Uma chávena ou xícara é um pequeno recipiente em forma de taça com uma pega ou alça que a permite sustentar com o polegar e um ou dois dedos. Geralmente, são feitas de cerâmica, porcelana principalmente, mas também se podem encontrar chávenas de vidro.
Destina-se a servir bebidas como chá, café, leite, chocolate, entre outras, sendo que existem formatos e medidas apropriadas para cada tipo de bebida. Por exemplo, as chávenas de café são menores que as de chá. No entanto, não existe nenhum padrão estabelecido para essas medidas ou formatos. Tal não impede, contudo, que se utilizem também as chávenas como medidas para ingredientes em receitas culinárias.
A chávena costuma vir acompanhada do respectivo pires formando um conjunto, que, por sua vez, pode fazer parte de um conjunto maior de várias chávenas, pires, bule, açucareiro, leiteira etc., compondo, assim, um serviço de chá.

Naran (Urdu: ناران) is a town in Kaghan Valley, Mansehra District of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. The Kunhar River, swollen by glacier melt, passes through this town as it meanders its way through the valley. Makra Peak, Malka Parbat, Lalazar and Saiful Muluk are the main attractions.
Fishing Trout fishing is a popular activity in the Kaghan Valley. Fishing for brown and rainbow trout in the crystal clear water of the valley lakes and in the Kunhar River is favorite pastime for many. A fishing permit can be obtained from the Fisheries Department at Shinu or at Naran. Bringing your own angling gear is optional as you can rent equipment fro shopkeepers in Naran Bazaar. Please remember that the use of fishing nets and explosive materials for fishing in rivers and lakes are illegal as they are harmful for the healthy and sustainable growth of trout fish and other wildlife.
Fishing is the chief sport in Kaghan. Brown Trout and Mahasher are stocked in pure silvery waters in the upper parts of the valley. The Kunhar river trout is considered to be the best throughout the sub-continent. Fishing licenses are issued by the 'Fisheries Department at Naran' or by the 'Trout Hatchery' at Shinu. Apart from this there are some other private trout fish farms at Kawai (also spelled as Kiwai) and Kahania.
Trekking and Hill Walking Kaghan is an excellent destination for trekking and hill walking. There are a number of trekking routes all along the valley. Brief descriptions of some famous trekking routes are given in Annexure-IV. Naran, Shogran and Sharan are ideal base camps for one to three days outings. There are also good opportunities for those interested in more leisurely day trips, hill walking or nature study walks.
River Rafting River Rafting and kayaking are new sports currently under development along the Kunhar River. As the lifeline of Kaghan Valley, Kunhar River is excellent for rafting. Some sections between Naran are quite technical and suitable only for experienced white water paddlers. Other sections of the river, above Naran and below Balakot, are fun for beginners and are of relatively easy grade. Adventure Foundation Pakistan offers basic and advanced training courses in river running during October and April.
Jeep Safari In addition to short duration jeep rides to Sri Paya, Saiful Muluk, Lalazar and Sharan, Kaghan Valley also ideal for thrilling jeep rides from Naran to Babusar Pass and Nori Top. All these places are unique in landscape and their details are given in the Introduction section. While going on a longer duration jeep ride make sure you have selected a good local driver and jeep for a safe journey on the rough roads.

Naran is a base camp for tourists. Usually tourists stay at Naran to visit popular tourist spots nearby such as Lake Saif-ul-Malook and Lalazar which can only be accessed via 4x4 jeeps which can be hired for day excursions.
The mountain ranges which enter Mansehra district from Kashmir are the offshoots of the great Himalayan system. In Kaghan valley the mountain system is the highest of the area including the Babusar top. This range flanks the right bank of the Kunhar, contains a peak (Malika-e-Parbat) of over 17,000 feet , the highest in the district. On the mountains the grasslands are also found where Gujars and other nomads migrate during summer for grazing their sheep, goats and other animals. On the northern side there are mountains which are the extension of the same mountain system as that of Kaghan mountains. This range diverges from the eastern side at Musa-ka-Musalla a peak (13,378 feet) , which skirt the northern end of the Bhogarmang and Konsh valleys, and sends down a spur to divide the two. Here also, like Kaghan, thick forests are found especially on the higher slopes. Due to extensive exploitation only in unapproachable areas the thick forests are found.
Malika Parbat (Queen of the mountains) (el. 5,290 metres (17,356 ft)) is the highest peak in Kaghan Valley, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan about six km south of Lake Saiful Muluk near Ansoo Lake.
The entire area is heaven for general tourists, anglers, trekkers and alpinists. Malika Parbat is accessible from Naran-Lake Saiful Muluk side and from Batakundi-Dadar Chitta Glacier. There are three summits that forms Malika Parbat, Malika Parbat Cresta, Malika Parbat Main Peak (South Peak) and Malika Parbat (North Peak). Both the summits stands climbed firstly by the Europeans and in 1998 by Rashid Butt and Omer. Rashid Butt lost his life while descending down the sheer slopes on South Peak. There are other peaks which offer considerable climbing difficulty in Siran Basin, Khabanar Valley and Burji Va-lley, while from Burawai, another cirqua of low peaks is equally good for mountaineering.

This is a photograph from the start second annual running of the Renault Mullingar Half Marathon which was held on Thursday 17th March 2016 St. Patrick's Day Lá Fhéile Pádraig in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, Ireland at 10:30. This photograph was taken at the Green Bridge in Mullingar town. Following on from the incredible success of the innagural year of the race this year the total numbers participating rose from just under 600 in 2015 to over 900 this year. As was the case last year the nominated charity was Childline. The roots of the successs of the event last year was the perfect running weather, excellent organisation and a very flat and fast route. All of these characteristics were repeated this year. Incredibly the weather was almost a carbon copy of last year - cool, clear, still fresh Spring weather presenting runners with little or no wind. Participants travelled from all over Ireland with a very large participation from runners around Mullingar and the midlands. The race has an AAI permit. The race's early start time was to facilitate the annual St. Patrick's Day parade which brings a large number of local visitors to the town on an annual basis. Parking is free in Mullingar town for the entire day.
The race began on Pearse Street/Austin Friar's Street in the town and proceeds North East out of the town to the N52 Delvin/Dundalk road towards Lough Sheever. The course then follows beautiful rural country roads out to The Downs at the M4. The only hill or rise on the course occurs here at about 7 miles when runners cross the M4 at Junction 14 Thomas Flynn and Sons. The race then joins the now local access route of the old N4 road and then joins the Royal Canal at Great Down. The remainder of the race follows the Royal Canal back westward to Mullingar town. The towpath on the Canal is perfectly flat and in excellent condition. Runners will notice how the level of the canal changes dramatically along the route - at points the canal is level with the towpath. In other places the canal is at least 3 meters lower than the canal path. However the path is perfectly flat and firm the whole way. The course then leaves the Royal Canal at the Ardmore Road/Millmount area of the town and finishes in the Mullingar Town Park on Austin Friar's Street beside the Annebrook Hotel which is the Race Headquarters. The park provides a very nice setting for the finish of the race and runners and their families can mix and congregate around the finish area and the hotel.

Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. In Himalaya Magazine, Erik writes: "Chongye Valley, at last. I am overwhelmed by a sense of importance. It feels like the end of some kind of personal pilgrimage.
Chongye is a valley adjecent to and sometimes treated as part of the Yarlung Valley. It is a quiet, windy and barren corridor in Southern Tibet.
Impressive, sure, but so is almost all of these Tibetan valleys. Is this one special? Nothing to suggest that. At this time, in January, the place is emtpy so even if this particular valley had some kind of extra pull it is not noticeable as the tourist season is at its lowest.
There are a couple of brown mounds, some with the usual prayer flags and stone chortens atop, and on one a small Nyingmapa temple.
Not much to see really.
Nothing, if it weren’t for the fact that those mounds are not natural. They are tombs. Very old tombs.
It is who’s buried here that makes this a special place. And it is what this place means for anyone wanting to understand Tibet that made me struggle through all the hazzle of Chinese paperwork, of guides and permits, to finally realizing my dream and come here."

Wikipedia: The Valley of the Kings or Chongye Valley branches off the Yarlung Valley to the southwest and contains a series of graveyard tumuli, burial mounds. South of Tsetang, Tibet, near the town of Chongye (Qonggyai) on Mure Mountain in Qonggyai County of the Shannan Prefecture.
The site possesses eight large mounds of earth resembling natural hills that are believed to contain eight to ten buried Tibetan kings.
"According to Tibetan tradition all the kings from Dri-gum onwards are buried at ‘Phyong-rgyas, but as the site now presents itself, there are just ten tumuli identifiable as the tombs of all the kings from Srong-brtsan-sgam-po to Khri-lde-srong-brtsan, including two princes . . . ."
Other sources, however, have indicated that there are actually nine mounds rather than eight or ten.
The kings believed to be buried at the site include Songtsän Gampo (the founder of the Tibetan Empire), Nansong Mangsten, Tridu Songtsen, Gyangtsa Laban, Tride Tsugtsen, Trisong Detsen, Muni Tsangpo and Tritsu Detsen.

Melissa, esperança. Douglas, exemplo.
“Caramba, meio-dia”. O sol refletia tão forte por detrás da cortina que eu imaginei ter perdido a hora, mas não, eram 7h da manhã. Logo pulei da cama e fui direto tomar um banho frio, pois o calor daqui lhe permite tomar esse tipo de atitude insana, que nem no verão do Rio. Sentia a água bater nos meus ombros e pensava sobre como foi linda a noite anterior com a apresentação do coral no parque. O espírito natalino fluia e colidia com o sereno que caia do céu. Mãos para o alto com os bastões iluminados, foi uma noite feliz. Noite Feliz foi a música que finalizou o espetáculo natalino que Blumenau fez e como jamais vi em nenhum outro lugar.
Saí do banho, chequei meus e-mail e fiquei satisfeito em saber que meu Diário foi destaque no clipping interno da empresa onde trabalho em São Paulo, na IBM, que tem mais de 12 mil funcionários no Brasil. Se eu conseguir tocar o coração de pelo menos 10 desses 12 mil funcionários, pra mim já justifica-se trocar boa parte da minha noite de sono o preparando. Dessas 10 pessoas, espero delas que reflitam sobre seus valores e sobre o tema Solidariedade, tão na moda no mundo de hoje, mas pouco colocado em prática de verdade.
Nove horas. Desço pra tomar um café-da-manhã reforçado e logo subo para escovar meus dentes e partir para mais um dia na Vila Germânica. Assim que chego lá, me deparo com aproximadamente 30 voluntários trabalhando no local. Na segunda-feira, dia 08/12, quando comecei meu trabalho, havia mais de 250 pessoas trabalhando no pavilhão. Essa turma está dando um exemplo de cidadania e garra. O trabalho é intenso e ninguém desanima, muito pelo contrário, parece que o desafio tornou-se maior, e todos ali estão na guerra de verdade, e para vencer. Precisamos de mais voluntários! O cansaço é visível nos gestos e olhares de cada um, em cada gota de suor que escorre pelo rosto e umidece a camisa. Enquanto parte do grupo trabalha, outra parte observa e descansa para repor as energias. “Água gelada, por favor”, grita algum dos voluntários, e vamos em frente, pois tem muito caminhão ainda chegando na Vila, e o melhor: hoje vi muito caminhão também saindo para os abrigos. No fim do dia, notei que os galpões estavam com menos donativos do que ontem, em especial a parte de alimentos. Como roupas e água são os itens que mais aparecem nos caminhões, esse estoque parece ter se mantido no mesmo nível dos últimos dias, o que quer dizer que as doações estão chegando a quem devem chegar! Confesso sentir uma maior satisfação ao carregar caminhões que estão levando doações do que descarregar aqueles que chegam com doações. Não que as chegadas de doações devam ser interrompidas ou tenham menos importância, mas é uma questão de pura satisfação pessoal, como se álguem estivesse falando no pé da sua orelha: “Leva logo isso, porque tem gente esperando!”.
Fiquei na dívida com vocês para esclarecer dois fatos: o primeiro refere-se ao motivo pelos professores da rede pública terem deixado a central de doações ontem. O segundo, trata-se do boato que correu sobre a necessidade de entregar o pavilhão da Vila Germânica nessa sexta-feira devido à realização de um evento no fim-de-semana.
Bem, quanto aos professores terem deixado a central, achei a justificativa hiper coerente. Devido à dificuldade com a logística na Vila Germânica, decidiram que grande parte dos caminhões partiriam para as escolas municipais e lá mesmo ocorreriam as triagens, o que resulta na redução do fluxo de doações a passarem pela triagem na central, que já está abarrotada de coisas, e assim agiliza o processo de entregas dos produtos aos desabrigados, já que os mesmos se deslocarão até essas escolas para buscarem os donativos. Achei uma ótima notícia.
Quanto à necessidade da entrega do pavilhão, isso, de fato, vai acontecer, porém, ainda sem data definida. Isso quer dizer que durante esse fim-de-semana muito trabalho ainda está pela frente. A necessidade de entrega do pavilhão é um tema muito polêmico por aqui, pois uns acreditam que seja importante liberar o espaço o mais rápido possível, uma vez que na Vila Germânica acontecem diversos eventos que resultam no aquecimento da economia local. Outros já pensam que é hora de dar prioridade às vítimas e deixar para resolver o problema da economia local mais pra frente. Bem, se perguntarem a minha opinião, ouvirão que acredito ser mais importante, nesse momento, a vida humana, que clama por comida, roupa e acolhimento, então eu acho que pelo menos até a próxima quarta-feira o espaço deve ser dedicado à central de doações. Mas, enfim, sabemos que existem muitas questões por trás, então prefiro não tornar o assunto mais polêmico do que já é. Finalizo meus comentários sobre esse assunto por aqui, mas lhes manterei atualizados sobre a questão.
Sobre o título do diário de hoje... “Melissa, esperança. Douglas, exemplo”.
Hoje conheci duas crianças que iluminaram o meu dia e me fizeram pensar sobre o valor da vida e a importância da solidariedade. Nós somos humanos. Ou a gente trata da gente ou o mundo logo, logo sofrerá com a extinção dessa espécie, pois não seremos capazes de sobreviver a catástrofes que já são esperadas pelos cientistas e pesquisadoras, como a falta d'água e de comida no planeta, por exemplo. Os nomes dessas crianças que imuminaram meu dia são Melissa e Douglas.
A Melissa é uma meninha de aproximadamente um aninho e poucos meses, a coisa mais fofa do mundo. Ela estava no colo de um rapaz e acompanhada pela sua mãe. Melissa é uma das vítimas das enchentes que caíram sobre Blumenau e estava lá à procura de donativos. Não resisti à emoção e pedi para tirar uma foto dela. Ela sorria e ficava doida para pegar a câmera da minha mão. Tirei a foto e a mostrei. Seus olhos brilhavam, enquanto os meus lacrimejam de emoção. Melissa me provocou um sentimento profundo de esperança.
O Douglas é um menino de 13 anos, morador de uma região de Blumenau que não foi atingida gravemente. Douglas é um exemplo para muitos adultos: como está de férias na escola, decidiu, por livre e espontânea vontade, que queria passar dias das suas férias ajudando como voluntário na Vila Germânica. O Douglas carrega caixas pesadas pra lá e pra cá e se diverte com tudo isso. A “brincadeira” preferida dele é o da fila indiana com as caixas de roupas. Ele ri, ele fala, ele quer participar, ele quer ajudar! Douglas é um exemplo pra você, Douglas é um exemplo pra mim. Pena que não há muitos Douglas por aí. Douglas não precisou parar de falar, ele simplesmente fez, antes mesmo de falar ou criticar qualquer coisa. Precisamos de gente que pare de falar e comece logo a fazer! É muita gente falando!!!
Amanhã nasce um novo dia. Que Deus proteja Melissa e Douglas, os heróis do nosso dia.
PS. Hoje tive a boa notícia que amanhã virão 250 voluntários de São Paulo para ajudar nos trabalhos, isso não é maravilhoso?

Castillo de Almansa
Situación
El castillo de Almansa se alza sobre una enhiesta formación rocosa denominada Cerro del Águila, dominando a gran altura la población de Almansa y la llanura sobre la que se asienta. Almansa es una localidad estratégica por ser una encrucijada de caminos que permite las comunicaciones con las comunidades vecinas.
Historia
Los orígenes del castillo de Almansa se remontan al período almohade, cuya característica forma de construcción, el tapial, permanece patente aún hoy día en alguno de sus muros, siendo ésta parte la más antigua conservada en el castillo.
El castillo fue reconquistado por Jaime I, quien lo cedió a la Orden del Temple, pasando posteriormente al reino de Castilla. Alfonso X el Sabio lo dotó de dos fueros, el de Requena y el de Cuenca.
Aunque fue ya famoso por su importancia a principios del siglo XII, el castillo actual fue construido por el infante Don Juan Manuel en el siglo XIV.
Aunque el castillo fue ya famoso por su importancia a principios del siglo XII, en el siglo XIV pasó a manos del infante don Juan Manuel, quien lo mandó reconstruir sobre las fortificaciones musulmanas, diferenciándose claramente la mampostería cristiana del tapial árabe. Su aspecto actual corresponde, además, a las reformas realizadas en la época del marqués de Villena, Don Juan Pacheco.
En 1707 el castillo fue escenario, durante la Guerra de Sucesión, de una batalla de renombre histórico, la batalla de Almansa. En ella, fueron derrotados y capturados nueve mil soldados austriacos. Venció el ejército franco-español, encabezado por el duque de Berwick. A partir de esta batalla, se inclinó la guerra a favor del asentamiento de Felipe V y la dinastía de los Borbones en el Trono de España.
A partir del siglo XVI, el castillo de Almansa, al igual que otros muchos castillos españoles, entró en un largo proceso de abandono, ya que sus principales funciones quedaron en desuso, con el lógico deterioro que esto conlleva.
En 1919 el alcalde de Almansa denunció el estado ruinoso del castillo y solicitó permiso para su demolición, pero gracias a los informes realizados por la Real Academia de la Historia y la Real academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, en contra de la petición del Ayuntamiento, el castillo de Almansa no sólo se salvó, sino que además, por Real Orden de febrero de 1921 fue declarado Monumento Histórico Artístico Nacional.
En 1952 el castillo experimentó una profunda restauración en su periferia. En el interior no reconstruido, solo quedaron unos escasos restos que permiten conjeturar su primitiva configuración. Durante las obras realizadas se descubrió una bellísima escalera de caracol que desde la torre del homenaje da acceso a la terraza superior de dicho torreón. En 1990 se puso un marcha un proyecto de reparación y estabilización de los agrietamientos, que consistió básicamente en el cosido de los estratos rocosos, mediante la colocación de anclajes y recalce de las murallas con inyecciones de cemento. Se colocaron diez vigas-contrafuertes para la recogida de las cabezas de los anclajes, que se pueden apreciar en el flanco oriental.
Descripción
Se asienta sobre un montículo rocoso que dificulta su acceso. Su forma es rectangular y se divide en dos recintos a distintas alturas alturas. En la parte más elevada, hay una muralla rematada en almenas y, en la parte más baja, hay torreones. En la zona de mayor altura del recinto, se localiza la torre del homenaje que es de grandes dimensiones y que se encuentra rematada en almenas.
El recinto inferior del castillo posee dos puertas de acceso. la puerta del lado oeste, por la que se entraba a pie y a caballo a través de su imponente barbacana, es la que se utiliza actualmente. Atravesando el patio de armas se encuentra la puerta del lado este, por la que se accedía con carros y carruajes.
La torre del homenaje es la parte más destacada de todo el edificio, y se encuentra jalonando la muralla en la parte más alta del recinto. Su planta es rectangular y la entrada se encuentra en alto, para hacer el acceso más difícil. La torre tieve escasos vanos y está rematada por almenas para su defensa. En la parte superior de la torre hay una terraza almenada a la que se accede por una escalera de caracol tallada en la roca, con elementos de cantería, y que está considerada una maravilla dentro del gótico de la zona.
Entre las partes defensivas del castillo destaca la muralla, que se extiende a lo largo del cerro sobre el que se asienta. Su monótona estructura se rompe con las torres semicirculares de sus esquinas, que tienen una barbacana defensiva para su acceso. Como el resto de la construcción, toda la estructura esta rematada con almenas piramidales.
Materiales
El castillo está construido en piedra. En los lienzos o muros, se utiliza el sillarejo, es decir, piedra poco trabajada. Y, en las esquinas de las torres, se utiliza el sillar, es decir, piedra labrada en su totalidad. En las partes hechas en época musulmana, se utilizó el tapial.
Estado de conservación
El estado del edificio es bueno pues en el siglo XX se iniciaron las labores de restauración (1952 y 1990). Hoy en día, se ha acondicionado para la visita de los turistas.
Propiedad y uso
Es propiedad del Ayuntamiento de Almansa, y su destino es turístico.
Visitas
Es un lugar muy frecuentado por los turistas interesados en nuestro patrimonio artístico, y permanece abierto todos los días excepto los martes.

One of the advantages of reposting shots of churches elsewhere, has shown me those I did not do well and would have to go back to.
One of the most significant ones was Upper Hardres, pronounced Hards, where half the shots in the album are of the rather fabulous porch.
So, here I was this morning, trying to get inside.
Key can be found at (name) farm. Only no directions as to where the farm might be.
So after checking nearby, I went to the car to cruise the mean streets of Upper Hardres, until I found the farm in question.
I had tried calling, but poor reception meant calls could not connect.
Anyway, I went to the farm door, rang the bell, and a very nice lady said she was going to the church anyway, to clean the brasses.
Win!
So, I met her outside the porch, and once inside I left her polishing the lectern, while I went round to get my shots.
Very nice glass, although mostly fragments, and in the east window 14th century glass from Stelling when they went all nonconformist.
Several fine memorials and some very old brasses too, but the oldest is hidden, but a rubbing can be seen.

Drastically damaged in a fire in 1972, the church has been restored. Built as is usual in this part of the county of flint with ragstone dressings, its stands on a plateau between two steep valleys. The tower stands on the south of the church, with only a plain parapet to distinguish its otherwise defensive appearance. The east wall has a pair of thirteenth century lancet windows – tall and deeply splayed internally, which contain some outstanding 14th century glass, restored in the last century by Canterbury Cathedral glaziers. There are also come interesting monuments in the church. The brass to a former priest here, John Strete, dates from the early fifteenth century and depicts him kneeling in prayer. The prayer is carried up on a scroll to St Peter and St Paul, patrons saints of the church. In the chancel is a large monument in alabaster to Thomas Hamon (d 1684). It has to be said that it is not one of the county`s better monuments of the period. However in the south aisle is something altogether finer – a memorial to the last baronet of the Hardres family, Sir William, who died in 1764. This fine architectural tablet has in its pediment a portrait medallion of the deceased. The inscription describes him as `just, benevolent and charitable`.

UPPER HARDRES
OR Hardes, as it is usually pronounced, written formerly Great, and High Hardres, and sometimes Much Hardres, lies the next parish south-eastward from Lower Hardres. The greatest part of it in the upper half hundred of Bridge, but there is a small part, on the eastern side, in the hundred of Loningborough, which is within the manor of Eleham. There is only one borough in this parish, viz. that of Upper Hardres.
THE PARISH is a very lonely and unfrequented place, situated on high ground among the hills, having large tracts of woodland on each side of it. The Stonestreet way runs along the valley, near the western boundary of it; the soil of it is very poor, consisting mostly of either chalk, or a hungry red earth, covered with sharp slint stones. Hardres-court stands on high ground, a most retired and sorlorn situation, and for some years past an almost deserted habitation; near it is the church and parsonage. There is no village, but at some distance further, near Stelling and the Minnis, there is a hamlet of cottages called Bossingham.
THE MANOR OF UPPER HARDRES, written in Domesday as it is now pronounced, Hardes, was at the time of taking that survey, in 1080, part of the possessions of Odo, bishop of Baieux, under the title of whose lands it is thus entered in it:
The bishop of Baieux himself holds in demesne Hardes. It was taxed at two sulings. The arable land is four carucates. In demesne there is one, and nine villeins with two carucates. There is a church and five servants. Wood for the pannage of twenty bogs. In the time of king Edward the Consessor it was worth seven pounds, and afterwards one hundred shillings, now seven pounds, and yet it pays ten pounds. Eduin held it of king Edward.
Four years after which, the bishop was disgraced, and all his estates consiscated. After which the seignory or see paramount of this manor was granted to Rich. Fitz-Gilbert, whose descendants took the name of Clare, and became earls of Gloucester and Hertford. Of them the manor of Hardres was again held by a family who assumed their surname from it; for in the record quoted by Somner as Domesday, Robert de Hardes is said to have then held land of the archbishop, as of his manor of Liminge, and probably, therefore, resided here as early as the year 1080, the 15th of the Conqueror's reign. His descendants bore for their arms, Gules, a lion rampant, ermine, debruised with a chevron, or, in token of their holding this manor by knight's service, of the castle of Tunbridge, which was the antient seignory of the Clares, earls of Gloucester; these being an allusion to their arms, which were Or, three chevrons, gules; (fn. 1) and they continued the possessors of this manor, and to reside here, down to Thomas Hardres, for so the name was then, and had been for a long time written. He was with king Henry VIII. at the siege of Bullein, in France, and for his service there was permitted to bring from thence the gates of that city, which still remain at Hardres-court, in the garden wall, opposite the church; and the king on his return lay here two nights, and as a further mark of his favour, left his dagger, which was very lately preserved in the house. He died in 1556, holding this manor in capite by knight's service, whose lands were disgavelled by the act of 31 Henry VIII. His two sons dying both s.p. this manor came to his brother Richard Hardres, who afterwards resided here, where he kept his shrievalty in the 30th year of Elizabeth, whose son Sir Thomas Hardres married Eleanor, daughter and heir of Henry Thoresby, esq. master in chancery, by whom he had Richard, his successor here; Thoresby, who left issue; Peter, D. D. prebendary of Canterbury, and Sir Thomas, king's sergeant-at-law, ancestor of John Hardres, of Canterbury, M. P. for that city in several parliaments of queen Anne's, and in George I.'s reigns, whose two daughters and coheirs, Martha and Pledwell, both lately died unmarried there, which branch bore the arms without the chevron. Richard Hardres, esq. the eldest son of Sir Thomas, was first knighted, and afterwards made a baronet in 1642, in whose descendants, baronets and residents at Hardrescourt, this manor continued down to Sir William Hardres, bart. who died possessed of it, s.p. in 1764, and by his will devised it to his widow Frances, one of the daughters and coheirs of John Corbet, esq. of Salop, on whose death intestate in 1783, it became vested in her heirs, who were her four sisters and their representatives, in like manner as has been already fully mentioned before, under Stelling, and they are in manner as is there mentioned, at this time jointly entitled, in undivided shares, to the possession of this manor and seat. A court baron is held for this manor.
THE MANOR OF LINSORE, alias LINCHESOER, lies in the south-east part of this parish, in a deep vale, called from it Linsey-bottom, enveloped with woods on the rising hills on each side of it. It was given by Æthelwulf, king of the West Saxons, by the name of the land called Licesora, to Winhere, abbot of St. Augustine's, for seventy marcs in money. (fn. 2) Before the taking the survey of Domesday, it was granted away by one of the abbots, in fee-ferme, by which it was held by R. Clifford, of the abbot. After which, in king Richard the IId.'s reign, it was held in like manner by the family of Garwinton, whence it was sold to Clarke, and at the beginning of Henry VIII. was alienated by Hugh Clark to Thomas Beal, gent. of Canterbury, and he, anno 7 of that reign, vested it in feoffees, who sold it to William Brent, of Wilsborough, whose son Robert Brent, esq. of that place, dying s.p. anno 12 Elizabeth, devised it by will to Thomas Brent, of Charing, and he dying s.p. likewise in 1612, gave this manor by his will to his nephew Richard Dering, esq. of Pluckley, son of Margaret his sister, by John Dering, esq. late of Surrenden, in whose descendants it continued till king Charles I.'s reign, when Sir Edward Dering, bart. became possessed of it, at which time he describes it as having no mansion belonging to it; that there were the foundations of an old chapel in the middle of Lynsore wood, called then Sir Thomas Garwinton's chapel; that it was reported to have been all plain ground, till the contests between the houses of York and Lancaster, when the country being drained of its inhabitants, no one was left to till the ground, and it became wood, and so remained at that time. He sold it to William Young, yeoman, of Goceston, in whose descendants it remained till Mr. Peter Young, gent. of Ashford, dying about the year 1787, his only daughter and heir entitled her husband the Rev. Edward Norwood, to the possession of it, and he is the present owner of it.
There are no parochial charities; but Mrs. Denward, of Hardres-court, has, at her own expence, within these few years, built and endowed a free school in this parish, for the teaching of the children of it to read and write. The poor constantly relieved are about ten, casually as many.
THIS PARISH is within the ECCLESIASTICAL JURISDICTION of the diocese of Canterbury, and deanry of Bridge.
The church, which is dedicated to St. Peter and St. Paul, consists of two isles and two chancels, having a low flat tower on the south side, in which are three bells. The church is small, and seems antient. In the high chancel, which is as long as the church, is the burial place of the family of Hardres, where are several monuments and gravestones, some with brasses for them. A monument for David Jones, A.M. another, with the figure of a man lying at full length, for Thomas Hamon, youngest son of William, of Acrise, obt. 1651. A stone, with figures, inscription, and ornaments in brass, for John Strete, once rector, ob. 1404. In the south chancel a monument and several gravestones, most of which have brasses, for the Hardres's. In several of the windows are remains of painted glass, but all much defaced. In the east window of the high chancel there were, within these few years, the arms of Clare, Or, three chevrons, gules. In the south part of the church-yard is a tomb for George Sherwin, gent. obt. 1675; arms, A pelican wounding its breast. The church is kept very neat and clean, and has been lately repaired and beautified, at the expence of Mrs. Denward, of Hardres-court. When the altar was raised and new-paved, the gravestones were removed, which had once figures and inscriptions in brass, which had been all long since gone, but were probably for some of the family of Hardres. The rest of the chancel is paved with small square tiles, coloured red and yellow.
¶The church of Upper Hardres, with the chapel of Stelling annexed, seems to have continued in the patronage of the lords of the seignory of the manor, long after the manor itself had been granted away by them; for it appears by the inquisition taken after the death of Hugh de Audley, earl of Gloucester, anno 21 Edward III. that he died possessed of sixpence annual rent in Hardres, together with the advowson of this church, by which rent it must be understood, that this rectory was then esteemed a manor; and a like inquisition was found after the death of Edmund, earl of Stafford, lord likewise of this seignory, anno 4 king Henry IV. Not long after which, the patronage of it became vested in the Hardres family, since which it has continued in the same owners as the manor of Upper Hardres, and is now, with it, the property of the heirs of lady Hardres, deceased, being her four sisters, or their representatives, as has been more fully mentioned before.
It is valued in the king's books, with the chapel of Stelling, at 19l. 13s. 1½d. and the yearly tenths at 1l. 19s. 3¼d. (fn. 3) In 1588 it was valued at seventy-seven pounds, communicants one hundred. In 1640 at ninety pounds, and the like number of communicants.
William Durrant, rector of this church anno 1549, purchased fifteen acres of land in this parish, which were conveyed to trustees for his use, and his successors, rectors of this church.
Peter Hardres, D. D. by his will in 1678, devised to his nephew Thomas Hardres, clerk, his study of books, with a desire that he would leave the same to the person who should succeed him in the parsonage of Great Hardres, in case his said nephew should succeed him in it, and so successively to the rector of this church for the time being.

I checked at the Recorders Office. Beunter bought the property from the Manheim Realty & Investment Company (they platted and developed the subdivision in 1908). The warranty deed is dated June 27, 1911.
I also checked if Emmet Gamble bought any lots in the subdivision. He bought Lot 8, Block 5 of Squier Manor from the Manheim Investment company in 1910. This lot is currently 1314 Manheim. He sold the property to KC Trust Co. in 1914 and bought the property back in 1915. The house on that lot dates to 1935. I am getting the impression that the house was designed by never built. I need to check the water permits to confirm some information though.

SAVANNAH, Ga.--Eighteen Savannah State University students tested their abilities to identify wetlands during a field exercise hosted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Savannah District, May 16, 2013. Regulatory specialists with the Corps explained the wetland permitting process and how to identify types of wetlands based on soil conditions and plant growth. The session was part of Savannah State’s PRISM program—Proactive Recruitment for Introductory Science and Mathematics. The program aims to increase the number of freshmen and sophomore students majoring in math and science disciplines at SSU and support them through graduation and to successful entry into graduate school or professional careers. The Corps has an ongoing partnership with the university to contribute to outreach and education activities related to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). The Corps’ Savannah District manages wetlands permits under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act for any projects affecting U.S. waters within the state of Georgia.
