This message says - I turned around a negative attitude and did a sceond college course. I kept my part time job going all around the same time my long term placement was falling apart.

What a achievement

Russian-speaking cleaners at my part time job. I have been giving them literature in Russia, and have filled out a follow-up form. I hope that one of the friends in a Russian congregation is able to start a bible study with them! They DEVOUR the publications, but can speak so little English, that it's hard for me to make progress preaching to them

They befriended me right away (sadly, almost everyone on the job holds them in VERY little esteem)

Internship and Part-Time Job Fair, sponsored by Internship and Workforce Services, in the Special Events Center on the West campus of Valencia College on October 26, 2017 in Orlando, Fla.

Its been a wonderful past week. I've got two part time jobs. Both of them working towards my goal of working more with food. One of them is making Soups and Salads for one of my house mates. She is a really amazing cook but is super busy with her current job that she doesn't have time to cook. Its been about a week and things seem to be going pretty well. Tonight I cooked up a nice butternut squash soup with a beet, apple, spinach salad with a honey mustard vinaigrette. Yumm!

My college girlfriend cleaning her apartment. Doesn't she look happy? She and I worked part-time jobs, and saved where we could. We did not live an extravagant life in college. She was much smarter than me. She got her degree in education and later became a medical doctor.

Malik was born in southern New Jersey, Cape May. He came to Lancaster as a young kid and is bound and determined to live as an artist, despite the difficulty to make it happen. In other words, part-time jobs in the restaurant business abound. We discussed the pitfalls of the creative process, and how most times his inspiration to create comes from painful experiences- which, as we all know, presents its own sets of challenges.

Malik, 22, is both a visual artist, painter- and a musician. He picked up his grandmother's guitar as a child, took a few music lessons in school, but didn't enjoy the teacher, so most of what he does, he's learned on his own.

To-date the largest crowd he's performed for is 80-100 but he loved it. Last summer Malik was the warm up for his friend's band, The Ogham Stones, at the Chameleon Club here in Lancaster.

For a listen, go to Little Bear Sounds. Malik described the scratchiness of the tune to be like an old record... I agree and like the sound. Malik doesn't like it, as its poor recording equipment, and he knows it, so it drives him a little crazy.

Hi,

Don't let anyone kid you- being a stepmom is hard work. It's the hardest thing I've ever done.

So today I'm faking it til I make it. Tomorrow is the Ice Cream Festival. Hopefully everyone is still up to going. I also need to go fill out my paperwork tomorrow for the part-time job as a UT private box server. Wheeeee!

I have no idea what this weekend holds otherwise. Kids, laundry, sleep (I'm really hoping for some), tears and laughter. All the usual stuff.

Happy Friday guys.

Secretary Landgraf joined individuals with disabilities, their parents and providers for a panel discussion on how to advance employment and post-secondary education for young people with disabilities at the state level as part of the annual conference of the Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD).

During the Nov. 18 panel, Secretary Landgraf said transition work needs to begin as early as possible, and help to meet “the purpose and the promise” of the student and his or her family. The transition to employment or post-secondary education is crucial in breaking the cycle of poverty for so many individuals with disabilities, and she noted that many federal and state policies are coming into alignment on that front.

As for meeting expectations, Secretary Landgraf told the more than 300 people in attendance from across the country that it’s important for state officials to “listen and evolve with the person before you in order to fulfill their dreams.”

Joining on the panel were John Jr. and John III Bogasky. John III just got a job with the Smithsonian. “It’s a 10-year overnight success story,” his dad said. John III detailed the internships and part-time jobs he has had, leading up to this position. John Jr. said early education for parents is especially important in raising expectations and improving understanding about later success.

Josh is going to college with support from his mentor and case manager Andrew. “Andy is more than a mentor,” Josh said. “He is a friend.”

Ellie Carney just finished a position with an animal welfare group and expects to be hired. Her mom, Maedi Tanham Carney, said post-secondary programs are absolutely critical.

Stephanie Orlando, director of YOUTH POWER! at Families Together in Albany, N.Y., said her organization is seeing success with peers.

I understand this is a hard life.

I can go into the details but it's just too hard to word how difficult it is to watch your family struggle to keep their home. Feed their kids. Themselves.

It's hard to see my Mother, who has constantly kept at LEAST two steady part time jobs her entire life to support us.only to hurt her arm and recieve zero benifets for the two years it takes for the system to give her the help she and my family needed ages ago.

It's hard to be a full time college student with her whole future planned out but only enough government aid to attend community college.

I have promise.

I know once I get to a four year college I will excel in my area of study and make a name for myself.

But that's not enough these days.

For anyone really, not just me. I'm not special. There are hundreds of thousands of kids in my situation.

And although I do not fully agree with some of the demands these people are making...I can agree with one thing.

I am part of the 99%.

Mom I'm going to band practice, later!

My daughter plays bass in a punk rock band. They have a show lined up and are thinking about recording so they practice a lot, several times a week. She also goes to college full-time and has a part-time job and designs and sews clothes and bags! My baby girl rocks.

Can you tell how proud of her I am, LOL

Synopsis

When Kasumi Toyama was out camping as a child, she heard the rhythm of the "Star Beat" while admiring the starry night sky. This sparkling, heart-pounding sound left a lasting impression on her, and since then, she has constantly been seeking to rediscover that exciting thrill.

Now, as a newly enrolled student of Hanasakigawa Girls' High School, Kasumi is more determined than ever to find that long-lost sensation again. She attempts a myriad of school club activities, and even considers taking up a part-time job, but none of these feel suitable for her. That is, until she chances upon a star-shaped guitar in the storage room of an old pawn shop. It leads her to a live house, where she is captivated by watching a live performance for the first time. Spurred from the adrenaline, she instantly decides to form a band without even really knowing why. However, such a venture requires her to confront various hurdles with new friends she makes along the way, all in her pursuit to encounter that twinkling, heart-throbbing ardor once more

ever since the first time i was on food stamps (after i graduated with my masters and had 4 part time jobs and still couldn't make ends meet) my mom and i have done these stockings.

the stockings are three feet tall, or bigger. and there are several rules to filling them.

1) we can spend no more than $30.

2) we can't shop for anything until we are both in the same city.

we actually managed to finish our shopping in one day, in 2.5 hours. which left us with a ton of time to stuff our faces and burn things in the kitchen (not in that order).

University of Glamorgan part-time jobs fair.

Kyle’s story is a bit complicated. He’s a senior in college (at Purdue in Hammond) but he started college a couple years after graduating from high school. Because of this unusual transition, it ended up that he had missed the deadline for getting insurance through his mother’s policy. “I was working to put myself through college with a bunch of part-time jobs. None of them, though, provided insurance … then I got sick—very sick.” He was bedridden for several days with fatigue and fever. He finally went to his family doctor who took a blood test. Two days later, his mother received an urgent call from the doctor saying, demanding almost, that Kyle go to the emergency room immediately. Kyle told me, “it was the highest white blood count he had ever seen,” and he was concerned Kyle had leukemia. So, at the behest of the doctor, and actually feeling better by this time, they went the emergency room. It turned out, thankfully, not to be leukemia, but Kyle ended up with a $9,000 emergency room bill (he was never even admitted to the hospital). “My mother and I spent months fighting and negotiating,” he told me. “Luckily the Church organization affiliated with St. Mary’s finally—yes, finally—helped take care of the bill.” Shaking his head in disbelief at the Kafkaesque ordeal, Kyle concluded, “It was something—and I’m not talking about the illness—I never, ever want to go through again.”

This is so hot. One of my many part-time jobs during college was window washing which I never did very well even after nearly 4 years of it. I constantly notice professional window washers way up on high-rise buildings hanging off the side. Sure it's annoying when you're walking down the sidewalk and that gross foam rains down unexpectedly from above, but I fetishize window washers the same way some people fetishize police officers or firemen. I'm sure the reality of the job isn't as exciting, but this is a big fantasy for me.
