I thought that was what he was trying to convey :))
My squirrels are back, but am yet to go and get them peanuts, for now they survive on whatever nuts I have on hand (almonds :) Cashews (which they dont care for as much, as I discovered).
This is "Shanku" begging for peanuts :) I will go get them by afternoon for sure.
Enjoy your day!!
Because I only had one full day in New York I took back to back Hop On Hop Off Buses. Some of the images are not very good as the bus would go over bumps etc,.I have kept them in as memorises of the day. I only got off the bus once so most of the photos were taken as we were travelling along. Sadly I just didn't have time to have a good walk around.
I woke to a lovely sunny day and not too cold with around 16c. As the day went on it clouded over a bit and cooled down. November 7, 2018 USA.
Brooke (my daughter) got me this wonderful Hallmark ornament for Christmas. I collect all things "Peanuts" (Charlie Brown is my favorite) and I just LOVE this little thing. It's adorable. :)
Not the best shot I've ever taken lol....but I just love the look on Alvin's face and the cheek crammed right full of the Blue Jay's peanuts :)...have a good one everyone!

Researchers at Pennsylvania State University conducted a study on the benefits of peanut consumption and found that those who consumed a greater amount of peanuts had about a 35 percent reduced risk of coronary heart disease. this effect is a result of the peanuts’ ability to lower cholesterol and its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory components.
I drove to Kentucky to watch the Florida-LSU game with a good friend. I was close to his house when I saw this and I just have to stop for a scene like this. I really don't know why, but I just can't pass them up. As for the game....Peanuts!

E_Mural Cotton Peanut
Shot from each direction merged into one. Note the boll weevil in the middle and the cotton and peanuts on either end.
Back around 1918 farmers in this area were losing whole cotton crops to the bollweevil. Local agribusiness folks decided to try growing peanuts which became very profitable, hence the erecting of a monument to the bollweevil. Now with the loss of the US government peanut support program and internationalized business, peanuts are not very profitable any more. So, with better farming techniques, cotton has made it's way back to the local farms. Recently a mural was painted on a downtown building adjacent to the Bollweevil Monument. It recognizes both cotton and peanuts....though peanuts are fading fast. If interested, see the following wiki for the Bollweevil Monument.
Here's a Snoopy bank that seems to actually have its manufacture date on it (1970) in addition to the copyright date of the character, 1958 (which people on eBay always seem to confuse on all Peanuts merchandise). It's in surprisingly good condition, but was unpriced. I left it there for someone else to find. Usually with something like this, if I don't want it, I hurl it to the floor to destroy it so no one else can have it, either. But I was feeling charitable that day. You're welcome, collector of vintage but not particularly rare Peanuts memorabilia!
The cubs did get some peanuts this time, not a great setting but it kept raining so I couldn't have the light outside on the lawn. It seems quite peaceful at the start and then all hell breaks loose, they can be rather noisy, to say the least. And these are only three of at least eight badgers ! My dad came in at the end and scared them, I didn't say anything given that he's pretty much allowed his garden to become a badger playground : ) I'd normally spread the nuts out more but it always ends in chaos whatever you do, as I've said before fighting like this is pretty normal for badgers, they have thick skin on their necks and rumps which are the areas they normally go for. A proper fight between two big boars though must make the earth shake ! Obviously badgers and foxes can't retract their claws so they make quite a loud noise when they walk on a hard surface, which I think you can hear.
You might want to set it to HD and view large : )
Picked up these “Date Books” by Determined Productions last year. Most feature phototype revivals of wood type, as was popular in the 1960s–70s. I also have a bunch of their small square cookbooks and Peanuts books. Will post soon.

That's how I'm feeling about the baby Red Squirrels, and that's how they're feeling about the peanuts!

Nice crop of peanuts. This has long been a peanut producing area. However, weather and the changing world economy plus serious reductions in the US Federal Peanut program has many fields not planted this year.
Years ago, this area changed from primarily cotton crops to peanuts because of the boll weevil. Now, cotton is making a comeback due to better control of the boll weevil and general agricultural economy considerations.

My wife planted peanuts in her garden this year. Here is the first batch of peanuts she picked. She soaked them in brine, and is planning to oven roast them.

I'll get back to pictures from my recent hike along the Eno, but I thought I'd break things up with a picture or two from the Farmer's Market this weekend.

Jays love peanuts and can carry them away as fast as we put them out so we like to make them work a bit to get them and enjoy the show they put on even though it doesn't last very long. They can empty this feeder in about half an hour.
Playing with peanuts at the Long Bar in the Makati Raffles Hotel in the Philippines. Shot with Sony NEX7 and a Canon 50mm f/1.8 Leica mount rangefinder lens from the 1960's. I love the classic look that this lens gives with wide-open shots, especially with people.
