Starting a new personal project.

Alot of people come up to me and ask me for advice on equipment.

I tell everyone that high end equipment and lights aren't going to make a photo interesting.

Yet everyone still comments that if they had equipment like mine, their photos would be awesome too.

Time to go back to my roots.

No D300. No Strobes. No special lenses. No photoshop.

Back to consumer SLR and kit lenses. Back to free editing software.

Time to back up my words that the equipment does not define the photographer.

I wish I made this decision before I took and processed this photo.

But this will be the start.

Handheld foamcore board held at my stomach for bounce and catchlight

This scan is taken from a book I put together a couple of years ago. It was a personal project exploring collage and the effect of using color foreground elements with black and white backgrounds. Although the collages are full of Japanese clichés, I thought it would be a shame for them to remain unseen.

The black and white backgrounds were hand printed in a darkroom, whilst the color elements were taken on a digital camera. After tearing out the elements by hand, the collages were assembled to create original scenes.

10th grader Zaki stripped a first person shooter video game to create a virtual tour of the new library. He did this using architectural drawings before building began. IB personal project.

Italy: Day Six ~ Capri

As we walked on this tiny road to get to Giorgio's, I saw this house through a gate. The light was so pretty and the garden so inviting, that I snuck a picture. Every home had blooming flowers and bushes, lush greenery, and gorgeous views.

The entire trip can be seen in order in my Italy album.

Cinematic Portraits is a personal project where I take a still image to tell a cinematic story. The interpretation of the story is up to the viewer.

Personal project about dogs being fashion victims. Can this society that pushes us to consume always more spoil the relationship we have with our dog? Can the we take our dog as an accessory? Can we choose to "wear" our chic and conservative Cavalier King Charles instead of cufflinks and a tie?

My personal project "Curiosity" - looks like you don't need to fly to Mars to find some interesting stones.

A little shot of my current MacVIM composition, working on a little personal project coded in RoR, a hint of the name on the shot :P
