the West Coast via connection to the Santa Fe at Floydada, Texas. They had been routed for many years via Oklahoma City, the subsidiary Quanah Acme & Pacific, and to Floydada. The Santa Fe's own route from there to what we now know as the "Transcon" was a little convoluted too, through Plainview and Lubbock to Texico on the New Mexico/Texas border, and finally on the Chicago-California mainline. Plans were already afoot at this time to rebuild the Frisco route from Tulsa's Cherokee Yard straight west to Enid and on to a connection with that almighty future Transcon at Avard, Oklahoma. But it hadn't happened yet. My friend who was midnight operator at Oklahoma City still held his job until these trains were re-routed as I recall; soon he'd change from Third to Second Trick (afternoons) and from OKC to Tulsa. But MEANWHILE, as Stephen Colbert would say, somebody was hurting for power, and I'd venture a guess it was Frisco. I'd love to have heard the phonecalls. Probably a five unit set of F-units (just your average power set in the Texas panhandle on the Santa Fe) were sent east all the way to either Tulsa or Springfield on the hot counterpart CTB (California-Texas-Birmingham) to be bounced back on QLA or QSF. I may have been alerted by my buddy in OKC or another in Claremore, about 25 miles east of Tulsa, or maybe I just decided to skip the studies and have a look at Cherokee Yard. The Wagonmaster's "babies" appear to be getting ready to hook onto the westbound freight while one of Frisco's FM switchers - themselves endangered by now as new SW1500's were showing up - has a hold of the Santa Fe caboose to go to the other end. I'm on the service road that leads to the yard tower to my left at the south (timetable west) end of the yard, and I think the "Crest Tower" at the top of the hump was between me and the yard office.

From left to right: "You tell 'em, girl!", "What did she say?!", "That's tellin' 'em!", "Hmpfh! The youth of today!"
