This was from a shoot I did with my boyfriends mother. I wanted her model for me because they have similar high cheekbones and strong jaw line but she felt more uncomfortable in front of the camera. To help her relax I played some of her favourite music, let her dog into the shoot room and encouraged her posing so it wouldn't be so awkward.
When looking through my portfolio I noticed there was a high concentration of young women so I needed more age diversity. Jane is 63 years old and looking great. I put her in a red top to contrast against the olive green walls behind her. Her silver wig attracts the eye because its the lightest part of the image.
The image has an almost Cindy Sherman quality to it with the model gazing off camera in a household setting.
Spector front CD Cover made in college using Photoshop. Technique was duplicating the layer and using colour overlay on the layers behind the original.
Album name is not real.

I went to four different playgrounds and chose three that I actually liked and I felt like the raindrops and the dirt really sold it to me. and the angle of each .

“When I started elementary school, I was new to Canada then and at the time I thought all people in Canada had blond hair and blue eyes. That’s how I had envisioned everybody. So I attended Thomas Collegiate, which is in the north east side of the city, and there were a lot of Indigenous people there and they all were non-blond and non-blue eyed. So my first instinct was that they are Afghan so I started speaking with them in Farsi because in my mind if they were blond and blue eyed that meant they were Canadian but anyone outside of that characteristic meant that they were from Afghanistan. And of course they were giving me weird looks because they had no idea what I was talking about and little did I know that, in fact, they really did not know what I was saying. I realized that much much later.” Aqila Azizi came from Afghanistan to Canada in 2000. She is an engineer working in the construction field and she calls Canada her new home. Photo by Madina Azizi.
“Since I came to Canada, I have never seen a new immigrant in higher positions. Little by little, some are making it as professors and administrative staff. Where you can see many new immigrants at the university is in the service industry (janitors, cooks, fast food). I am not ashamed to say that is how I started. Before teaching, I was a waiter and then a janitor. I see myself in those who are working in fast food restaurants, cleaning floors, as administrative assistants because many of them are also university students. Like me, they are not giving up.” Leonzo Barreno is from Guatemala and has been living in Canada for decades. He is a sessional instructor at the U of R, school of journalism and on the verge of finishing his PHD. Photo by Madina Azizi.
This was the second final outcome for my personal project. I created advertisements for Moschino using photoshop.
Ainslee Howlett is eight-years-old and plans to be a clothing designer. At eight, she’s already designing as many things as possible and her interest is only growing. She’s been playing rugby for years and is considered a “mini” in Regina Mini Rugby. Photo by Heidi Atter.

Some closer to resolved mock-ups for the backs of the development cards and resource cards respectively, for Gangstas of Catan.
Time to throw some D's on this game.

2010|365: A Design Project
In an effort to keep from getting creatively stagnant as I go through the course of a 9-5 design job, as well as staving off general laziness, I've undertaken this personal project.
Every day, rain, shine or somewhere inbetween, I will be making something cool. The results may be photos, design pieces, experimental type, videos, or anything else I feel is worth showing. The only caveat will be that each piece will have to be made that day, even though it might not get posted on the same day.
The end result of the project will be a book (possibly 365 pages long, maybe shorter to reduce costs), which I will make available to anyone who wants to pay for one.
You can track the project at the 2010|365 website or check out everything else I get up here.
First Video experimenting with sounds and text inspired from films. I think it was successful in being my first video project and mixing sound, image and text. If I were to do it again I would like it to be a moving background video, linking it with image and text as well.

I had taken a couple of pictures of this wheel. I like the shadows on the spokes. I enhanced the green to have it work better with the rust/red.
