I designed the paper shoe ornament many years ago after studying a vintage baby shoe. The paper lantern and tambourine in the picture are made using patterns from a book.
Tree created by Durand Memorial Branch Library. They used pages from books to create ornaments for the tree.
Every year the Durand Union Station displays themed Christmas trees created by local groups. The Station was built in 1903 by the Detroit firm of Spier and Rohns at the junction of two major rail lines. The station was almost destroyed by fire in 1905, but was quickly rebuilt. When it was built, the station is at the junction of the Grand Trunk Western Railroad and the Ann Arbor Railroad. Today, the station is a stop for the Amtrak train that connects Chicago, Illinois and Port Huron, Michigan.

My new cardigan made from Habu paper linen yarn and some thrifted cotton slub yarn. It is crackly but softish. Fun. Shame the light is so poor that the seams and details are not visible.
Walking along the main street in the old part of town, we saw people laying blankets and preparing their wares for the evening night market.
On December 29, we flew to Luang Prabang, Laos - a beautiful, UNESCO World Heritage Site set high in the Laotion mountains along the Mekong river. A truly enchanting and magical place, as you'll see.

I bought doughnut holes and they came in this bag that may by used for "it's many alternate uses in the home." Um, sorry, I'm not sure I'll be reusing the greasy, sugary bag for anything else.

At the observatory near the top of Taipei 101, they were having an exhibit of Chinese Paper Lantern art - some pieces moved and the lights changed, creating different colors and neat effects.
