just a small preview of my personal project currently in design process, but the idea of whole site is done
Madison Moore is three years old and wants to grow up to be a “Baby Doctor” [pediatrician/obstetrician]. Her father Levi has been playing rugby for years and Madison started as soon as she was able with Regina Mini Rugby making an age exception (the normal starting age is 3 or 4). Madison attends every Mini Rugby practice and hardly misses one of her father’s games in the summer. She will be seen trying to keep up with the grownups at practice, usually wearing a rugby workout outfit or a fluffy dress (her favorite is a fluffy blue one). Levi also coaches high school and let’s Madison play on the sidelines for games/practices as needed. There’s barely a summer day when she won’t be at the field laughing and playing. Development of my Personal project centered around mummification into a cohesive and feminine collection.
Peni Lutudromu is a youth care worker at the Ranch Ehrlo Society. He has been playing rugby for years and on different continents. He coaches the Regina Grads Rugby Team and volunteers with Regina Mini Rugby. He is heavily involved in the Saskatchewan Rugby community and hardly a player doesn’t know his name. His three children play in the Regina Mini Rugby program and his wife loves to watch. Photo by Heidi Atter.
This is a friend of mine who over the summer holidays of 2010, skated most days with his friends. I often went a long with my camera and took some shots of them whilst in action. I liked this one as he was the only one who attempted this ramp called the ‘spine’. I took the shot just as he reached the highest point and it’s an almost heart stopping moment for the skater. He’s about to descend and you can never tell how the landing is going to go. I like that it is symmetrical, it almost shows where he has come from and where he is going.
I read surf magazines such as Surf Europe and Wavelength and aspire to take photo’s like Remi Whiting, Tim Nunn and especially Ben Selway. Their images are full of energy and they capture pictures at the perfect moment and I think it is incredible how they achieve photographs that I actually am in awe at. I surf myself but skating is the closest I’m going to get to that in Lincoln, so I wanted to try some action/ sport photo’s to hopefully expand my ability and I definitely think it is a good start.
This was from a shoot I did with my boyfriends mother. I wanted her model for me because they have similar high cheekbones and strong jaw line but she felt more uncomfortable in front of the camera. To help her relax I played some of her favourite music, let her dog into the shoot room and encouraged her posing so it wouldn't be so awkward.
When looking through my portfolio I noticed there was a high concentration of young women so I needed more age diversity. Jane is 63 years old and looking great. I put her in a red top to contrast against the olive green walls behind her. Her silver wig attracts the eye because its the lightest part of the image.
The image has an almost Cindy Sherman quality to it with the model gazing off camera in a household setting.
