Pentre Ifan is a Neolithic burial chamber (approx 5k years old). It has a 5m (16' 6")‘capstone’ appearing to be precariously balanced on three ‘uprights’.
On a gloomy day it carries a really heavy atmosphere pointing back to an uncertain past raising darkquestions best left unuttered.
As can be seen in the picture it was a cloudy afternoon with mist on the surrounding hills. I wanted to convey the atmosphere of the place (there are plenty of nice sunny tourist pictures) so adopted a Film Noir style.

This was another development experiment. I tried Perceptol but found it a bit flat with very little detail in the shadows. So, I thought I'd spicve it up. Im surprised by how well the negs have come out. I will definitely use this combination again.

I thought I came here to rest
Spring tide with a New Moon
I could here the laughter and signing
In the cosy Lawrenney Arms
Another Golden hour
Another Blue hour
I loved them once
So many passed, I've lost count
The night comes
and I long for the day
The day comes
and I long for the night
So many passed, I've lost count
Another New Moon
Waxing to Full
I loved them once
So many passed, I've lost count
Spring with its flowers
Summer with its heat
The golden leaves of Autumn
And the cold winter storms
So many passed, I've lost count
A new season comes
and I long for the next
I thought I came here to rest
But, there's no rest here
I've rested for too long.

.
This 2022 summer at last I was able to visit England again. Since 2014, my last visit, looks far away, as quite relevant news have happened meanwhile, most notably the Brexit and the coronavirus pandemic.
Well, now I'm back and with several cameras, from a Nikon Z6 digital mirrorless... to several film camera. You will see.
The fog thickened and thinned in waves, and all the while the fog horns moaned in the background... as they had done all night.

There's something special about the moring light. Though the physics may be replicated (at times) in the evening, it's not quite the same as the morning. Probably more to do with circadian rhythms and psychology than anything else.

My first use of a slow film on medium format. I've used PAN F on 35mm before, but never found it that good, too contrasty and more grain than expected. However, this time I tried rating at ISO 25 and processed in more dilute Perceptol. This result is much better, smoother tonality and virtually no grain. It looks as though it could out-resolve my 24MP digital camera.
Also used the pixl-latr 120 rebate mask for the first time.
