Being a teen mom can range from one extreme to another. Some are so lucky to be able to support their baby with the help of their parents and friends. But some aren't so lucky and have to do everything themselves. Their lives are probably not enjoyable and they probably barely find any time for themselves. But the lucky ones should not take advantage of the opportunities that they have. If they have parents willing to pay for a majority of what alot of other people work hard for, then they should use that time for school and get a part time job. That way they can be able to support themselves on their own in the future and remain happy. There is no need for them to become lazy and do nothing with their lives if they don't have to do everything themselves. They should make the most of their lives because they are still very young and have so much potential for the future. Having a baby as a teen must be a very hard thing and very stressful, which is why everyone should always use protection if they are not planning on having a baby. This will save anyone from a lifetime of responsibility that they may not be ready for.

Secretary Landgraf joined individuals with disabilities, their parents and providers for a panel discussion on how to advance employment and post-secondary education for young people with disabilities at the state level as part of the annual conference of the Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD).

During the Nov. 18 panel, Secretary Landgraf said transition work needs to begin as early as possible, and help to meet “the purpose and the promise” of the student and his or her family. The transition to employment or post-secondary education is crucial in breaking the cycle of poverty for so many individuals with disabilities, and she noted that many federal and state policies are coming into alignment on that front.

As for meeting expectations, Secretary Landgraf told the more than 300 people in attendance from across the country that it’s important for state officials to “listen and evolve with the person before you in order to fulfill their dreams.”

Joining on the panel were John Jr. and John III Bogasky. John III just got a job with the Smithsonian. “It’s a 10-year overnight success story,” his dad said. John III detailed the internships and part-time jobs he has had, leading up to this position. John Jr. said early education for parents is especially important in raising expectations and improving understanding about later success.

Ellie Carney just finished a position with an animal welfare group and expects to be hired. Her mom, Maedi Tanham Carney, said post-secondary programs are absolutely critical.

Stephanie Orlando, director of YOUTH POWER! at Families Together in Albany, N.Y., said her organization is seeing success with peers.

Many of the workers at the Tokyo stores are actually students from mainland China who took on a part-time job. But it can be difficult to tell them apart based on appearance as they also speak Japanese.

Both American and Japanese societies seem to put a lot of emphasis on the

university you attend. There are certain stereotypes that exist about most

universities which end up reflecting their students' social status. I'm

using this picture of a Fresno State license plate because as soon as I saw

it, I imagined a community of people trapped in the desert, studying

superfluous things. And then I started thinking about why it is that I

thought that. I guess this is an example of the "destination being more

important than the journey" kind of mindset.

Japanese society especially puts a lot of pressure on students to get

accepted into big name schools. High school students go to cram schools and

have part-time jobs in order to get in to the college of their dreams.

Because once they're accepted at a high level university, it's practically

guaranteed that they'll have job opportunities waiting for them to

graduate. From what I've hear, the real struggle for Japanese students is

to get in to a university. Graduating is easy. I personally don't think it

should matter what university you attended, but rather what you were able

to achieve and learn during your time there.

Hi all... I am still kickin'.

What can I say I never would have thought a year ago that my hobby of taking photos would turn into a part time job. I have been non stop with beautiful babies, lovely ladies, and awesome fams. Of course the occasional weddings!

I TRULY miss my day to day Flickr activity but that doesn't mean I don't stop by from time to time to see what everyone is up to! Unfortunately I just don't always have time to post.

Anyway. Thank you all for doing what you do and continuing to be a great source of inspiration.

During this evening, the Blikopeners of the Stedelijk (young people with part-time jobs in the museum) examine the thin line dividing an original from a reproduction. Young musicians will cover Shocking Blue’s “Venus” (the Stedelijk was the background for the music video); photocopiers make it possible for everyone to determine the circulation of a work by Piet Parra; a continuous experiment examines the survival of long stories that are passed on orally; and there is a masterclass to answer the question whether art can be practiced anywhere and by anyone by following instructions. In addition, artists and employees of the Stedelijk give short talks to describe how reproductions influence their work. A selection of reinterpretations, odes, and appropriations in contemporary and video art will be on display throughout the building.

I had wanted to adopt a greyhound for quite a few years after falling in love with a co-workers dog at a grooming salon I worked for. I visited a meet and greet at a pet store and was encouraged by Carla, a volunteer of Greyhound Friends (and now a good friend of mine) in Hopkinton MA to visit the kennel, which I did, as well as attending the kennel's open house. I brought my son with me on the first visit. We walked many dogs and then at the open house had a list of our top 3. We put our dog Fast on hold and picked him up a few days later. That was the beginning of a whole new life for me. I began doing meet and greets with Greyhound Friends at many Petco stores, as well as community functions, then took a part time job at the kennel. Ive dedicated my life now to getting the education out to the public on what amazing pets retired greyhounds make. Fast is our pride and joy. He is a sweet calm loving dog that is totally dedicated to us. He is the perfect ambassador for greyhound adoption, as he loves children and other dogs, and is the most tolerant dog I have ever had, having up to 3-4 children hanging all over him at one time. I have him out in public frequently, as every trip out with him becomes an opportunity to educate those that come in contact with us about rescuing retired greyhounds. The staff and volunteers at Greyhound Friends work tirelessly to help these sweet animals find forever homes as well as taking amazing care of each of the dogs in the kennel as if they were their own. I as well have 3 cats, which have all been rescues, 2 birds who are also rescues, and my boyfriend has an Australian Shepherd, also a rescue. My previous dog prior to Fast, a Beagle named Betty, was also a rescue from Buddy Dog shelter in Sudbury, MA. Throughout the year, we attend many functions in our area supporting rescues in Massachusetts, such as Pet Rock Festival, Whisker Walk, Pets in the Park, as well as our own Greyhound Friends open houses twice a year. This year was also a first for me to attend a function called the Grapehound Wine Tour held in the Seneca Lake area near Ithaca NY, a fund raiser in conjunction with many winerys in the area supporting local greyhound adoption efforts there as well. There is no question that I support pet rescues 1000% and work to get other people in the world to as well.

365 Day 200. We went to the annual Res Life Car Show tonight, and as usual there were a lot of nice rides there. Now I just need time to go through all the pictures I took. I think going forward I need to limit myself so this hobby doesn't become a part time job.

I finally got to do something fun at the part-time job yesterday. I made an entire display of graffiti books on the art wall of the Barn! I'm a geek, but I loved it. I even created a mock stencil for the display. I hope people tag the wall ; )

It was created as a result of a remarkable relationship between two artists, Albrecht Dürer and his friend Franz Knigstein. As students they both worked as part-time labourers to try to earn enough money to carry on their studies. However in the economic climate of the time there was no way that either could both study and have time to earn enough with casual part-time jobs to survive in this way. They decided to draw lots to decide which of them should find full-time employment, and support them both, while the winner would then devote all his energies to his studies.

Albrecht Dürer won, and agreed that when his studies were complete he would return and finance his friend's studies.

However when Dürer, having become a great success in his field, eventually came back to fulfil his promise, he discovered the sacrifice that Knigstein had made was far greater than either had foreseen.

Through hard labour Franz's finger had become twisted and bent. They could no longer delicately control an artist's brushes and he could never hope to become a great painter. However Knigstein displayed no bitterness. He was glad to have played his part in his friend's success.

One day, Dürer found Franz at prayer and was so struck by his hands that he sketched them and later completed one of the great masterpieces of the early Rennaissance period that we know as "The Praying Hands".
