Trucks all over India have variations of this painted on teh side - I wish I had taken more shots of them - it would make a great photo set! Presumably, to travel the roads off all of India, you have to have an "All India Permit" & it is helpful and ornamental to post it on your truck!
If time permits, then any trip to the Basque Country should include a visit to Gaztelugatxe. It's a 'must-see' destination. Gaztelugatxe - which means 'Castle Rock' in the Basque language (“gaztelu” = castle + “aitz” = rock) - is an island located just off the shore along the Bay of Biscay, 35 km east of the provincial capital, Bilbao. The island is cone-shaped and is connected to the mainland by a man-made bridge. On top of the island stands a hermitage (named Gaztelugatxeko Doniene in Basque; San Juan de Gaztelugatxe in Spanish), dedicated to John the Baptist dating from the 10th century, although discoveries indicate that the date might even be the 9th century.
The hermitage/church is by no means original; having been burnt down and rebuilt several times over the centuries. In the 12th century, it became a convent. However, two centuries later, the friars abandoned it taking with them everything of value.
The main starting point for the walk to Gaztelugaxe is a large restaurant/parking/picnic area on top of the cliffs overlooking the island. There are two paths down to the shoreline, which both provide spectacular views. Once at the man-made bridge, the route transitions into a narrow path made up of 241 steps zigzagging their way back and forth up to the hermitage at the summit. According to legend, after completing the climb, visitors should ring the bell, hanging on the outside of the building, three times and make a wish. The walk back up the hill beckons but - no matter - the round-trip will have been quite exhilarating!

Permit Fly
Permit are a much sought after prize, on the tropical flats. and are known to be notoriously difficult to catch, on any pattern, and Mauro Genevri is a hardcore Permit fly fisherman, who worked tirelessly for a number of years in his quest to develop a fly, that would consistently catch Permit.
After many disappointments, and much experimentation experimental failures he finally came up with a novel, albeit deadly type fly, incorporating one or two applications, rarely if ever seen on other patterns.
The fly had its birth in 2009, but only really became known in early 2011, when it took the various fishing destinations of Cuba by storm, quickly becoming the absolute numero uno Permit fly throughout the Island. During 2011, it accounted for almost 75% of all Permit recorded at the destinations managed by the Avalon Company, and being previously unnamed, was thus christened The Avalon Fly.
The Avalon fly has continued to enjoy enormous success since its introduction, and while it would be foolish for anyone to state that any fly pattern designed to catch Permit, was a "No Fail Fly" there is no doubt that the Avalon Fly has helped the Cuban fishing centres increase their respective recorded catches of this species by almost 35% over the last couple of years, and is now beginning to have a real impact in other locations.
The main difference from other Permit flies, is the way the weighting is implemented. By looping 4 silver beads on a piece of mono, hanging underneath the fly, Mauro developed a pattern that swims horizontal in the water, at the same time adding a rattle effect to the fly. Unlike standard patterns, with mainly heavy eyes for weighting, which results in a jigging motion, the horizontal swimming pattern also makes Mauro's fly less prone to dive into weeds, thus out of sight.
The Avalon Permit Fly, is a shrimp imitating pattern, rather than the more commonly used crab imitations, using a different approach to imitate the shrimps claws, with short lengths of rabbit zonker, and has quickly become the MUST have pattern for any serious Permit fisher.

This is a photograph from the finish of second annual running of the Renault Mullingar Half Marathon which was held on Thursday 17th March 2016 St. Patrick's Day Lá Fhéile Pádraig in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, Ireland at 10:30. This photograph was taken in Mullingar Town Park at the 21KM mark approaching the finish. Following on from the incredible success of the inagural year of the race this year the total numbers participating rose from just under 600 in 2015 to over 900 this year. As was the case last year the nominated charity was Childline. The roots of the success of the event last year was the perfect running weather, excellent organisation and a very flat and fast route. All of these characteristics were repeated this year. Incredibly the weather was almost a carbon copy of last year - cool, clear, still fresh Spring weather presenting runners with little or no wind. Participants traveled from all over Ireland with a very large participation from runners around Mullingar and the midlands. The race has an AAI permit. The race's early start time was to facilitate the annual St. Patrick's Day parade which brings a large number of local visitors to the town on an annual basis. Parking is free in Mullingar town for the entire day.
The race began on Pearse Street/Austin Friar's Street in the town and proceeds North East out of the town to the N52 Delvin/Dundalk road towards Lough Sheever. The course then follows beautiful rural country roads out to The Downs at the M4. The only hill or rise on the course occurs here at about 7 miles when runners cross the M4 at Junction 14 Thomas Flynn and Sons. The race then joins the now local access route of the old N4 road and then joins the Royal Canal at Great Down. The remainder of the race follows the Royal Canal back westward to Mullingar town. The towpath on the Canal is perfectly flat and in excellent condition. Runners will notice how the level of the canal changes dramatically along the route - at points the canal is level with the towpath. In other places the canal is at least 3 meters lower than the canal path. However the path is perfectly flat and firm the whole way. The course then leaves the Royal Canal at the Ardmore Road/Millmount area of the town and finishes in the Mullingar Town Park on Austin Friar's Street beside the Annebrook Hotel which is the Race Headquarters. The park provides a very nice setting for the finish of the race and runners and their families can mix and congregate around the finish area and the hotel.

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. Wretched people lined up, waiting to be photographed and having those photographs pasted into the first work permit they had ever had in their lives. The great majority of those there had left school and had begun their lives of drudgery before the age of 10. Contemporary slavery, Amazon rainforest, Tuerê Farm, State: Pará, Brazil. Special Group for the Repression of Forced Labour (Groupo Especial de Repressão ao Trabalho Forçado) or GERTRAF, as it is commonly known, is made up of 4 mobile groups that work in different regions of the country, investigating accusations of work conditions close to slavery on farms, charcoal works, plantations and sugar mills. They are officials of the Ministry of Labour and they have support from the Federal Police.

The 2019 Senior Regional Reduced Fare Permit Pilot Program (RRFP) helped educate seniors from North and South Seattle how to ride transit with their RRFP cards. Participating senior centers include South Park Seniors, Lake City Seniors, Asian Counseling Referral Services (ACRS), and International Drop-in Center IDIC.
These photographs mark the first KAP session under my 2011-2012 salt pond permits. I have just recently completed my status report from last year and, more importantly, the nesting season is winding down. It is nice to be out in this landscape again.
The Eden Landing Ecological Reserve is located on the edge of San Francisco Bay just south of the East Bay approach to the San Mateo Bridge. The center of the preserve is Mt. Eden Creek, a waterway that journalist Jon Sandoval once called the “cradle of the Bay Area salt industry.” The area does hold intriguing traces of many 19th Century salt works. It is also home to a series of interesting contemporary projects as the California Department of Fish and Game manages initiatives to restore habitat, provide recreation and control flooding as part of the South Bay Salt Pond Restoration Project.
The photographs in this series were taken over the eastern end of the preserve, above Mt. Eden Creek Marsh and North Creek Marsh, both recent wetland restoration projects. These lands were quite barren a few years ago and have recently been returned to tidal flow (North Creek Marsh in 2006, Mt. Eden Creek Marsh in 2008). The landscape continues its transition with levee construction currently underway and a new set of levee breaches in the coming months. It is fun to capture the changes as they occur and the old textures before they disappear.
I am taking these documentary photographs under a Special Use Permit from the California Department of Fish & Game. Kite flying is prohibited over the Eden Landing Ecological Reserve without a Special Use Permit, as is access to this part of the Don Edwards National Wildlife Refuge.

El Parque Nacional de Goreme (Göreme Milli Parklar), conocido también como Museo al aire libre de Goreme. Este parque nacional es quizás el territorio más famoso de todos los paisajes de Capadocia. El parque fue listado por la Unesco como Patrimonio de la Humanidad en el año 1985.
Los asentamientos en el área comenzaron en los siglos III y IV, cuando los cristianos del período romano fundaron varios monasterios. Como la mayoría de las construcciones en Capadocia, no se trataba de edificios, sino de sitios excavados en la roca, en forma de cuevas artificiales. Aún existen restos de monumentos, capillas, alcobas, almacenes e iglesias, muchos de ellos decorados con frescos de los siglos XI y XII.

Cabe objetar a los gestores del Parque, que no permitan tomar fotos de las pinturas más coloristas y de iconografías más ricas. Es como si El Museo del Prado permitiese fotografiar sus obras, pero excluyendo a Velázquez, Murillo, El Bosco, Rubens o Can der Weyden, etc.

Don't think that you can get into the shredding of important papers business without having a permit from the City Of New YorK. They want to get into the act by making a few bucks by selling permits.
I would doubt that the city issues permits to dump works of art which have no monetary or sentimental value anymore. This you can do for almost nothing. All you need is one of the many Dreaded Russ Martin Dumpsters and off you go. They go by many different names, but I like The Dreaded Russ Martin Dumpster best. The talented photographer Russ Martin is trying to avoid having all of his work end up in a dumpster. He says that is where my work is most likely to end up. He may be right. This is very scary..
Back in the early fall, my wife and I were fortunate enough to spend our honeymoon at El Pescador lodge in Belize. Words can't really do the experience justice; Everything from the food to the staff to the fishing was truly exceptional. As an added bonus, I got to play with one of the new H2 rods. I'd say it was up to the task, as it helped me bag my first ever bonefish and permit on our first day en route to a saltwater grand slam! The rod was crisp, easy loading, and remarkably forgiving when my knees and timing buckled at the sight of a feeding fish. Despite the success of our first day, even the H2 couldn't save me on our second day out as I failed to convert any of 5 shots at big permit, which has left me longing for a return.
Since then I've been playing with the rod on my home water, putting it to the test against some big, angry trout. It seems to be holding up just fine.
