This is a photograph from the start second annual running of the Renault Mullingar Half Marathon which was held on Friday 17th March 2017 St. Patrick's Day Lá Fhéile Pádraig 2017 in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, Ireland at 10:30. Following on from the incredible success of the first two years of the race this year the total numbers participating rose from just under 600 in 2015, 900 in 2016 to over 1200 in this year 2017. As was the case last year the nominated charity was Childline. The roots of the successs of the event last year was the perfect running weather, excellent organisation and a very flat and fast route. All of these characteristics were repeated this year.
Last year's weather was not repeated. Indeed the race could be described as a race of two halves in terms of weather. The first half participants had the strong, fresh westerly wind on their backs. However, turning for home along the Royal Canal this became a very strong headwind for 3 - 4 miles. Participants travelled from all over Ireland with a very large participation from runners around Mullingar and the midlands. The race has an AAI permit. The race's early start time was to facilitate the annual St. Patrick's Day parade which brings a large number of local visitors to the town on an annual basis. Parking is free in Mullingar town for the entire day. A small change to the course configuration seen the race cross the M4 Motorway at The Downs via a winding pedestrian footbridge.
The race began on Pearse Street/Austin Friar's Street in the town and proceeds North East out of the town to the N52 Delvin/Dundalk road towards Lough Sheever. The course then follows beautiful rural country roads out to The Downs at the M4. The only significant hill or rise on the course occurs here at about 7 miles when runners cross a pedestrian footbridge over the M4 near Junction 14 Thomas Flynn and Sons The Downs. The race then joins the now local access route of the old N4 road and then joins the Royal Canal at Great Down. The remainder of the race follows the Royal Canal back westward to Mullingar town. The towpath on the Canal is perfectly flat and in excellent condition. Runners will notice how the level of the canal changes dramatically along the route - at points the canal is level with the towpath. In other places the canal is at least 3 meters lower than the canal path. However the path is perfectly flat and firm the whole way. The course then leaves the Royal Canal at the Ardmore Road/Millmount area of the town and finishes in the Mullingar Town Park on Austin Friar's Street beside the Annebrook Hotel which is the Race Headquarters. The park provides a very nice setting for the finish of the race and runners and their families can mix and congregate around the finish area and the hotel.

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. Querida amiga: te escribo esta carta para pedirte que dejes al miserable, cobarde e imbécil de tu novio de una vez. Miserable, porque permite que su familia te falte al respeto y te desprecie; cobarde, porque se siente muy hombre cuando te desprecia y te dice cosas hirientes delante de sus amigos por tu trabajo humilde y por no haber ido a la Universidad. Imbécil, porque desprecia tus sentimientos nobles y tus objetivos en la vida de querer casarte y tener un hijo.
A diario tus amigos tenemos ocasión de comprobar el daño que esa persona te está haciendo. No puedes quedar con ningún amigo, ni con ninguna amiga, porque tu pareja controla todo lo que haces. Incluso cronometra lo que tardas en salir de tu trabajo.
Pero es que, además, este imbécil de tu novio te humilla en público. La semana pasada, sin ir más lejos, en aquella cafetería elegante, se burló de ti delante de sus amigos, quienes, como la pandilla de estúpidos machistas que son, le siguieron la broma, porque se sienten muy hombres haciendo llorar a una mujer en un sitio público.
Tú no tienes la culpa de haber permitido que una mala persona entrase en tu vida. Pero sí tienes el poder de decidir que esa persona salga de ella. Debes hacerlo YA, por tu propio bien y por el de quienes te apreciamos, que ya no soportamos más esta situación.
La verdad, querida amiga, es que este hombre te está engañando. No sólo no te quiere, como lo demuestra cada vez que refuerza su autoestima haciéndote llorar, sino que para él tu proyecto de vida de casarte y tener un hijo, es algo digno de burla. Nunca se casará contigo. No lo hará, primero porque carece de la hombría suficiente como para afrontar una relación estable demasiado tiempo; segundo porque está demasiado cómodo viviendo bajo las faldas de su mamá, que le hace el desayuno y la comidita; tercero porque su familia considera que tú no tienes la categoría social suficiente para él. Te desprecian profundamente, por tu origen humilde; pero ese desprecio es compartido por tu novio, quien se siente superior a ti en todos los aspectos.
Por último, amiga mía, ese hombre no te quiere. No desea mantener una relación formal contigo más allá de lo necesario para volver a llevarte a la cama esta noche. Y luego volverá a insultarte, a exhibirte como un trofeo delante de sus amigos, y te dirá eso de que no es un buen momento para casarse porque... y créeme, para él NUNCA llegará ese momento.
Como amigo tuyo y testigo involuntario de tu desgracia, te pido sólo una cosa: déjalo. Deja de una vez a ese hombre, manda a su estúpida familia de gente engreída y superficial a freir churros. No le concedas ni un solo minuto más de tu valioso tiempo. Tú no tienes nada malo. Ni tu origen es algo malo, ni tu nivel de estudios es algo malo, ni tus objetivos en la vida son algo malo ni de lo que avergonzarse.
Deja de una vez a ese imbécil y ya verás cómo te vas a sentir mucho mejor.

Castillo de Almansa
Situación
El castillo de Almansa se alza sobre una enhiesta formación rocosa denominada Cerro del Águila, dominando a gran altura la población de Almansa y la llanura sobre la que se asienta. Almansa es una localidad estratégica por ser una encrucijada de caminos que permite las comunicaciones con las comunidades vecinas.
Historia
Los orígenes del castillo de Almansa se remontan al período almohade, cuya característica forma de construcción, el tapial, permanece patente aún hoy día en alguno de sus muros, siendo ésta parte la más antigua conservada en el castillo.
El castillo fue reconquistado por Jaime I, quien lo cedió a la Orden del Temple, pasando posteriormente al reino de Castilla. Alfonso X el Sabio lo dotó de dos fueros, el de Requena y el de Cuenca.
Aunque fue ya famoso por su importancia a principios del siglo XII, el castillo actual fue construido por el infante Don Juan Manuel en el siglo XIV.
Aunque el castillo fue ya famoso por su importancia a principios del siglo XII, en el siglo XIV pasó a manos del infante don Juan Manuel, quien lo mandó reconstruir sobre las fortificaciones musulmanas, diferenciándose claramente la mampostería cristiana del tapial árabe. Su aspecto actual corresponde, además, a las reformas realizadas en la época del marqués de Villena, Don Juan Pacheco.
En 1707 el castillo fue escenario, durante la Guerra de Sucesión, de una batalla de renombre histórico, la batalla de Almansa. En ella, fueron derrotados y capturados nueve mil soldados austriacos. Venció el ejército franco-español, encabezado por el duque de Berwick. A partir de esta batalla, se inclinó la guerra a favor del asentamiento de Felipe V y la dinastía de los Borbones en el Trono de España.
A partir del siglo XVI, el castillo de Almansa, al igual que otros muchos castillos españoles, entró en un largo proceso de abandono, ya que sus principales funciones quedaron en desuso, con el lógico deterioro que esto conlleva.
En 1919 el alcalde de Almansa denunció el estado ruinoso del castillo y solicitó permiso para su demolición, pero gracias a los informes realizados por la Real Academia de la Historia y la Real academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, en contra de la petición del Ayuntamiento, el castillo de Almansa no sólo se salvó, sino que además, por Real Orden de febrero de 1921 fue declarado Monumento Histórico Artístico Nacional.
En 1952 el castillo experimentó una profunda restauración en su periferia. En el interior no reconstruido, solo quedaron unos escasos restos que permiten conjeturar su primitiva configuración. Durante las obras realizadas se descubrió una bellísima escalera de caracol que desde la torre del homenaje da acceso a la terraza superior de dicho torreón. En 1990 se puso un marcha un proyecto de reparación y estabilización de los agrietamientos, que consistió básicamente en el cosido de los estratos rocosos, mediante la colocación de anclajes y recalce de las murallas con inyecciones de cemento. Se colocaron diez vigas-contrafuertes para la recogida de las cabezas de los anclajes, que se pueden apreciar en el flanco oriental.
Descripción
Se asienta sobre un montículo rocoso que dificulta su acceso. Su forma es rectangular y se divide en dos recintos a distintas alturas alturas. En la parte más elevada, hay una muralla rematada en almenas y, en la parte más baja, hay torreones. En la zona de mayor altura del recinto, se localiza la torre del homenaje que es de grandes dimensiones y que se encuentra rematada en almenas.
El recinto inferior del castillo posee dos puertas de acceso. la puerta del lado oeste, por la que se entraba a pie y a caballo a través de su imponente barbacana, es la que se utiliza actualmente. Atravesando el patio de armas se encuentra la puerta del lado este, por la que se accedía con carros y carruajes.
La torre del homenaje es la parte más destacada de todo el edificio, y se encuentra jalonando la muralla en la parte más alta del recinto. Su planta es rectangular y la entrada se encuentra en alto, para hacer el acceso más difícil. La torre tieve escasos vanos y está rematada por almenas para su defensa. En la parte superior de la torre hay una terraza almenada a la que se accede por una escalera de caracol tallada en la roca, con elementos de cantería, y que está considerada una maravilla dentro del gótico de la zona.
Entre las partes defensivas del castillo destaca la muralla, que se extiende a lo largo del cerro sobre el que se asienta. Su monótona estructura se rompe con las torres semicirculares de sus esquinas, que tienen una barbacana defensiva para su acceso. Como el resto de la construcción, toda la estructura esta rematada con almenas piramidales.
Materiales
El castillo está construido en piedra. En los lienzos o muros, se utiliza el sillarejo, es decir, piedra poco trabajada. Y, en las esquinas de las torres, se utiliza el sillar, es decir, piedra labrada en su totalidad. En las partes hechas en época musulmana, se utilizó el tapial.
Estado de conservación
El estado del edificio es bueno pues en el siglo XX se iniciaron las labores de restauración (1952 y 1990). Hoy en día, se ha acondicionado para la visita de los turistas.
Propiedad y uso
Es propiedad del Ayuntamiento de Almansa, y su destino es turístico.
Visitas
Es un lugar muy frecuentado por los turistas interesados en nuestro patrimonio artístico, y permanece abierto todos los días excepto los martes.
Horario de lunes a viernes: de 11:00 horas a 13:00 horas y de 17:00 horas a 18:30 horas.
Horario de sábados, domingos y festivos: de 11:00 horas a 14:00 horas y de 16:00 horas a 18:30 horas.
Entrada: Normal: 3 euros.

Protección
Fue declarado Monumento Histórico Artístico Nacional por Real Orden de febrero de 1921.. Bajo la protección de la Declaración genérica del Decreto de 22 de abril de 1949, y la Ley 16/1985 sobre el Patrimonio Histórico Español.

Michelle Bailey fires a gun for the first time on Friday at the Gun Rack in Kingsport. Bailey owns a gun and is taking her carry permit class.
The permit, Trachinotus falcatus, is a game fish of the western Atlantic ocean belonging to the Carangidae family. Adults feed on crabs, shrimp, and smaller fish. Two submarines of the United States Navy were named USS Permit in its honor, in keeping with the "denizens of the deep" theme of submarine names that prevailed before the 1971 naming of USS Los Angeles.
The permit's genus name, Trachinotus comes from a fusion of the Greek words trachys (τραχύς), which means "rough", and noton (νωτον), meaning "back." The species name for the permit, falcatus, is a Latin adjective, which roughly means "armed with scythes." This serves as a reference to the permit's dorsal fin that occasionally protrudes from the water when schools of permit feed near the surface
Permits can be distinguished by their elongated dorsal fins and anal fin. The dorsal fin is shaped like a scythe. Permit tails are also deeply forked, and their bodies are compressed laterally, making the fish tall and thin when viewed from the front.
The average permit has six to seven dorsal spines, and eighteen to twenty one soft rays. The anal fin has two to three spines, and sixteen to eighteen soft rays. Both dorsal and anal fins have dark, anterior lobes. Permits have no scutes and have a large, orange-yellow patch on their abdomens in front of their anal fins, while their pectoral fins are dark
Permit are usually found in shallow, tropical waters such as flats, channels, and muddy bottoms. They are usually seen as individuals or in small schools. Although permit are found close to shore and even in some brackish areas, they spawn offshore. Young Permit are found usually in the surf zone where there are plenty of small invertebrates for them to feed on.
Permit are found in the western Atlantic ocean from Massachusetts to Brazil, including most of the Caribbean islands.

As we approached Cho Oyu, where we had a permit to visit the Base Camp only, we actually missed the Base Camp as it was empty. This was wintertime and no climbers.
Instead we drove straight into the Chinese military camp and where greeted by young Chinese border patrols. After the shootings and controversy surrounding nearby Nangpa La, this military camp is manned all year round to protect against refugees fleeing Tibet. It is the highest altitude military station in the world.
We could see Nangpa La in the horizon along the glacier, and with Jonathan Greens excellent book "Murder in the high Himalayas" actually still rolling as an audiobook in my ears, depicting the shootings, murders, that happened here some years ago - by these very same military - this was surreal. And very nervous.
The place was also beautiful in an outerworldly way. But standing there, enjoying the view with these Chinese military boys was one of the strangest experiences of my life.

8. Gran Portal y Escalera de Honor
El zaguán está dotado, como otros muchos portales de Madrid, de dos enormes puertas gemelas cuya función, hoy olvidada, era permitir el acceso de los carruajes de invitados y proveedores por una de ellas y la salida por la contraria facilitando así las complicadas maniobras con las caballerías. Por el contrario, los coches de la casa continuaban el trayecto hasta el arranque de la escalera y, una vez allí, los señores podían descender con comodidad, mientras que el cochero accedía al patio interior donde estaban las caballerizas y el guadarnés.
La Escalera de Honor era uno de los espacios más escenográficos en estos palacetes
decimonónicos; en ella era importante exaltar el prestigio social de los propietarios de la casa.
En la del palacio Cerralbo destacan la barandilla de hierro forjado que perteneció al antiguo Monasterio de las Salesas Reales de la reina Bárbara de Braganza y el gran escudo con las armas del matrimonio Cerralbo, enmarcado entre dos tapices del siglo xvii: uno bruselense con escudos cuartelados de los Carvajal, Padilla, Acuña y Enríquez, y otro de Pastrana con las armas de los Silva, Mendoza y de la Cerda.
El Museo Cerralbo presenta la singularidad de ser uno de los escasos ejemplos en Madrid de palacete decimonónico que conserva su decoración original.
Fue la residencia del XVII marqués de Cerralbo, don Enrique de Aguilera (1845-1922) y su familia, compuesta por su mujer doña Inocencia Serrano y Cerver (1816-1896), viuda de don Antonio del Valle y los dos hijos que esta aporta al matrimonio, don Antonio del Valle y Serrano (1846-1900), I marqués de Villa-Huerta, y doña Amelia (1850-1927), marquesa de Villa-Huerta desde el fallecimiento de su hermano.
Como palacio-museo es un referente obligado para conocer la forma de vida de la aristocracia madrileña de finales del sigo xix y comienzos del xx.
Además, como museo de un coleccionista refleja el gusto artístico de su época, un conjunto considerado, en su momento, como una de las colecciones privadas
más importantes del país y, sin duda, la más completa de su tiempo.
El museo
El edificio, construido entre 1883 y 1893, fue concebido desde un primer momento como vivienda y como lugar donde exponer de forma armónica las obras de arte, antigüedades y curiosidades reunidas por el afán coleccionista de sus propietarios.
Antiguo palacio hoy museo, consta de cuatro plantas: semisótano, piso entresuelo, piso principal y buhardillas. En el semisótano y las buhardillas, antaño dedicados a
servicios del palacio tales como cocinas, despensas, cocheras, cuadras, guadarnés, calderas y cuartos de criados, hoy se encuentran el Salón de Actos y las áreas de uso interno: oficinas, laboratorios de restauración y almacenes.
La visita transcurre por los dos pisos restantes, el primero, o Entresuelo, destinado a la vida cotidiana de los marqueses, y el segundo, o Principal, dedicado a la vida social.
La inalterabilidad al paso del tiempo es sólo aparente, pues a los lógicos cambios operados en la vivienda por la variación de las circunstancias familiares se unen primero el terrible acontecimiento de la guerra civil y, después, las reformas museográficas del siglo xx.
Desde 2002 se ha venido llevando a cabo un minucioso trabajo centrado en la recuperación de los ambientes originales del primitivo palacio.
Esto supone el sacrificio de la apreciación individualizada de las obras de arte en favor de la lectura global de la sala, considerada, ahora, como una pieza de interés artístico en sí misma.

Contractors and NCDOT Engineers met to discuss US 421 / I-40 Business Reconstruction (U-2827B) as part of the ongoing project development. Some general items addressed include: Design, Utilities, Permitting, Right-of-Way and Public Communication. Team members meet on a frequent basis.
About the project: The first section of interstate highway in North Carolina, the 1.2-mile section of U.S. 421/I-40 Business through downtown Winston-Salem opened in 1958 as part of the East-West Expressway. Since then, it has served the city and state well – requiring little maintenance – but because of its age and the outdated design standards, it can no longer accommodate the growing traffic demands of the area.
The combination of age and insufficiencies, coupled with the increasing traffic volumes and accidents, prompted the N.C. Department of Transportation to make a big decision in 2006. It was time to rebuild and streamline the section of Business 40 from west of Fourth Street to east of Church Street. After nearly ten years of planning, the "new and improved" Business 40 will be constructed to meet current design standards so that it can function safely and effectively for the next 50 years – the typical lifespan of an interstate.
Project Highlights
Planning and design for the project began in 2007, and crews broke ground on the $99.2 million project in October 2016. Work, expected to be complete by 2020, involves:
Removing and replacing the existing roadway pavement
Modernizing the entrance and exit ramps
Removing and replacing most bridges on and over Business 40
Lengthening the acceleration and deceleration lanes between ramps
Widening existing roadway shoulders and adding new shoulders
Building portions of a multi-use patch from Lockland Avenue to Liberty Street
Design-Build Process Overview
NCDOT is using a process called "Design-Build," in which a team of designers and contractors are responsible for a project's design, right-of-way acquisition construction and other aspects. The method reduces overall construction time, helps NCDOT avoid cost inflation, allows the contractor to make innovations that save taxpayers money, lessens the environmental impact of the project and alleviates any driving delays for motorists.
The Design-Build process for the Business 40 improvements project has two phases.
Phase I involves improvement to Peters Creek Parkway and other area roadways to manage traffic during Phase II of the project. Work includes:
Widening Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard between Marchall and Trade streets
Improving the intersection at Peters Creek Parkway and Academy Street
Replacing and widening the Peters Creek Parkway bridge over Business 40
Widening and enhancing the ramps at the Peters Creek Parkway interchange
Widening Peters Creek Parkway from the interchange to First Street
Building temporary improvements at various intersections to better handle detoured traffic
Conducting limited work on Business 40 to prepare for its closures
Phase II, which will involve closing I-40 for no more than two years, will begin in late 2018 or early 2019 after Phase 1 is complete. Work involves removing and repaving the interstate and replacing 10 bridges.
Naran (Urdu: ناران) is a town in Kaghan Valley, Mansehra District of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. The Kunhar River, swollen by glacier melt, passes through this town as it meanders its way through the valley. Makra Peak, Malka Parbat, Lalazar and Saiful Muluk are the main attractions.
Fishing Trout fishing is a popular activity in the Kaghan Valley. Fishing for brown and rainbow trout in the crystal clear water of the valley lakes and in the Kunhar River is favorite pastime for many. A fishing permit can be obtained from the Fisheries Department at Shinu or at Naran. Bringing your own angling gear is optional as you can rent equipment fro shopkeepers in Naran Bazaar. Please remember that the use of fishing nets and explosive materials for fishing in rivers and lakes are illegal as they are harmful for the healthy and sustainable growth of trout fish and other wildlife.
Fishing is the chief sport in Kaghan. Brown Trout and Mahasher are stocked in pure silvery waters in the upper parts of the valley. The Kunhar river trout is considered to be the best throughout the sub-continent. Fishing licenses are issued by the 'Fisheries Department at Naran' or by the 'Trout Hatchery' at Shinu. Apart from this there are some other private trout fish farms at Kawai (also spelled as Kiwai) and Kahania.
Trekking and Hill Walking Kaghan is an excellent destination for trekking and hill walking. There are a number of trekking routes all along the valley. Brief descriptions of some famous trekking routes are given in Annexure-IV. Naran, Shogran and Sharan are ideal base camps for one to three days outings. There are also good opportunities for those interested in more leisurely day trips, hill walking or nature study walks.
River Rafting River Rafting and kayaking are new sports currently under development along the Kunhar River. As the lifeline of Kaghan Valley, Kunhar River is excellent for rafting. Some sections between Naran are quite technical and suitable only for experienced white water paddlers. Other sections of the river, above Naran and below Balakot, are fun for beginners and are of relatively easy grade. Adventure Foundation Pakistan offers basic and advanced training courses in river running during October and April.
Jeep Safari In addition to short duration jeep rides to Sri Paya, Saiful Muluk, Lalazar and Sharan, Kaghan Valley also ideal for thrilling jeep rides from Naran to Babusar Pass and Nori Top. All these places are unique in landscape and their details are given in the Introduction section. While going on a longer duration jeep ride make sure you have selected a good local driver and jeep for a safe journey on the rough roads.

Naran is a base camp for tourists. Usually tourists stay at Naran to visit popular tourist spots nearby such as Lake Saif-ul-Malook and Lalazar which can only be accessed via 4x4 jeeps which can be hired for day excursions.
The mountain ranges which enter Mansehra district from Kashmir are the offshoots of the great Himalayan system. In Kaghan valley the mountain system is the highest of the area including the Babusar top. This range flanks the right bank of the Kunhar, contains a peak (Malika-e-Parbat) of over 17,000 feet , the highest in the district. On the mountains the grasslands are also found where Gujars and other nomads migrate during summer for grazing their sheep, goats and other animals. On the northern side there are mountains which are the extension of the same mountain system as that of Kaghan mountains. This range diverges from the eastern side at Musa-ka-Musalla a peak (13,378 feet) , which skirt the northern end of the Bhogarmang and Konsh valleys, and sends down a spur to divide the two. Here also, like Kaghan, thick forests are found especially on the higher slopes. Due to extensive exploitation only in unapproachable areas the thick forests are found.
Malika Parbat (Queen of the mountains) (el. 5,290 metres (17,356 ft)) is the highest peak in Kaghan Valley, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan about six km south of Lake Saiful Muluk near Ansoo Lake.
The entire area is heaven for general tourists, anglers, trekkers and alpinists. Malika Parbat is accessible from Naran-Lake Saiful Muluk side and from Batakundi-Dadar Chitta Glacier. There are three summits that forms Malika Parbat, Malika Parbat Cresta, Malika Parbat Main Peak (South Peak) and Malika Parbat (North Peak). Both the summits stands climbed firstly by the Europeans and in 1998 by Rashid Butt and Omer. Rashid Butt lost his life while descending down the sheer slopes on South Peak. There are other peaks which offer considerable climbing difficulty in Siran Basin, Khabanar Valley and Burji Va-lley, while from Burawai, another cirqua of low peaks is equally good for mountaineering.
It may have cost €25 each but the permit to visit Bukinje workshops at Tuzla was worth every cent. Not every day does the opportunity to see a Kriegslok in commercial use undergoing a heavy overhaul come along. 07.11.2014

When dealing with the Iranians, the Taqiyah comes into play. The word translates loosely into, “lying to an infidel is permitted under any circumstances," and the Iranians have become masterful at deceit and fabrication.
Director of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, Fereydoon Abbasi, told me, “Sometimes the Iranians present certain weaknesses that they don’t have, and sometimes, they present certain strengths that they don’t have.”
My old friend Former Israeli ambassador to the United States, Dore Gold, believes, “By admitting that their diplomacy has been based on a series of lies, the Iranians put into doubt whether any of their statements can be relied upon.”
The enrichment of uranium: While reaching the 90 percent necessary to have an actual weapons grade product, much damage can still be done with the lower-level 20 percent uranium. Reaching the 20 percent mark of enrichment is the most difficult first step. From there, the difficulty in reaching the 90 percent mark decreases exponentially.
The Wall Street Journal has reported that according to various experts, Iran is merely a few months from reaching the 90 percentile level of enrichment. And, nuclear facilities in Isfahan, Natanz, Fordow (near Qum), and Busheir are working at capacity to reach Iran President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s goal.
President Obama also seems convinced that while the centrifuges are rapidly spinning, Iranian leaders have been wringing their hands because uranium would soon be available, but they had no way to deliver the detestable product. NOT! The Iranians have been working diligently to produce a missile capable of reaching designated targets. Missile drills have become a matter of course. There is, too, the danger of having nuclear materials delivered by more mundane methods such as a suitcase bomb.
When talking about sending mixed signals, one must include the current administration. To Iran, the signal is that the US is weak and indecisive—a ready target.
To the Israelis, the signal is, “Under the current president, you stand alone in the cross hairs of a hostile enemy.” So overt is the Obama administration’s disregard for Israel’s safety, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Martin Dempsey has stated that he had no “wish to be complicit” in any decision to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities.
The truth lies in a statement by the Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini during the Iran Revolution in 1979: Israel is the “Little Satan” and the United States is the “Great Satan.”
Since the seizure of the American Embassy in Tehran and the ensuing hostage situation that lasted 444 days, the United States has been in an undeclared war with Iran.
Shot after shot has been fired across the bow of this great Ship of State—the attack on the Marine barracks in Beirut, Lebanon, that left 241 troops dead; improvised explosive devices exported to Iraq which were responsible for the deaths and mutilation of numerous US troops.

About a year ago, I created Flickr album for photos that I had started taking with my iPhone5s; and now I’m creating a new Flickr album for photos that I’ve begun taking with myiPhone6, which just arrived from T-Mobile this morning.
In last year’s album, I wrote, "Whether you’re an amateur or professional photographer, it’s hard to walk around with a modern smartphone in your pocket, and not be tempted to use the built-in camera from time-to-time. Veteran photographers typically sneer at such behavior, and most will tell you that they can instantly recognize an iPhone photo, which they mentally reject as being unworthy of any serious attention.
"After using many earlier models of smartphones over the past several years, I was inclined to agree; after all, I always (well, almost always) had a “real” camera in my pocket (or backpack or camera-bag), and it was always capable of taking a much better photographic image than the mediocre, grainy images shot with a camera-phone.
"But still … there were a few occasions when I desperately wanted to capture some photo-worthy event taking place right in front of me, and inevitably it turned out to be the times when I did not have the “real” camera with me. Or I did have it, but it was buried somewhere in a bag, and I knew that the “event” would have disappeared by the time I found the “real" camera and turned it on. By contrast, the smart-phone was always in my pocket (along with my keys and my wallet, it’s one of the three things I consciously grab every time I walk out the door). And I often found that I could turn it on, point it at the photographic scene, and take the picture much faster than I could do the same thing with a “traditional” camera.
"Meanwhile, smartphone cameras have gotten substantially better in the past few years, from a mechanical/hardware perspective; and the software “intelligence” controlling the camera has become amazingly sophisticated. It’s still not on the same level as a “professional” DSLR camera, but for a large majority of the “average” photographic situations we’re likely to encounter in the unplanned moments of our lives, it’s more and more likely to be “good enough.” The old adage of “the best camera is the one you have with you” is more and more relevant these days. For me, 90% of the success in taking a good photo is simply being in the right place at the right time, being aware that the “photo opportunity” is there, and having a camera — any camera — to take advantage of that opportunity. Only 10% of the time does it matter which camera I’m using, or what technical features I’ve managed to use.
"And now, with the recent advent of the iPhone5s, there is one more improvement — which, as far as I can tell, simply does not exist in any of the “professional” cameras. You can take an unlimited number of “burst-mode” shots with the new iPhone, simply by keeping your finger on the shutter button; instead of being limited to just six (as a few of the DSLR cameras currently offer), you can take 10, 20, or even a hundred shots. And then — almost magically — the iPhone will show you which one or two of the large burst of photos was optimally sharp and clear. With a couple of clicks, you can then delete everything else, and retain only the very best one or two from the entire burst.
"With that in mind, I’ve begun using my iPhone5s for more and more “everyday” photo situations out on the street. Since I’m typically photographing ordinary, mundane events, even the one or two “optimal” shots that the camera-phone retains might not be worth showing anyone else … so there is still a lot of pruning and editing to be done, and I’m lucky if 10% of those “optimal” shots are good enough to justify uploading to Flickr and sharing with the rest of the world. Still, it’s an enormous benefit to know that my editing work can begin with photos that are more-or-less “technically” adequate, and that I don’t have to waste even a second reviewing dozens of technically-mediocre shots that are fuzzy, or blurred.
"Oh, yeah, one other minor benefit of the iPhone5s (and presumably most other current brands of smartphone): it automatically geotags every photo and video, without any special effort on the photographer’s part. Only one of my other big, fat cameras (the Sony Alpha SLT A65) has that feature, and I’ve noticed that almost none of the “new” mirrorless cameras have got a built-in GPS thingy that will perform the geotagging...
"I’ve had my iPhone5s for a couple of months now, but I’ve only been using the “burst-mode” photography feature aggressively for the past couple of weeks. As a result, the initial batch of photos that I’m uploading are all taken in the greater-NYC area. But as time goes on, and as my normal travel routine takes me to other parts of the world, I hope to add more and more “everyday” scenes in cities that I might not have the opportunity to photograph in a “serious” way.

Okay, so now it’s September of 2014, and I’ve got the iPhone 6. They say that the camera is better, and that the internal camera-related hardware/firmware/software is better, too. Obviously, I’ve got the newer iOS, too, and even on the “old” phones, it now supports time-lapse videos along with everything else.
I’ve still got my pocket camera (an amazing little Sony ERX-100 Mark III), and two larger cameras (Sony RX-10, and Sony A7), but I have a feeling that I won’t even be taking them out of the camera bag when I’m out on the street for ordinary day-to-day walking around.
That will depend, obviously, on what kind of photos and videos the iPhone6 is actually capable of taking … so I’m going to try to use it every day, and see what the results look like …

It all began in October 1913 when a man named Arthur Brooks Webster was issued a permit to build a theatre on Queen St East, close to Beech Ave. At the time, the resident Beachers were not too thrilled about having another theatre in their midst; as there were already two other local cinemas (The Coliseum, and The Peter Pan). This forced Webster to petition door to door in the neighborhood, enlisting his friends to help out, and eventually he gained the necessary support.
In April 1914 the Toronto Sunday World reported that the doors were opening on the Theatre Without a Name. Opening nights feature film was "The Squaw Man,” and a contest was announced to name the theatre. For a short time after (April 1914 until December 1914) the theatre ran under the name The Pastime. Within the same year however that name would be changed to Prince Edward, to honor the Prince of Wales. This was a patriotic gesture in response to Britain’s (and, subsequently, Canada’s) declaration of war against Germany. In fact, the stain glass window bearing that name, Prince Edward, remains above the interior doorway of the theatre.
In 1918 Webster died and the theatre was taken over by his son, Cecil Herbert Webster.
Throughout the 1920’s and 1930’s the movie industry changed drastically; from silent films, to talkies, to full sound, and The Prince Edward always kept up with the industry.
In 1937 the name of the theatre was changed to The Fox, and the name has stuck for 70 years. While ownership of the theatre has changed several times, The Fox has remained a mainstay of the Beach Community for nearly a century, making it the longest running cinema in Canada.

(It should be noted the name change from The Prince of Wales to the Fox was due to the Prince of Wales, now King Edward VIII abdicating to marry divorcee Wallis Simpson. The owner Cecil Herbert Webster, strongly disapproved, thus changed the name.)

The 14th Annual Salem So Sweet Chocolate and Ice Sculpture Festival took place on the weekend of Feb 5th thru 7th. It is an event done in Salem, Massachusetts the weekend before Valentine's Day (weather permitting).
There were 23 ice sculptures located around Downtown Salem starting at around 10am on Saturday.
This year... all of the ice sculptures were suppose to be illuminated at night. The lighting was provided by Retonica.
Now... by the time all of the ice sculptures had lights added to them... I had already been walking around Salem for about 6 hours. So I only got pictures of 15 of them that were lit up... and then I decided to go home.
Of the 15 ice sculptures that I took pictures of at night... some of them you could see considerable "damage" to their surface due to melting during the day.
