The Huss house got a nice spruce up with new curbs and street. It had just been paved before I went by and you can even see the footprints of the first person to walk on the road.
Paved bikeway is marked with the NCT signs here. It leads through Marquette's downtown next to the lakeshore past harbors museums parks playgrounds etc. Marquette is the biggest city in Upper Peninsula. There is a push for economical development here and a big power plant. I hope that the city would not reach the size of Chicago in my or yours lifetime. People do not come here to see the Statue of Liberty yet.
Two flagstone-paved streets called Sannen-zaka ("three-year slope") and Ninenzake ("two-year slope") are a preservation district. Local lore maintains that a slip here will bring two or three years' bad luck.
