This was the last patch to receive and it came from the patch swap organizer herself! Rectangel did an amazing job and I absolutely love her! She is going to be framed and hung in our kitchen... unless my husband ever gets around to building his projector. Then it's going in the "snack bar" section of our home theater!

Terri Clavon, 3rd CAB command sergeant major, visited with Soldiers of Task Force Marauder at Fort Hood, Texas Sept. 18, 2017 to brief leaders as they prepare for the deployment and conduct a patch ceremony where TF Marauder members took on the 3rd Infantry Division patch. Task Force Marauder, which is aligned under the 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade for deployment, is composed of Soldiers from the South Carolina National Guard, Pennsylvania National Guard, Illinois National Guard, and Iowa National Guard and provides aviation capabilities with AH-64 Apaches, UH-60 Black Hawks, and CH-47 Chinooks. This was for my "life on the street" assignment for class. My friend James (flickr member: jiaf) and I went looking for some homeless for my assignment. First day was a dud when we were looking downtown, it was too cold and the homeless were hiding in a warm place, we didn't know where that was though. Day two, I look out my window and it dawns on me, how about the bottle depot right behind my house? It's amazing how easily these things escape you. Anywho, found Patch down the alley from the bottle depot.
I asked him to draw what he thought life on the street was like, and here is his creation. Kinda Donnie Darko-esque, a little scary too. I payed him 10$ for his work and James gave him a pair of socks.
The village of Temple in Midlothian is where the Knights Templar held their primary and principal Preceptory in Scotland. There are some trees that might follow along lines of previous structures. There is a patch of rough ground that may one day be archaeologically be further investigated generating more detail about this site. For now there is a ruined kirk managed by TEMPLE OLD KIRK FRIENDS, please see the link below. The kirk is well worth a view, but it is not old enough to be a Templar building, there could be a reuse of stone still holding information held right now within the present structure. The stone archway pictured here is quickly photographed as I chatted of knights, of bold deeds, of traditions of yore and of the way forward we can create to reach out and to become legendary for peace making and social caring as we all make one world a safer, better and happier a place to be.
The pictures start with the arch that stands even though it is heavily worn by time. We progress away from the archway and look briefly at the significant trees standing with the stones over centuries. There are pictures that show a tree that is slowly breaking back down into the ground. There are pictures of the nearby old school that stands close to the arch. Any structure close by might have opened up and then sealed in some historic evidence. The evidence focussed upon today can be microscopic soil structure and also hue. The ground holds secrets here and one day further archaeological excavation might open up new details. Til then we have the archway behind the old school and our imagination.
From this spot you can look out to the ports of Edinburgh, to the Firth of Forth and across to Fife. This place stands secure once within it’s own sovereignty. The inspirational stories of old seem to have a fine place here to reside.

2001-2007. From 2001 to 2002, I participated in a 9 patch block exchange with other quilters from around the world via rec.crafts.textiles.quilting. Every month a new color was selected and we each made enough 9 patch blocks for everyone on the list and then exchanged them. Then everyone received a whole bunch of different blocks. The finished squares were supposed to be 2" square, with the finished block being 6" x 6" when sewn into a quilt.
This large bedspread-sized quilt used most of the 9 patch blocks as well as many of my own. I machine pieced and machine quilted it, with a black binding and red cotton patterned backing. The machine quilting is in 4" x 4" squares. Cannot remember if I went back and made them 2" x 2".

In 2009 I didn't buy any clothes (apart from underwear, and those can be counted on 3 fingers). So I am amazed that I kept last years resolution, but also sad that I didn't manage the other half of resolution, which was to make my clothes...only made 1 scaft & 1 dress. Oh well, lets see what happens in 2010.

First Great Western 43172 'Harry Patch' at Torquay with the (1A82) 11.32 Paignton-London Paddington. The loco was named after the last survivor of the trenches and for me is the best of special livery HST power cars to date.
