A spring walk by the brook in this steep sided valley at The Knapp & Papermill nature reserve in Worcestershire.
One more from Papermill Falls before we leave it, the far side of a wide, wide waterfall. Thought the fans of the distant stone bridge might like to see thaat one more time.
NO ICONS OR INVITES PLEASE

Papermill meadow in the heart of Worcestershire, one of my favourite places on 🌎. No roads hear, an old cottage, last lived in back in the sixties and Leigh Brook at the bottom of the garden. The loudest thing here are the Buzzards overhead.
I'll bet this has happened to quite a few of you fellow waterfall nuts -- You give up on having cloudy skies when you see not one cloud and do the best you can dealing with the blazing sun. After taking many, many pictures, clouds appear just about when you were ready to leave.
This was my story today at Papermill Falls. I did re-shoot all my earlier pictures except this one from the "Sunny Period". It came out reasonably well I thought.
My favourite place on 🌎!
This spot looking out over Papermill Meadow towards the old Papermill Cottage by Leigh Brook is somewhere I come back to, time and time again. The Knapp & Papermill nature reserve in rural Worcestershire is one of their flagship reserves and at around 100 acres contains just about every kind of habitat you are likely to encounter in Worcestershire.
At the back of the turbine hall building this area seemed to have been for cutting cardboard tubes to length before the paper was coiled onto them.
Taking the higher track to make a check on the Ramsons/Wild Garlic which are just starting to come into flower at the Knapp & Papermill nature reserve.

Paper Mill Yard formed a small part of the Carrow Works factory development, established by Colmans in the 19th century. The name comes from the paper mill, which was found at this part of the site between 1884 and 1900. The buildings on the site not only produced the mustard for which the Colmans brand is so famous - flour, cereals, starch, sauces, baby food and laundry blue were all manufactured here.

I wanted to see what Papermill Falls looked like with much less water than the last time I was there a little over 2 weeks ago. And it definitely looked better (See high water view below). The sun was somewhat less bright today also.
Located just north of the Bluewater Bridge, at Port Huron Michigan.
Fort Gratiot, named after General Charles Gratiot, the engineer in charge of its construction, was established in 1814 to guard the juncture of Lake Huron and the St. Clair River.
The Fort Gratiot Lighthouse is the oldest lighthouse in Michigan and the second oldest on the Great Lakes. The first lighthouse in this area was built in 1825 and was located approximately where the first Blue Water Bridge stands. Due to poor construction and a storm, it collapsed in 1828. In 1829, a new lighthouse was built north of the military fort by Lucius Lyon, who later became one of Michigan's first U.S. Senators. The new location made it easier for ships to spot as they entered the rapids at the head of the St. Clair River.
The storm which followed this shot was furious, wet, windy, cold. Then, the sun came back out.
LARGE is better.
