Pumpkin Patch

Maple Ridge, BC

Canada

This October scene caught my eye.

A young boy stops his bike overlooking the Pumpkin Farm.

Meanwhile a young lady is captured taking a photo of a pumpkin with her cell phone.

Her partner appears to be lost in thought.

Remnants of summer corn border the country property.

Thanks for viewing

I just hope people appreciate what I went through to give you this photo. Lying on my belly in wet grass in a churchyard trying to manually focus an old Helios lens is not my idea of fun. As all of us of a certain age with bad backs and rickety knees will know, it's not the getting down there, it's the getting back up again that's the tough part. Anyway I thought I'd get my crocus picture in for the year now before Flickr is inundated with them, which it most certainly will be. Much like bluebells in April there are certain subjects that we all try our luck at each year. So here's my 2021 crocus shot. I'm pretty sure it will be my last one for 2021 but never say never...

This barn appears to have been patched up many times over the years. The roof, the sides, the additions. It all makes for a unique look. The dusting of snow adds a nice touch as well!

Aspen Trees in Colorado

Selective focus on one bud on my Winter Gladioli which are providing much needed colour in the garden at the moment.

Spare a thought for Queensland again facing major flooding for the 3rd time this year. And at such a late stage in the year!

I'll be off for a couple of days so will hopefully be able to comment & respond to comments next week.

The past few years I've been wanting to capture a pumpkin patch, but I always seem to be too late in the season. This time I got it! :) The one down the road--actually in Orting--was already gone, with NOTHING left!--but this one in McMillin is still in good shape, as you can see! They must've planted just a little later.

I just love the vibrant orange of the pumpkins...and I like the barns and the past-peak trees in the background. Hope you enjoy as well!

Looking along the coast from Filey, UK

It is that time of year and the pumpkin patches are busy with families getting out to enjoy our lovely fall weather. I had to get out early yesterday to get a couple of shots before the crowds descended. Maan Farm Market, Abbotsford, B.C.

Having completed a brief stop after cresting the summit at Sand Patch, Pennsylvania, four second-generation geeps get a westbound pig train moving.

The real name before editing for this one was Rubberneck Tree. Every time there was some nice light on that main tree in the middle of the field, whilst traveling my much used A39 across Exmoor i almost crashed the Adventure Wagon on the big bends. As i don't wish to die anytime soon, i pulled over and took the shot!

Both boxcars seen here are patched for Conrail. The white one is former LV while the other is obviously former NYC (thus former Penn Central).

These are cars I weathered and patched and I'm running them on a friend's railroad for his first-ever open house.

It was just a very ordinary walk in the same Helsinki suburb surroundings, still with patches of ice here and there, but sun already was shining warmer and friendlier than a couple of weeks ago. And then behind a turn of the path opened a view over a little bay, and sunlight fell on the tops of last year dropworts in so marvelous angle that all the scene was flooded with light... I deliberately let the flare come into the photo, because it reveals the feeling from that moment like fairies would be dancing in the branches and chasing the winter away. :-)

Wheaton's parking deck was the place to be as a M-PRCB was heading for Proviso behind a patched C40-8 and a pure Chicago and North Western C44-9W.

UP eventually wiped the North Western off of the face of the Geneva Subdivision and today it is nothing but Union Pacific on the freights through here.

The Moon is rising in the soft light of sunset over the farm land of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

Unusual to find one of these this time of year and down in the desert, as they are mostly seen in hills and canyon areas. Just grateful it made its way to my backyard. A new one for me, too. Casa Grande, AZ. Sept. 2022.

Mid-winter flower kiosks offer a burst of vibrant color that acts as a natural "pick-me-up" against gray skies and snowy landscapes. Common kiosk finds like Amaryllis, Cyclamen, and Pansies symbolize resilience and hope, reminding us that life continues to bloom even in the harshest seasons.

I am grateful for your continued support and appreciate every view, fave, and comment!
