In stop, Repair, Prepare: Variations on "Ode to Joy" for a Prepared Piano (2008), Jennifer Allora (American, born 1971) and Guillermo Calzadilla (Cuban born, 1971) combine the mediums of performance art and sculpture. A Pianist emerges throught a hole carved in a grand piano to play the fourth movement of Ludwig von Bethoveen`s famous ninth symphony of 1824 (widely known as "Ode to Joy") while making aroung the Atrium.
By modifying the instrument, the artist have fundamentally changed the dynamic between pianist and instrument; leaning very far forward, the performer must read the keyboard upsidedown and backward. Furtermore the hole renders two octaves of holes inoperative, The result is a structurally incomplete version of the signature melody , played with great efford - a contradictory and ambiguous performance of a song that gas long been invoked as a symbol of humanist values and national pride.

it was taken at a very special street performance or maybe rather a beach performance on Bat-yam beach, israel. very powerfull performance of a local theatre group. the costumes and the props and the stage design was made by the director Svetlana and her actors.
In celebration of our 50th year, renowned classical guitarist Peter Fletcher joined us a second time this year for an outstanding performance and was enjoyed by a standing-room-only crowd!

En cienfuegos el pasado lunes en conmemoración de haber sido electo Nicolás Maduro como presidente de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela, el artista cienfueguero Abel Igor Basulto practicó este estilo y para esta ocasión reflejó los colores de la bandera de la hermana nación en el cuerpo de una joven. Performance ritualística calcada nas experiências pessoais do artista.
Descrição
Entro nu apenas de saia branca de algodão cru, monto uma espécie de altar com 6 colchonetes, sendo 2 pilhas de 3, uma ao lado da outra; após coloco um tapume por cima e cubro tudo com cuidado com um lençol claro; saio de cena e volto varias vezes de cena com cada item que ira compor a performance; primeiro com um vazo cheio de flores e coloco ao lado de fora o altar; segundo, uma bolsa pesada que carrego com cuidado ponho ao chão, tiro de dentro uma pedra bem grande pintada de vermelho cujo seu formato lembra um coração, ao tirar a pedra, faço isso de forma bem cuidadosa e coloco-a de frente para o altar; respiro fundo e sento sobre a pedra diante do altar e colho uma flor ao lado e aprecio-a com todo amor e carinho possível; após apreciar, sentir e amar a flor jogo-a ao centro do altar e repito o ato mais 3 vezes; após a 4ª flor “dispensada”, respiro fundo, levanto bruscamente, pego a pedra e jogo com força sobre as flores no altar, fazendo um barulho bem alto.
Significados
•A performance teve como motivação os meus relacionamentos pessoais;
•O altar é um espaço sacro para o homem, colocamos sobre ele as coisas importantes e veneradas, coisas valiosas – sacras/santas/divinas;
•O vaso de flores representa as mulheres, as que eu “colhi” são as garotas que namorei;
•A pedra é meu coração (amor), que pesado de tanto sofrimento por paixões, decidi acabar com tudo;
•A bolsa é onde guardamos coisas boas e úteis para nós, as quais não queremos perder;
•O nu porque nos mostra limpos, sem armas, amostra, frágil, exposto;
•A saia de algodão cru é uma vestimenta muito antiga, leve, clara, ritualística, simples, esconde, mas não esconde, apenas cria um suspense, é pura – algodão cru.
Estes são os símbolos que tentei representar através das peças/objetos.
Intenções
Mostrar que o amor (paixão) entre dois é insuficiente; que o amor está alem do relacionamento a dois, alem do homem-mulher, alem de nós; sentimento puro.
Impressões/Sensações
Gostei muito, acho que atingi o que eu esperava, impactante – por se tratar de minha primeira performance, achei que conclui com êxito. Gostei das diversas interpretações que não fugiram muito do contexto.
A sensação da performance foi de um grande alivio ao mesmo tempo de um profundo respeito e amor pelas as pessoas que me relacionei.

not the Mona Lisa but a Yorkshireman doing a bit of street performing or whatever its called. Presumably its not classed as busking because hes not playing anything?
It was pretty amusing, I must say - a bit like Keith Lemon with a frame round.
Beautiful night I will never forget at the sculptoric space, where I've been working during six months. To close such activity, I made a performance,helped by some local actors, musicians and five hundred candles inside many diferent recipients. The Midsummer Night's Dream as the outlook of The Lord of the Rings, near the river with my family and some friends.

Per tancar l'activitat artística que he dut a terme en aquesta llera del riu Ter, a l'anomenat Passeig dels aurons, he realitzat amb l'ajut d'alguns membres dels diables de Ripoll una vetllada nocturna amb centenars d'espelmes i una Performance escènica plena de llum i color, sota el nom de: SOMNI D'UNA NIT D'ESTIU.
