A calade is a Provençal term for area paved with small tightly packed stones, usually taken from fields or the banks of streams, and sometimes arranged in patterns. Calades are almost always built on a slope to facilitate the run-off of water.
Here a rose arch has been built above a calade arranged into a series of steps.
I arrived too late to catch the tide at the right place for this classic shot, so I had to improvise. This group of rocks were covered in almost fluorescent green weed and I thought they would make up for the lack of water that I had originally planned for.

It is situated in the middle of Rundle Mall -- the main city shopping mall, with wide paved street filled with trees, lamp posts, benches, buskers, and the occassional bike trailer selling food.

at the end of paved road in southeast utah, natural bridges national monument was a 'what the hell' stop on the way to somewhere else
from the no-charge entry that day to practically no crowds, it was a helluva nice day to be alive
this image started out as a series of exposures that ended up going into the tonemapping software, even though it is present in my camera...old dogs, you know...it turned out okay but i wanted to soften the often jarring obviousness of the mapping
the title also comes from these last few days of dog-sitting my daughter's 3 month old rescue puppy, a border collie cross from a reservation and an absolute sweetheart

A paved scenic drive takes visitors to all of the major viewpoints within the park; however, one of the more rewarding ways to see the park is on foot. We opted for a hike to see a maze of rock fins, arches and cracks. It was not the best day for walking as there was storm coming in, yet well worth the effort to capture the drama in the sky.
Paver, c'est paver.

On the paved bed of the old railway "The Bels Line" (Dutch: Bels Lijntje) we cycle from Baarle Nassau in the Netherlands to Turnhout in Belgium.
We cycle through the old railway line by nature, unfortunately, it starts to rain on the way, but fortunately we are near the watchtower at nature reserve Little Klotteraard where we can hide for the rain.
If the weather is dry, we climb up the tower and have this amazing view!
Bels Lijntje is the name of Railway 29 between Tilburg and Turnhout which was constructed in 1865 .
In 1989, on the old bed built a bike path from Tilburg to Turnhout with a length of 31 kilometer.
☛ This is what we saw during our Bicycle tours in the Netherlands, where we have cycled through the beautiful landscape.

I really like trails with an S-bend in them.

A photo taken from a cafe on the riverside street over a can of Angkor Beer. Rejuvenation of Kampot seems to be on track finally, but it was a long way. The mountain in the upper right is a slope of Phnom Bokor or Bokor Mountain, on which ruins of a French hill station and a Chinese-run casino hotel are located.
Khmer Rouge was ousted from Phnom Penh and major cities including Kampot by the Vietnamese invasion in 1979. Pro-Vietnamese Heng Samrin (1934 -) administration was installed, and the country was renamed to Peoples’ Republic of Kampuchea.
Hun Sen (1952 -), who speak Vietnamese fluently, had been Prime Minister from 1985 to 1993 under the Hen Samrin administration.
The Vietnamese troop withdrew from Cambodia in 1989, and the United Nations intermediated the peace process that was completed by the election in 1993. Based on the result of election, Sihanouk's son, Norodom Ranariddh (1944 - 2021) became First Prime Minister with Hun Sen as Second Prime Minister. The country was renamed back to Kingdom of Cambodia in 1993 by restoring Norodom Sihanouk as King of the constitutional monarchy.
Hun Sen was not happy with the UN ruling and staged a coup in 1997 to dismantled Ranariddh and came back as Prime Minister in 1998.
Khmer Rouge finally surrendered in 1999 near Preah Vihear, which finally paved the way for Cambodia to concentrate on economic development.
Nufenen Pass (Italian: Passo della Novena, German: Nufenenpass) (el. 2478 m.) is the second highest mountain pass with a paved road within Switzerland - after Umbrailpass. It lies between the summits of Pizzo Gallina (north) and the Nufenestock (south).
The pass road from Ulrichen in canton of Valais leads to the Bedretto valley in the canton of Ticino, linking Brig to Airolo. It is not the lowest pass between the two valleys, as it is located one kilometre north of a slightly lower unnamed pass at 2,440 metres, which is traversed by a trail.
The pass is of relatively recent construction, having been opened to traffic only since September 1969.
To the east of the top of the pass is the source of the Ticino River. Towards the north is a spectacular view of the Bernese Alps, notably the Finsteraarhorn while there is a view over the Gries Glacier to the south.

This is Stradun, the beautiful and well-trodden limestone-paved main street which runs the length of Dubrovnik’s Old Town. It’s been pedestrianised for some 50 years now and is all the better for that. It’s stuffed with cafés, bars and tourist shops.
Stradun has been the city's main thoroughfare since the 13th century, and its present appearance dates from 1667, the year of the devastating earthquake in which most of the buildings in Ragusa (as Dubrovnik was then called) were destroyed.
Mt Rae looms large ahead as one climbs toward the highest paved pass in Canada.
Highwood Pass summit is 7239 feet (2206 m). The pass is closed each year from December to June 15 to protect wildlife.
This impressive scenic highway (40) is also known as the Bighorn Highway and the Kananaskis Trail.

I have been picking up biking back in March, and areas like these are what motivate me to bike even more. Really enjoy the scenery, and I can't wait for it to start blooming more outside!
They paved paradise, they put up a parking lot
A pink hotel, a boutique and a swinging hot spot
Don't it always go to show
You never know what you got till it's gone ?

They took all the trees, they put them in a tree museum
They charged the people a dollar and a half just to see them
Don't it always go to show
You never know what you got till it's gone ?

Late last night I heard my screen door slam
A big yellow taxi took away my old man

Continuing with another image from my Colorado trip... This particular time, up Country Road 5 and hiking up to an Aspen grove. I knew I had to shoot this road scene as soon as I saw it. I tried with a 70-200...but it just didn't have the look I wanted, so...a first for me, I pulled out my Bower (Rokinon) 14mm to try a WIDE shot. I can't recall what f-stop I shot it at, but I took 6 shots at different focusing spots to focus stack them in PS. Since I haven't really been able to get out locally for Fall, I'm heading up to the Boone/Blowing Rock area tomorrow evening after work for a couple days. The weather looks to be turning a bit nasty up there tomorrow, but I'm hoping the leaves hang on. Hope everyone's having a great week!
