More views of Downtown Portland; the blocks near Pioneer Courthouse Square. It was chilly, but the sun was out (a little) - enough to combine with the walking itself for comfortable warmth, but not enough to brighten these photos. Ah well, still memorable, and at least it stopped raining!

This was the 'lunch' I was given on my Bangalore to Chennai Paramount Airways flight on 29th September 2009. They only 'regretted the inconvenience' caused by not providing a full meal. The sandwich and fruit cake(?) were stale and in an unsealed packet. The Bisleri bottle, though sealed, had brown particles floating in it. And they call their service 'Business Elite'!
Back when this theater was in it's prime, this was probably a very impressive sign. I would love to have seen it lit up.
Located in Sandoval, IL, the back says absolutely nothing about the place. It was mailed though, June 15th 1945, and that message reads:
Hi Honey,
Well here I am + only in Illinois not even halfway yet. Am really tired tonight, have been travelling all day. Here are the cabins we are staying in + the arrow in the one we are staying in. Will write again soon.
Love, Rosemary

Looking up other (later) postcards for this, it became the "Paramount Motel", and was located at "Junction- US Hwy. 50-51". Note how each unit had it's own garage, something not unusual for tourist courts/motels of the time. Apparently long gone.
This card kinda touched me, since it's obviously a wife or girlfriend writing, and he's in the Army Air Force. WWII was still going on for another couple months (Sept 2, 1945).
I wonder what ever became of them.
