El equipo permite realizar estudios no invasivos, que no generan molestias a los pacientes y se realizan de manera ambulatoria, como las adquisiciones axiales con reconstrucciones multiplanares (una misma resolución en los diferentes planos) de las diversas estructuras arteriales tal como ocurre con las arterias del polígono de Willis, carótidas, aorta y extremidades, con el fin de detectar aneurismas, trombos, estenosis o malformaciones. La estrategia Cosechando Agua Guanajuato promueve prácticas sustentables que permiten reducir hasta 60% el trabajo y 25% los costos, mientras se aumenta 35% la rentabilidad en la producción de granos y leguminosas en las zonas de temporal de Guanajuato. Los ejes fundamentales de la estrategia —promovida por el Centro Internacional de Mejoramiento de Maíz y Trigo (CIMMYT) y la SDAyR, a través de MasAgro Guanajuato— son la conservación del suelo y un mejor aprovechamiento del agua de lluvia.
Debido a que la agricultura de temporal depende de la lluvia del ciclo primavera-verano, las condiciones del suelo y los cultivos óptimos, entre otros factores, la estrategia fomenta la comprensión amplia de los diversos climas, suelos y plantas cultivadas. Cosechando Agua Guanajuato surge de Reto Rastrojo, otra estrategia impulsada por el equipo del CIMMYT en aquella entidad. En su enfoque, es fundamental realizar una planeación del ciclo de lluvias con base en propuestas sustentables y prácticas para implementar procesos de acondicionamiento y suplementación de humedad y nutrientes.
Los pilares de la estrategia son la Agricultura de Conservación, que fomenta el aprovechamiento de los residuos sobre la superficie cultivada, la rotación de cultivos y el mínimo movimiento del suelo; la labranza en banda, que se refiere al movimiento vertical de suelo sobre la línea de siembra; la rotura vertical, para una adecuada compactación de la tierra; y las curvas de nivel, que reducen la erosión del suelo y aumentan la retención de agua en terrenos de ladera.
Como complemento a estos pilares, la estrategia promueve el Manejo Agroecológico de Plagas, el Manejo Integrado de Malezas, la optimización de la fertilidad de los suelos, la selección de las variedades de semillas más adecuadas y la implementación de mejores prácticas para el manejo poscosecha de granos básicos, entre otros aspectos. De esta manera, la estrategia permite a los productores implementar prácticas particularmente útiles en zonas con lluvias irregulares, temperaturas extremas y suelos áridos o con otras limitantes físicas, químicas y biológicas.
Las propuestas de intervención que complementan a estos pilares son los siguientes:
I. Manejo agroecológico de plagas
Feromonas para el control de plagas.
Monitoreo de plagas en campo (determinación de umbral económico).
Tratamientos de semillas (uso de micorrizas y Azospirillum en maíz y sorgo, Trichoderma en frijol y garbanzo).
Uso de la biodiversidad funcional (enemigos naturales).
II. Manejo integral de malezas
Uso de herbicidas preemergentes.
Identificación y monitoreo de malezas en campo.
Control mecánico.
Control químico (calibración de equipo de aspersión, boquilla adecuada, acondicionamiento del agua, dosis adecuada, etapa adecuada del cultivo, entre otros).
III. Fertilidad de suelos (física, química, biológica)
Recomendación de mezclas y fuentes con base en análisis de suelo y meta de rendimiento.
Abonos orgánicos como fuente de nutrientes (compostas, estiércoles, lixiviados, abonos orgánicos fermentados)
Aplicación del fertilizante en momentos adecuados (con uso de las curvas de demanda de los cultivos).
Biofertilizantes como fuente de nutrientes.
Enmiendas de suelo.
Forma de aplicación del fertilizante para optimizar su efectividad: enterrado manual, enterrada mecánica, enterrada con yunta y foliar.
IV. Semillas mejoradas
Mejoramiento de criollos.
Variedades adecuadas mejoradas (incluye polinización abierta (OPV) maíz).

Anna is now fully deboxed. Her skirts are stiff enough to permit her to free stand, although she a bit unstable this way. She is posed standing, supported by her included doll stand. All photos were taken with the built-in camera flash.
Anna is in her coronation gown, with a velvet black bodice and green skirt. The bodice is form fitting, with multicolored embroidery and jewels, with a dark green satin shoulder straps. Her outer skirt is made of panels of yellow green embroidered and jeweled satin alternating with plain dark green satin panels, the pattern repeating ten times. The lighter green panels are tacked together with plastic T-tabs, so we don't see the full extent of the skirt. When the sections are freed, the skirt can expand to a full semicircle. Under the skirt is a full length yellow green satin slip, with a wide lacy hem. Under that is a 3/4 length stiff tulle petticoat. Under that are yellow green satin knee-length bloomers. Finally under that are full length stockings or leggings. Anna is certainly dressed for cold weather. Her legs are wired to the doll stand at the ankles and knees. Her feet are posable, and she is wearing black flats, which is rather disappointing given the gorgeous and unique shoes that Elsa is wearing. She is wearing a necklace, with the pendant stuck to her chest.
Her face is very movie accurate. She has a round face, with huge blue green eyes, long gently curving rooted eyelashes, thin dark brown eyebrows. She has a small pointy nose, thin dark pink lips in a slight smirk, and large round ears. She has orange freckles all over her face, extending down to her neck, shoulders and chest, and even on her upper back. She has a very pale complexion, but her sister Elsa is much, much paler. Her body is the usual LE Princess body, with full articulation in her arms and legs, and an upper torso joint. Her rusty red hair is fashioned into a large bun in the back of her head, with a spiraling braid around a small bun in the middle, out of which comes several thin ponytails, including two very skinny braids, and also several satin ribbons. In front are long curly bangs, and a tight flat braid over it. There is a streak of white hair from her right side, and ending in one of the thin pony tails hanging off the small bun.
Anna is very beautiful and elegant, very much a Disney Princess.
First look at the Harrods special edition of the Disney Store's Limited Edition Anna and Elsa Doll Set. I purchased it through a reseller, as it was only sold at the Harrods London store. It was released on November 1, 2013, in an edition of 100. The retail cost is more than four times that of the separately sold LE Anna and Elsa dolls (which will be released worldwide on November 20, 2013, in an edition size of 2500). My set is #39 of 100, and I received it on November 11, 2013.
They are 17'' fully articulated dolls, with doll stands and certificated of authenticity. Anna is in her coronation gown, Elsa is in her Snow Queen gown. As might be expected, the dolls are considerably different in details than the ''regular'' limited edition dolls. In particular there is considerably more crystals on the outfits, and embroidered snowflakes completely cover the outer gown (cape) of Elsa. Also, Elsa's skin has a pearly shiny surface, very similar to the skin of LE Ursula, although it has a much paler purplish color. She has unique shoes, iridescent blue high heeled shoes with a snowflake design. She also bucks the trend of fully articulated legs in the Limited Edition dolls, by having fixed angled feet. She looks much more elegant with fixed feet in the high heels.

If time permits, then any trip to the Basque Country should include a visit to Gaztelugatxe. It's a 'must-see' destination. Gaztelugatxe - which means 'Castle Rock' in the Basque language (“gaztelu” = castle + “aitz” = rock) - is an island located just off the shore along the Bay of Biscay, 35 km east of the provincial capital, Bilbao. The island is cone-shaped and is connected to the mainland by a man-made bridge. On top of the island stands a hermitage (named Gaztelugatxeko Doniene in Basque; San Juan de Gaztelugatxe in Spanish), dedicated to John the Baptist dating from the 10th century, although discoveries indicate that the date might even be the 9th century.
The hermitage/church is by no means original; having been burnt down and rebuilt several times over the centuries. In the 12th century, it became a convent. However, two centuries later, the friars abandoned it taking with them everything of value.
The main starting point for the walk to Gaztelugaxe is a large restaurant/parking/picnic area on top of the cliffs overlooking the island. There are two paths down to the shoreline, which both provide spectacular views. Once at the man-made bridge, the route transitions into a narrow path made up of 241 steps zigzagging their way back and forth up to the hermitage at the summit. According to legend, after completing the climb, visitors should ring the bell, hanging on the outside of the building, three times and make a wish. The walk back up the hill beckons but - no matter - the round-trip will have been quite exhilarating!

The contractor obtained the building permit as we were the subcontractor on this job. We provided, graded and compacted fill dirt as needed. We provided the proctor and field density tests. We provided the termite pretreatment and covered with 6-mil visquien. We poured and finished the 23' x 15' concrete slab with 12" x 16" footers and 2 #5 rebar. We poured with 4000 PSI concrete with fiber mesh reinforcement. We hand troweled the concrete.

Texcoco, Edo. Méx.- Los problemas de nutrición en el mundo van en aumento. La estimación más reciente —correspondiente a 2018— de la Organización de las Naciones Unidas (ONU) indica que alrededor de 821 millones de personas en todo el planeta están subalimentadas. Es decir, una de cada nueve personas no consume una cantidad suficiente de energía alimentaria que satisfaga sus necesidades para llevar una vida activa y saludable.
Aunque en el caso de México la prevalencia de la subalimentación es de alrededor de 5% —siendo de 13% el promedio de los países en desarrollo—, los problemas de nutrición persisten y se han vuelto complejos. Actualmente, existe más de una forma de malnutrición, desde la obesidad hasta la carencia o insuficiencia de micronutrientes (vitaminas y minerales).
De acuerdo con la Comisión EAT-Lancet —en la que participan reconocidos científicos junto con representantes de los sectores público y privado relacionados con la producción de alimentos y la salud humana—, la problemática de la nutrición requiere reorientar la producción agrícola para focalizarla en la elaboración de alimentos más saludables y de mayor calidad. Lograr la seguridad nutricional poniendo énfasis en la calidad de los alimentos beneficiaría adicionalmente la salud del planeta.
¿Cómo pueden las dietas más saludables reducir el impacto ambiental? Si se implementan prácticas agrícolas más eficientes y sustentables, se puede producir más y de mejor calidad con menos recursos, disminuyendo también la deforestación para la expansión de las tierras de cultivo. Esto es relevante en un contexto en el que el aumento de la población exige, y exigirá, cada vez más alimentos.
Sin embargo, para reorientar la producción agrícola, producir alimentos de mejor calidad y reducir los problemas nutricionales y ambientales, hacen falta sinergias y estrategias que involucren y beneficien a todos los actores de las cadenas de valor de los cultivos fundamentales para la dieta y la nutrición en México y el mundo, como el maíz.
El proyecto Apoyo al Abastecimiento Responsable en México —de la Compañía Kellogg y el Centro Internacional de Mejoramiento de Maíz y Trigo (CIMMYT)— es una iniciativa para mitigar y favorecer la adaptación a los efectos del cambio climático en el campo, así como para brindar mayores oportunidades a productores mexicanos que demuestran competitividad global y calidad de su producción.
Este proyecto —que actualmente opera en Guanajuato y Sinaloa— fomenta el desarrollo de sistemas agroalimentarios no solamente enfocados en el volumen, sino también en la calidad y la nutrición. Como consecuencia de la implementación de prácticas agrícolas sustentables, el proyecto también contribuye a la salud del medioambiente.
En el ciclo agrícola otoño-invierno 2018-19, por ejemplo, los productores del proyecto Apoyo al Abastecimiento Responsable en México eliminaron por completo el uso de agroquímicos de uso restringido. Adicionalmente, el número de aplicaciones y la cantidad de productos admitidos también se redujeron considerablemente (aproximadamente dos terceras partes). Esto incide directamente en la calidad e inocuidad de los alimentos y confirma que, con una Agricultura Sustentable, es posible mejorar la nutrición y la salud no sólo de los consumidores, sino también de los operadores agrícolas.
Una producción sustentable requiere verificar que los agricultores realicen cambios que no sólo beneficien al medioambiente, sino también a sus utilidades, y que esto suceda de forma sostenida en el tiempo. Tras dos ciclos de operación, este proyecto ha demostrado que, si bien los ingresos totales pueden ser similares a los que se obtienen mediante la producción convencional, las prácticas de sustentabilidad suponen ahorros importantes en los costos productivos, lo cual se traduce en utilidades al menos 10% mayores para el productor.
Trabajar por una alimentación más sana, nutritiva y suficiente mediante la producción sustentable es también promover el cuidado de los ecosistemas. El proyecto Apoyo al Abastecimiento Responsable en México es un ejemplo de cómo la ciencia y la responsabilidad social pueden ofrecer soluciones clave para la humanidad.

State denies liquor permit for Danbury club

DANBURY -- The state Liquor Control Commission has denied Horizon Restaurant's application for a permanent liquor license and revoked a temporary permit that allowed the business to serve alcohol.
The latest move by state officials comes about a week after the city issued a cease and desist order for Horizon based on allegations the business was operating not as a restaurant but as a nightclub, which is not allowed in the zone, according to city regulations.
The state followed suit Jan. 5 and suspended the temporary restaurant liquor permit Horizon was operating under, while the business waited for a decision on its application for a permanent license.
The commission issued the memorandum of decision last Thursday, and the city received it Monday. It says Horizon's owners claim to be operating a restaurant, but "food is rarely -- if ever -- ordered."
"Horizon advertisements promote dancing, DJ entertainment and the service of alcohol, including 'bottle service,'" the decision says. "... We find that Horizon operates like a cafe which is primarily engaged in the sale of alcoholic beverages."
The decision gives Horizon's owners -- Echo Nightlife LLC -- until Thursday to voluntary withdraw the application and cancel the temporary permit in light of "repercussions of revocation" set out in state statutes.
Commission director John Suchy said anyone who has a liquor license application denied or a temporary permit withdrawn is not allowed to apply for another permit for one year.
Dan Casagrande, an attorney who presented the city's position during the commission's review process, said he is pleased with the decision. He added a court hearing will be held Jan. 20 on the city's injunction request against Horizon.
"Under state law we can seek a permanent injunction," Casagrande said.
He added that Danbury is seeking a court order that would prevent Horizon owners from operating a business on the site "unless and until they receive the appropriate zoning approvals from the city."
Under the cease and desist order the city filed against Horizon last week, Casagrande said, the owners could reopen as a restaurant -- without a liquor license, of course -- if all issues of concern are resolved.
"It seems as though this is finally over, but you never know," said CityCenter executive director Andrea Gartner, who filed an objection to Horizon's liquor application along with about nine other city residents,
"The city has put a tremendous amount of resources into this, and for good reason. What was going on down there wasn't what anyone wanted downtown."
John Jowdy, an attorney representing Horizon, said he has yet to discuss with his clients their plans for the future in light of the state's most recent decision.
Gary Tiso, the principle member of Echo Nightlife LLC, could not be reached for comment.

Judge grants permanent injunction against Danbury club Horizon

DANBURY -- The city wants an Ives Street nightclub to reimburse nearly $14,000 the city spent fighting the club in court.
The move is the latest round of trouble for Horizon, a business at 11 Ives St., which had its liquor license pulled earlier this month.
On Tuesday, a judge granted a permanent injunction against Echo Nightlife LLC, the company that owns the club.
The injunction means Echo Nightlife principal Gary Tiso may never again open a cafe or restaurant at the address.
Tiso, through his attorney, agreed to the terms of the injunction Tuesday.
Horizon has been closed since Jan. 2, the day owners allegedly allowed a dangerous overcrowding situation to occur at the club during a teen night event.
Although the club lost its liquor license shortly after that incident, city officials were worried the club would host another alcohol-free teen night, according to Daniel Casagrande, the attorney representing Danbury.
"The concern was that even without a liquor license, they could still hold these teen nights," Casagrande said.
"We saw the police reports which detailed the substantial danger that was created because of the overcrowding, so the city asked me to go into court and obtain a permanent injunction that would prohibit them from opening for any purpose."
The injunction said if Tiso ever wants to open another type of business at 11 Ives St. -- an office, for instance -- it must first be approved by the city.
Anna is now fully deboxed. Her skirts are stiff enough to permit her to free stand, although she a bit unstable this way. She is posed standing, supported by her included doll stand. All photos were taken with the built-in camera flash.
Anna is in her coronation gown, with a velvet black bodice and green skirt. The bodice is form fitting, with multicolored embroidery and jewels, with a dark green satin shoulder straps. Her outer skirt is made of panels of yellow green embroidered and jeweled satin alternating with plain dark green satin panels, the pattern repeating ten times. The lighter green panels are tacked together with plastic T-tabs, so we don't see the full extent of the skirt. When the sections are freed, the skirt can expand to a full semicircle. Under the skirt is a full length yellow green satin slip, with a wide lacy hem. Under that is a 3/4 length stiff tulle petticoat. Under that are yellow green satin knee-length bloomers. Finally under that are full length stockings or leggings. Anna is certainly dressed for cold weather. Her legs are wired to the doll stand at the ankles and knees. Her feet are posable, and she is wearing black flats, which is rather disappointing given the gorgeous and unique shoes that Elsa is wearing. She is wearing a necklace, with the pendant stuck to her chest.
Her face is very movie accurate. She has a round face, with huge blue green eyes, long gently curving rooted eyelashes, thin dark brown eyebrows. She has a small pointy nose, thin dark pink lips in a slight smirk, and large round ears. She has orange freckles all over her face, extending down to her neck, shoulders and chest, and even on her upper back. She has a very pale complexion, but her sister Elsa is much, much paler. Her body is the usual LE Princess body, with full articulation in her arms and legs, and an upper torso joint. Her rusty red hair is fashioned into a large bun in the back of her head, with a spiraling braid around a small bun in the middle, out of which comes several thin ponytails, including two very skinny braids, and also several satin ribbons. In front are long curly bangs, and a tight flat braid over it. There is a streak of white hair from her right side, and ending in one of the thin pony tails hanging off the small bun.
Anna is very beautiful and elegant, very much a Disney Princess.
First look at the Harrods special edition of the Disney Store's Limited Edition Anna and Elsa Doll Set. I purchased it through a reseller, as it was only sold at the Harrods London store. It was released on November 1, 2013, in an edition of 100. The retail cost is more than four times that of the separately sold LE Anna and Elsa dolls (which will be released worldwide on November 20, 2013, in an edition size of 2500). My set is #39 of 100, and I received it on November 11, 2013.
They are 17'' fully articulated dolls, with doll stands and certificated of authenticity. Anna is in her coronation gown, Elsa is in her Snow Queen gown. As might be expected, the dolls are considerably different in details than the ''regular'' limited edition dolls. In particular there is considerably more crystals on the outfits, and embroidered snowflakes completely cover the outer gown (cape) of Elsa. Also, Elsa's skin has a pearly shiny surface, very similar to the skin of LE Ursula, although it has a much paler purplish color. She has unique shoes, iridescent blue high heeled shoes with a snowflake design. She also bucks the trend of fully articulated legs in the Limited Edition dolls, by having fixed angled feet. She looks much more elegant with fixed feet in the high heels.
