For all the portrait photographers, we have created a new community, that we hope will bring a lot of fans to everyone who is feachured in it! It's as a Facebook page, and we had a pretty good start!
I would be happy to see some good portrait photography from some of my Flickr contacts there, feel free to check it out when you have time!
I'm really gonna try to make this page so popular, that being featured there would mean something!

Looking forward to eeing you there!
Cheers!
This is Eastern Tiger Swallowtail butterfly and very common during summer. Is easy to spot one but not easy to have capture one with an unbroken and beautiful wing such as this. I seldom use Tv setting with my camera as I normally take landscape and nature shots. With this active bug, I needed to try different technique. Hate to say that this is not perfect with the flower shade on the bottom right corner.
this beautiful flower was captured at the Henry Vilas Zoo located in Madison, Wisconsin; 092411. the fall weather was just perfect...and the flowers in this garden reflected that!

I saw this perfect wisteria vine in full bloom on a Victorian on Webster St. in San Francisco.
I took the photo with my Palm Pre.
This fits perfectly on the Pre if you want to use it as Wallpaper, feel free.
The Crested Caracara is part of the falcon family, but it's more like a vulture, often feeding on carrion, but not averse to hunting live small animals as well. I've seen a couple of them in Florida, but never in prime photo conditions.
Yesterday in Texas, the winds were coming from the southeast this morning, which put them at my back with the sun. Birds often (always?) take off into the wind, so the conditions were perfect for a flight shot. I saw the bird shift on its perch and was ready when it launched into the air.

No, this isn't an interpretive dance class, this is bocce up at the Lawn Club.
Pretty sure that most of the people who were playing didn't play bocce at home, much less know the word before coming aboard.
There was some spirited competition, as in fueled by liquid spirits. The Lawn Club Bar was the designated time out spot during game breaks.
June 25, 2007. Perhaps one of the most perfect webs I've seen.
The silver strands that form the net
Are beaded with the stars of night
Lie jewelled dewdrops that adorn
A spiderweb in morning light.

Haven't gotten a shot that I've really liked in a long time. I shot this westbound sand train at Emerson, Iowa on a highway bridge. Perfect light, nice scenery and of course, the train.

perfect hat for fotography, providing shadow during focussing - seen in the nice but touristy village of Alberobello in Southern Italy.

My perfect egg has no runny whites and a yolk that is on the brink of setting, but hasn't yet. A pinch of flakey sea salt, a few cranks of the pepper mill, a small silver spoon, and a chipped porcelain egg cup. That's all I need.
Have a timer set for six minutes but do not start it. Fill a small but deep-sided saucepan with about four inches of water. Bring it to a boil then lower the heat so that the water simmers gently. Lower in the egg. Start the timer. After six minutes remove the egg and run it under a cold tap for 15 second. Place in an egg cup and slice off the top third. Season with salt and pepper.
most of you will know that these are my fave birds!
